Growing Stronger

It has now been around 2 weeks since I ended up here. Time sure does fly by, huh? Since then, I haven't really made much progress. But, I have discovered how to control my fire breath. I've been hunting more larger creatures instead of only going for bugs. Not only do they taste better, but I'm pretty sure they also make me stronger as if I'm inside of some kind of video game.

Surprisingly, it's actually pretty rare to come across any creatures that are larger than myself. Maybe it's because they all stayed away from the cave due to my mother's presence. Though I don't know if I even have a mother in this world. But it'd make sense.

I've also tried speaking to the other creatures, but everything that comes out of my mouth are just gargles, growls or roars. It isn't really that helpful. If I meet a human at any point, they'll surely try to kill me on the spot.

I want to avoid that. I know humans would do that in my world.

As I wander throughout the caves, in search of an exit. I smell a presence around the corner. It was a whole group of those snake-things. They smell horrible!

But my body was ready. I rounded the corner and immediately the snakes all looked at me with aggression in their eyes. Even more than usual. I've never been bitten by them before, but I should be careful in case they're poisonous or venomous.

But something looks different... did they shrink?

For some reason, they look shorter. Their fangs are less intimidating, and I don't think they can eat me in one bite anymore. Do dragons actually grow that fast?

I charge my fire breath in my mouth, but they don't move at all. Poor things, they don't even know what's coming. But as the fire escapes my mouth, they immediately coil their bodies and throw themselves towards me. I don't believe it, they practically damaged themselves just to make an attempt to bite me!

I quickly dodge the attack, but they still slightly graze me. I guess with size I also grow less nimble. There are four snakes in front of me, all of their fangs are bared. They must be protecting something if they're this aggressive, or they think I'm nothing more than a bug that just wandered out of the cracks in the floor.

But from what I've seen, the fire breath hurts them a lot. So I begin to charge another one. But as the flames slowly build up in my throat, the snakes immediately began to slither towards me!

As they get within touching distance with me, I slap one away with my tail. It actually did quite a lot of damage! But the others are still an issue, and I can't fight them with accuracy as I need to focus on charging this fire blast!

So I swipe my claws at them, but that obviously doesn't do much. I just look stupid. As the snake I whipped recovered, they all begin to rush me down once again. And I don't have an attack fast enough to repel them all at the same time.

All four of the snakes bite into my neck and body. I closed my eyes as a reflex, expecting to die. But I didn't. My scales blocked the attack! I can't believe it, I was still thinking I was a human with skin that could be easily penetrated. But my scales are as tough as steel!

As the snakes let go of me, my fire finishes charging up and I light up the entire area. The snakes all screech in pain to the point where my ears begin to sting. But they soon die and their voices fade away. I close my mouth, which immediately stops the flames from pouring out and I look at my prize. Four cooked snakes ready to eat. I felt like some kind of chef.

I ripped the snakes apart and consumed their flesh and then I slept on top of the cooked skin, it was actually warm and comfy. I felt like a spoiled kid on Christmas after getting everything I wanted. It felt great, but there's also a tinge of guilt. Just what were those snakes protecting that made them that aggressive towards me?

Once waking up, I tried to look around but there was nothing. There's a chance that I might've burnt it when I used my flames though. That sucks. But if it burnt that easily I guess there was nothing much of value anyway. That still sucks though. Now I've got another question to add to the pile.

I plan on getting out of here soon. The exit is close, I can feel it in my bones.
