Chapter 205 - To Be A Parent

[1 Month Later]

Shallot had bags under his eyes while rocking a baby in his hands while Ruby was on the side rubbing her stomach. She could see the pudge sticking out, thinking about what she would say when her parents visited.

"Waaaaah!!!" Everyone in the room heard a loud baby cry while Shallot tried to soothe the small beast in his arms.

"Don't cry, don't cry, Sabi. Papa is here." Shallot said while rocking the tiny baby in his arms.

Shallot hoped he could get used to this, but he knew it would get more complex. Neo is in the hospital currently. The doctors had said that she was close to the time for her to give birth.

The doctors had wanted to keep her there until she went into labor.

Shallot was rocking the baby while smiling. He did enjoy this even if he was losing sleep.

*knock knock*

Shallot turned with tired eyes looking at the door.

"Come in!" Ruby called out while standing up.

"I'm back!" Yang's voice came from the other side.

Yang came through the door while holding some bags.

"It's going to take some time getting used to having a house that we live in instead of the dorms," Yang said while looking around the house that Shallot built this month.

"Where is Blake?" Ruby asked, seeing that she wasn't with Yang considering they left earlier with each other.

"She saw Velvet while she was on the way back from a mission, and they decided to go and get something to eat. Blake wanted to talk about the mission she went on and asked her when she would move in with them." Yang explained.

Shallot had his tail moving in front of Sabi's face while trying to distract her while talking with his girlfriends.

"So I am still going to be on baby duty. Got it." Shallot said while yawning.

*Yawn* The baby also yawned, copying her father.

"I still want to know how you made this place," Yang said, looking at all the technology in the building but no dust crystals.

"It's by using electricity to be used for the entire building. Everything here is made for the use of that." Shallot explained.

"I know that. I wanted to see how you get electricity without using a lighting dust crystal." Yang asked since there isn't a dust generator here.

"I gather electricity from solar panels and the wind turbine outside. There is power storage built under the house that stores the energy that isn't being used so that the panels can run all the time." Shallot explained further as he was surprised that the world of remnant ran on dust as the SDC had a monopoly over it.

Yang was touching everything in the house, walking around wondering how Shallot came up with the idea.

"You must be a genius to come up with this. I thought you were only good at cooking and fighting but also good at building things." Yang said, nodding her head.

'I chose the perfect boyfriend.' Yang thought to herself.

"I'm a bit of a scientist myself." Shallot said, knowing that she wouldn't understand the reference.

"Waaaaahhhhh!!!" Sabi started crying when she saw that her father wasn't paying attention to her.

"Don't cry, little Sabi." Shallot said while trying to get her to stop crying.

Shallot used his tail to move it in front of her face to try to distract her some more. He was messing with her noise.

*Creak*

Everyone turned to see the door opening when Blake walked in with Velvet.

"Woah, this is the house you said that Shallot built." Velvet was surprised at the way it was built inside.

Once she walked in, she expected it to be separated by rooms, but it had a coach and tv that you could see after you walked in.

The room was pretty large that she could see, and there was a wall with an opening that showed the other room. It was a kitchen, and she could see that some food was on the stove being made along with the oven being on.

Velvet smelled what was being made and started drooling.

"Is that carrot cake your baking?" Velvet said.

"Your drooling, Velvet," Ruby told Velvet as she thought she felt the same way when Shallot baked cookies.

She didn't know why Shallot was so good at cooking and only realized how much he ate once they lived here. He would have stacks of plates in the kitchen when he was finished eating.

Ruby turned to look at Sabi and then down at her stomach.

"I don't know if we will be able to get enough food for everyone if they eat as much," Ruby said.

Velvet turned and saw that Ruby was looking at her stomach.

"Are you also pregnant, Ruby?" Velvet said while gasping, not expecting Ruby to have become pregnant.

"The doctors said that I would still have another 2 months before it starts showing," Ruby said while a smile was on her face.

"Your glowing." Velvet said.

"Huh?" Ruby said.

"It was like it glowed around you." Velvet said while she was looking at Ruby.

'Is that what everyone sees when they are happy and pregnant.' Velvet thought to herself.

"Who's my little kitten? You are." Shallot said while playing with Sabi, which made her stop crying.

"Hahahaha!" Sabi started laughing as Shallot started tickling her nose with his tail.

*Knock Knock Knock Knock*

Shallot heard some knocks on the front door, wondering why no one used the doorbell.

"I'll get it!" Ruby cheerfully said as she went to the door.

Ruby opened the door, and surprisingly it was Weiss standing there.

"Weiss?" Ruby said, seeing her.

They were on break right now, and Weiss was supposed to be back at Atlas as her family called her back. Her family was facing some severe backlash as the information about how they were treating Faunus had come out. She wasn't upset about that, but the devices and the tech being sold were pushing into the Schnee area, making people move away from their company.

"Hello, Ice Queen!" Shallot called from the coach.

"Wah Waaah!" Sabi called out, trying to make some sort of greeting.
