6 Mission 2

Chapter 6 : Mission 2

"What in the world is going on?" The wolf pup was utterly bewildered.

He couldn't fathom the situation he found himself in. He was fixated on the words displayed on the screen, which only he could see.

"What am I supposed to do with all this data?" he wondered to himself.

Suddenly, a new message appeared before his eyes without making a sound.

***

SELECT A NAME

***

Pondering the statement, he silently repeated to himself, "A name... Hmm, interesting."

"My name is... Shin. Shin Adonis," he said with confidence, and as if responding to his words, the name appeared on the screen he had seen

earlier.

The place that previously had a question mark seemed to have changed as if it was no longer undecided.

Upon observing the changes on the screen, he concluded that the placeholders with question marks would be filled with the appropriate values once they are available.

"It's really shocking… Is it possible that I've truly been reincarnated?" he asked himself, still trying to come to terms with the situation.

"Hmm, since I'm an animal now, it seems my main priority is hunting and eating," he remarked, his stomach growling in agreement as it had been quite some time since his last meal.

"Sigh... this pain is still unbearable... but let me drink some water first."

With great effort, he managed to crawl towards the riverbank and dip his tongue into the cool water, taking small sips despite the pain in his abdomen. Though it was far from satisfying, it was enough to quench his thirst for now.

"I'm literally drinking it like a DOG!", he said.

"Fuck, this pain is unbearable! Can't you just go away?" he grunted, frustration evident in his voice. Just then, a message from the

system popped up, interrupting his thoughts.

After skimming over the information provided by the notifications, he mused out loud, "Healing... Well, that sounds beneficial at least."

"Alright... let's see what this system can do. HEAL!" he said to himself, and to his surprise, a green light enveloped his wounds and they started to mend.

"No way... this actually works?!" He was stunned by the effectiveness.

Gradually, his suffering ebbed away, leaving him with only minor discomfort. As time passed, he started feeling better.

He ceased using the Heal skill once he began to feel increasingly weakened, despite his wounds being fully healed. The cause for this sudden loss of strength eluded him.

To his surprise, upon checking his stats once more, he noticed his MP gauge nearly depleted.

"I should take a closer look and figure out what's going on."

Shin cursed under his breath, realizing that he had not fully examined the details of the system.

His wounds were now fully healed and the pain had subsided, but hunger pangs were starting to set in, reminding Shin that he had not eaten in a while.

The sensation of hunger was overwhelming, making him crave anything edible that he could get his hands on.

"Ugh, I need to find something to eat..."

As he uttered those words and took a few steps further, an eerie sensation crept over him, as if a sinister force was lurking in the shadows ahead.

The forest was densely packed with trees, casting an overwhelming shadow that made it nearly impossible to see with clarity.

Shin's voice trembled as he muttered to himself, "This sensation... it's similar to the one I felt earlier."

*DING DONG*

Shin spent an extended period gazing at the system following his perusal of the messages.

"..."

He was left speechless as he read the words on the screen, his mind struggling to process the implications of what he had just seen.

Shin's voice trembled with anger and disbelief as he glared at the system in front of him. "You!!" he shouted, pointing his paw accusingly at the screen. "You want me to die, don't you!? You want me to kill a ruler? Are you insane?!"

Monsters that rule over a particular region or terrain possess stronger and more advanced skills than other members of their species.

Clearly, completing the task assigned by the System would prove treacherous for Shin. It was as if the System was mocking him.

Already sensing something strange earlier, he finally comprehended its nature."Fuck," he mumbled under his breath, the weight of the situation sinking in.

As the ruler of the swamps emerged from the thick vegetation, he saw the ruler of swamps walking towards him, its towering figure casting a daunting shadow.

This was the source of the ominous feeling that he had been experiencing.

Shin's heart was racing as he took a few steps back, his instincts screaming at him to flee from the approaching swamp ruler. "This is dangerous," he muttered to himself, fear edging into his voice.

*ZZZDDDZZZ*

Emerging from the bushes, a monstrous lizard revealed itself to Shin, dwarfing him in size by at least tenfold.

Its scales gleamed a sickly green-brown in the dim light, and its mouth bristled with razor-sharp fangs.

It somewhat resembled the Grigard which Shin has seen earlier but it appeared more sophisticated.

"I'm done for..." he whispered to himself as he saw the lizard appear before him, bracing for the worst.

Despite the immense fear that consumed him, Shin was surprised to see the giant lizard halt its advance. It stood motionless, as if waiting for something, and Shin couldn't help but wonder what was going on.

For an instant he thought that the lizard died in front of him, so he moved closer cautiously, but before he knew it, the creature's massive tail swung with incredible force towards him.

Shin's mind immediately flashed back to the previous lizard-like beast and he realized the current situation was similar. With his exceptional memory and reflexes, he managed to swiftly dodge the attack by quickly stepping back.

"Phew, my body acted on its own there," Shin muttered to himself, relieved that his instincts had kicked in just in time to save him from the lizard's attack.

As Shin cautiously observed the still lizard, he couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. Despite the creature's inaction, he couldn't bring himself to take a step forward.

He gazed at the motionless lizard with wariness and said, ' I won't be fooled again'

As he pondered over a way to gauge the lizard's abilities, Shin suddenly remembered the system he had at his disposal.

"Why didn't I think of using it sooner?" he berated himself.

"Time to analyze my opponent," he thought to himself before activating the system's analysis function to assess the skills and strengths of the giant lizard looming before him.
