Leaving the Dungeon

---The elf's POV---

After waiting for what fell like days (It's hard to tell time inside of a dungeon) of doing nothing but eat the rations that the people who died brought down here, the egg starts to crack, with flames seeping out of the cracks.

I take a few steps back just in case.

After around half a minute, the egg finally hatches, revealing a large bird whose wings look like their tips are on fire with how they are glowing.

It's eyes are a vibrant orange, with its feathers being a scarlet color.

It just stares at nothing before looking at me and raising its wing, moving it around like it was waving a hand, before squawking.

After it squawked it was engulfed by fire, though soon enough the fire dissipated, revealing a little girl with short red hair with a droopy cowlick sticking up.

She has the same orange eyes as the bird along with fair white skin, and with a pair of red wings that have the same orange glowing tips as the bird.

She looks over her body, as if she's inspecting it, before she looks at me with this big happy grin and starts to speak in a language unknown to me.

She is also very naked.

---Genesis' POV---

After hatching from the egg I found myself in when I woke up, I found myself to be much bigger. About the size of a condor actually. I checked my grimoire to see the changes that were made.

The skill I used against that man in the plate armor, [Dive of the Phoenix], was very destructive and suicidal.

I look at the elf (she has black hair and brown eyes along with dark skin), who is alive due to my new skill, [Feather of Resurrection] saving her. I wave my wing at her in a friendly manner.

I then remember something very important.

"[Transmorph]!"

After using the skill, I am surrounded by fire, and I begin to change shape.

After a moment the fire dissipates, and I am in a humanoid body.

I look at my hands, then my feet, and finally my back, which has a pair of wings on them.

I then touch the top of my head and find a cowlick there. Not that I care.

I look at the elf lady and say, "I'm glad you're alright" she looks at me in confusion.

"Oh, you probably can't understand me." I say before thinking.

I have an idea (did my cowlick just straighten by itself?). I point at my throat, then I point at hers.

She seems to get the idea, "You want me to speak?" I nod before saying, "Yes I do."

The elf seems startled by me suddenly talking in her language fluently.

"The only reason I'm able to talk to you in your language is because I have a skill that allows me to learn other languages just by listening or reading them." I explain.

"So, in other words, just by hearing you talk, I now know your whole language."

After a moment of thought she says, "So you learned an entire language just from hearing a few words from it?"

"Yep." I confirm, "Also we haven't had introductions yet."

I spin around and strike a dramatic pose before saying, "My name's Genesis! Nice to meet you!"

The elf seems confused at my pose but introduces herself despite that, "My name is Elaina, and it is a pleasure to meet you." she says while bowing her head slightly.

"Good! Now to what I said before. I'm glad you're alright, I wasn't sure if the whole feather thing would have worked."

Elaina looks at me with indignation, "So you were basically gambling with my life."

I realize this fact, and reply, "Well you were gonna die either way if it didn't work."

"Fair point."

We look at each other for a few seconds, before I break the silence, "So after I do a few things here, I was going to leave the dungeon. You can come with me if you want."

The elf thinks about it for a moment.

While she was doing that, I decided to look at what I was working with in the dungeon.

I guess killing those raiders earlier gave me more DP.

Looking at the controls page, I decide to renovate and add a new floor.

First, I change the second floor from a marshland to a large glacier floating in the ocean.

I then change the monsters that spawn on the second floor to match the theme.

I then created the room where I will be fighting in if I decide to.

I made it look like a burning forest surrounding the area where the fight occurs. The trees don't actually burn they just have the appearance of burning trees.

In the distance facing towards where the fight is supposed to happen is where I'll be resting when I am being the final boss, and no one is in the room. A giant tree that is on fire will be my resting place.

I use the last of my DP to make a one-way teleportation circle that appears after the light and dark guy is defeated and I'm on my floor. If I am defeated a new circle will appear, leading to the dungeon entrance.

I don't have the DP to do anything else to the dungeon, so I decide that now is the time to go on an adventure!

I turn towards Elaina, who is drawing something into the sand of the arena.

"Ok I'm done, have you made your decision yet?" I ask Elaina.

She continues to draw into the sand, before stopping and looking at me with a warm smile, "Sure, why not?" she starts, "Why not travel with the person who saved me from those greedy men?"

"Yay! Come on let's go!" I grab the elf by her arm and run towards the staircase leading towards the fourth floor.

"W-Wait!" the elf protests.

I run up the stairs to the fiery wasteland that is the fourth floor.

"I see all the monsters have respawned." I stop at the top of the stairs.

I look towards Elaina, who seems concerned, "The monsters have respawned... You can get through but I'm not sure I can."

I think for a second, before remembering, 'I control this dungeon, therefore I control who can come and go as they please.'

I turn towards the elf and try whitelisting her.

A red and orange magic circle appears on her forehead. After a few seconds the circle turns white then disappears.

'Let's hope this worked.' I grab Elaina's arm and run towards the nearest fire orc.

"Genesis! What are you doing?!" I present the elf to the fire orc, and the monster shows no interest in her.

"It worked!" I exclaim.

"What worked?" Elaina asks nervously.

"I whitelisted you in the dungeon! No monsters here will attack you unless attacked first. Then they just follow their normal behavior." I say.

She questions me, "So I can just walk up to a monster in here can stab it in the face to get strong with no effort?"

"Well, the gains in here for you will be less than other dungeons." I reply.

"Makes sense I guess."

After that little talk, we make our way to the dungeon entrance.

When we get to the exit, I ask the elf something, "Are you sure you want to come with me?"

Elaina, with no hesitation, replies, "Yes, I'm sure."

"Alright, then let's get out of here."

We walk out of the dungeon and see...

Nothing spectacular, just a natural cave in the side of a hill.

As I step out of the dungeon entrance, I realize something.

I don't have clothes.

"Ah, forgot about that." I quickly turn back into my phoenix form to avoid looking like an exhibitionist.

I test if I can still talk in this form, "Hey Elaina, can you hear me?"

Elaina looks at me in confusion.

I guess I can't talk in this form.

I turn back into my humanoid form so that I can talk to Elaina, "So, I think first things first is to get ourselves some clothes."

"Agreed."

I get another idea, "Wait, we can just use the clothes of the guys I killed."

Elaina looks at me distastefully, "Really?"

I nod, "Unless you want to wear that for however long you have to."

She looks down at her clothes, before saying, "Fine you have a point. Still though, it just feels wrong to steal clothes from the dead."

Now that she mentioned the dead, I didn't I felt anything when killing those raiders. Must be a monster thing.

"Well, what are we waiting for? let's go loot some corpses!" I say with a little too much enthusiasm.

We reenter the dungeon, and go back to the fifth floor, before encountering a problem.

The bodies are gone, and by extension the clothes.

"Sh#t."

As I am thinking of what to do now that the bodies are gone, the grimoire opens up, showing a new page labeled 'Dungeon Loot'.

On the page, are multiple categories of loot.

Looking at the loot I got from killing those guys, I feel regretful in the way I killed the leader.

'I could have gotten a full set of plate armor had I not obliterated him with [Dive of the Phoenix]!'

Putting that aside, I try and pull out a shirt from the 'Inventory'.

I succeed, but the shirt is a little big. Regardless I try putting it on, and miraculously the shirt shrinks to fit me.

"Neat." I pull out another shirt and toss it to Elaina, who has been watching me with interest this whole time.

She takes off her current clothes (If you can even call them that.) and puts the shirt on.

The shirt shrinks to fit the elf.

"Very neat."

I pull out two pair of pants for both of us.

Those shrank as well.

I ask Elaina if she wants shoes, to which she says yes.

I also grab a pair of boots.

Both the boots and shoes shrank to fit us.

'Does armor and clothes adjust to the person who loots them?'

I decide not to think about it.

Before closing the grimoire, I decide to get us some weapons.

I pull out a dagger for myself before ask Elaina something, "Hey Elaina, are you good with a bow?"

She looks at me weirdly, "I... can't use a bow to save my life."

Before I could say anything, she continues, "But I'm really good with magic, specifically wind and nature magic."

I sigh in disbelief, an elf, which are portrayed in fiction to be the best archers there are, can't use a bow to save their own life.

At least she's good at magic.

I ask another question, "I happen to have a cleric staff and a mage staff, which one do you want?"

She thinks for a moment, before responding, "Neither really, I am what is called a battle mage, meaning I have been trained to use both the blade and magic in tandem."

I ask a question to confirm something, "So have you been trained in using daggers?"

"Yes actually. It's what I specialize in, why are you asking?" the elf answers.

"Oh, ok you can take this extra dagger then, and I'll take the bow." I hand the extra dagger over to the elf and grab the bow, arrows, and quiver.

After all that, I grab all my money out of the dungeon inventory (which appears inside a little pouch) and head back outside of the dungeon with Elaina.

When we leave the dungeon I ask, "So what should we do now?"

Elaina looks at me, "I think we should go to the nearest town."

She looks away towards a nearby hill, "From there, I don't know."

I nod my head in agreement, before letting Elaina lead the way.

---Sometime in the middle of their journey---

"So, Elaina what's this town's name?" I ask curiously.

"The town is named after a famous merchant named Rin. Rin was a girl who loved making money, and she did so in a legitimate way. She was an honest person, and an example to what all merchants should be." Elaina explains in detail.

'Sounds like a good person.' "Judging from how you kept saying 'was' I'm going to assume she is no longer alive?"

The elf nods, "One day she was going with one of her caravans, they say that she claimed it was to 'Relive the old days'."

Her expression darkens, "But the caravan was attacked, and Rin was killed."

"Some say it was a rival company who paid bandits to kill her, others say it was just bad luck."

The elf looks at me, "Soon, the company crumbled, as she had no one to take over, and was shut down."

Elaina continues, "The mayor of the town, which just so happened to be the town Rin's first store was located in, decided to honor the best merchant to have ever lived, by renaming the town after her."

"The town soon became a hub of commerce."

Elaina finishes the story, "But enough about that, we should continue onward."

---Outside the town gates---

"This is it, the Town of Rin." Elaina points towards the towns palisade walls.

"What are we waiting for? let's go in!" I say excitedly, while running towards the gate.

I am soon stopped at the gate by one of the guards, "Halt! Name and identification."

I look at Elaina before turning towards the guard, "My name's Genesis and this is Elaina. Sorry to say, but we don't have IDs."

The guard sighs, "Follow me."

The guard goes inside the gatehouse with us following behind.

We enter a room within the gatehouse. This room has a desk and crystal that is sitting on a pedestal, "Put your hands on the crystal."

I do as told and place my hands on the crystal. After putting my hands on the crystal, a screen shows up.

{

Name: Genesis

Race: Harpy

Titles: Blessed by Fire

LVL: 10

}

The guard looks at my 'Stats' and nods, "Your level is pretty high for a kid. And your title explains how you look."

I feel myself release a breath I didn't know I was holding.

"Your next." the guard says to Elaina who walks up to the crystal.

Elaina puts her hands on the crystal, and her stats appear.

{

Name: Elaina

Race: Dark Elf

Titles: N/A

LVL: 18

}

She's level 18, and she was being used as a slave for those guys I killed. Just what level were they at? Not strong enough to kill me at level 9, that's for sure.

Elaina takes her hands off the crystal, before the guard grabs something from the desk sitting next to the crystal.

"The ID's are gonna cost about one silver each." The guard says.

I pull two silver out of my pouch and give it to the guard and the guard gives us our ID's, "If you ever lose your ID just go to the administrative building, they'll get you sorted out."

"Ok." I say before heading outside of the building, "Thank you for your help."

We head inside the town, and see a myriad of buildings, from blacksmiths to clothes shops to even shops that sell supplies.

"Where should we go now...?" 'Why am I even asking myself that question, it's obvious where I should go!'

"Hey Elaina?" I look up at the elf, who in turn looks down at me, "Yes?"

"Do you know where the adventurer's guild is? If there is one."

"I do actually, I used to be an adventurer before I was captured by slavers and sold to those men who you killed." Elaina says with a hint of venom at the end.

I ignore that last part, "So could you guide me to the guild?"

"Yes of course. I needed to get a new guild card anyways."

I gesture for her to lead the way, which she does as I follow her. I look around the town and overhear some people yelling out prices from their stalls.

I keep following Elaina, and after a few minutes of walking we reach a large building that has 2 sets of double doors and a beautiful exterior.

After admiring the outside for a bit, we head inside.

The inside is a large room with a few counters in the center back of the area that have a few people at them, who I'm going to assume are the receptionists. There is a set of double doors leading out towards the back of the guild, to a training area probably. There are also tables with chairs scattered around the hall.

Elaina walks towards one of the counters in the back with me following. When we get to the counter, the receptionist greets us, "Hello! What are you here for today?"

Elaina requests a new guild ID, "Of course, that will be just a moment, and what about you?" The receptionist asks.

"I want to register as an adventurer please." I ask politely, "Ok then, there is no age requirement, so I guess you can join-"

"Wait just a minute!" I hear someone in the background say, "This little twerp can't be an adventurer, she's too weak!"

The culprit reveals himself as a large and muscular man with brown hair and fierce black eyes. His skin is a tan color, and he has a necklace that looks like a dog tag. He is wearing a pair of animal fur pants, with no shirt but instead a cloak showing off his chest. He also has a pair of bear ears which are the same color as his hair. He has a large two-handed bearded axe strapped to his back along with several hatchets attached to his waist.

I hear people in the background whispering about the bear guy, "He said the same thing about me when I joined." "Can't this guy just leave the newbies alone?"

The bear man looks down at me, "What is your name puny one?"

I glare at the man, "Genesis, now what's the name of the punk I'm gonna pummel in a few seconds?"

The bear man looks at me with surprise, before laughing loudly, "Hahaha! I like your spirit little one, maybe you are strong enough to be an adventurer, in spirit that is."

'I'm so confused' I look at the bear man, "My name is Ingvar, and I would like for you to show me your strength in a duel!"

The receptionist sighs behind me, "Ingvar, you can't keep going around challenging every potential adventurer to a duel. It's against the rules of the guild to challenge someone who isn't an adventurer anyways so you should stop before I report this to the guild master."

Ingvar glares at the receptionist before looking back at me, "Fine, little one, go get registered and THEN duel me."

Ingvar leaves through the back door, probably to prepare.

"That was weird." Elaina says. I then say, "Well that happening wasn't out of the realm of possibility."

I turn back towards the receptionist, "Can we get me registered now?"

"R-right of course, just give me a minute."

After the receptionist writes a few things down on a clipboard, she goes out a door behind the counter.

After a while she comes back with two necklaces similar to the one Ingvar was wearing, except his had a gold D on it, while mine has a copper F on it. I'm going to assume the other one is Elaina's, which has a silver E on it.

"Here are your adventurer ID's. Don't lose them or you'll have to pay a fine that is equivalent to your rank." The receptionist looks at Elaina, "Which reminds me, the cost of a silver E rank ID is one silver and fifty copper."

Damn that's expensive, and that's for a silver E rank ID.

I give the required amount to Elaina, and she gives it to the receptionist.

"Great, is there anything else I can do for you?" The receptionist asks, "What are the ranks here?" I ask.

The receptionist smiles warmly, "Ranks go from F to S, F being the lowest and S being the highest."

"Additionally with letter ranks we have metal sub ranks, such as copper."

"The specific sub ranks are as follows: copper, iron, silver, gold, and finally platinum."

"Any more questions?" The receptionist asks, "No, I'm good thank you."

"Then I wish you good luck in your endeavors." The receptionist says with a wide smile.

Me and Elaina head towards the back door Ingvar left through.

After exiting the main building, we are in what looks like a training ground.

Not too far away I see Ingvar swinging his two-handed axe against a practice dummy, with the occasional throw of a hatchet.

He eventually sees me and Elaina, and promptly retrieves his hatchets, "There you are little one, are you ready to duel against me in a battle of strength?"

'Do I have a choice?' "Sure, you can say that."

Ingvar laughs, sensing my reluctance "Hahaha! how about this; you don't use those fancy wings of yours and I won't use my hatchets, hm? Deal?" he sticks out his massive hand (When compared to mine.) for me to shake, which after a moment of consideration I do.

"Meet me at the sparing grounds." Ingvar turns to walk away, but suddenly stops, "Actually just follow me."

Me and Elaina look at each other for a moment, before following the bear man.

After reaching the sparing grounds, which were right next to the training grounds, I notice that no one was at the sparring grounds, "I reserved the sparring grounds for this battle, in case you were wondering." Ingvar says.

Ingvar goes to one end of the grounds, and I do the same with the other side.

"Are you ready little one?" Ingvar shouts from across the grounds.

"Ready!" I shout back.

"Then let's begin!" Ingvar gains a crazed grin as he pulls his axe off of his back and charges me.

I summon a fire ball in my hand and throw it at Ingvar before changing its shape mid-flight into a fire spear.

This doesn't seem to surprise Ingvar as he simply moves to the side at the last second causing my attack to miss.

"Is that all? Pathe-" Ingvar starts before getting hit in the back with a fire spear, starting a small fire, "GAH!"

Ingvar reaches for his back, patting out the flame.

He looks back at me, "Hm, good. It would have been a shame for that first attack to be the extent of your abilities."

He picks up his axe which he had dropped when he was hit by the fire spear and resumes his charge.

I form another fireball and throw it at Ingvar, who instead of dodging it smacks it away with his axe.

As he gets close enough, he swings his axe towards my arm, which I move out of the way.

I retaliate by swinging my dagger at his hand.

I land my attack, but instead of cutting his hand like I thought would happen, the dagger broke in half, 'This thing really is flimsy, what the hell!'

"It appears your equipment is not up to snuff, little one." Ingvar says while looking at his hand, which has not even a scratch from my dagger.

He quickly throws a punch at my face, which I am unable to avoid in time.

*THUD*

I fly across the sparring area with my nose bleeding.

After I stop, I get up off the floor and summon a fireball, before concentrating on reforming the fireball into a weapon.

I succeed in forming a dagger from solid fire. I grab the dagger and look towards Ingvar, "Ah, it seems you have properly equipped yourself." He says, "Let's do this again shall we?"

Ingvar charges me again, to which I throw a newly formed fireball at him to which he smacks away.

While he has his axe in a position in which he can't block quickly, I run up to him using my superior speed, and by the time he can swing his axe at me I have my fire dagger aimed at his throat.

"Yield." I demand, before Ingvar starts laughing, "Hahahaha... it appears I need to train more, if a child can beat me without her race's one advantage, even if I wasn't using my full strength." He looks at me, "I yield, little one."

I retract my dagger before dismissing it completely, causing the flames that made up the dagger to dissipate.

Ingvar hands me a bottle filled with a blood red liquid, "Drink it, it will help heal your wounds."

I pop the cork off of the bottle and give the liquid a sniff, and it smells awful.

I chug the red liquid as fast as I can. After finishing the bottle, I finally taste how bad it is, "Contrary to popular belief, health potions do not taste good." Ingvar says before he chugs a potion as well.

"Yeah, I noticed." I touch my face and notice that while there is still some blood, there is no pain.

"Huh, this potion really did wonders." I say, "Yes they do their job well, but they are also not cheap to make, which is why only military, and adventurers buy them in bulk." Ingvar adds.

"Good to know, thanks for giving me one." Ingvar smiles at that, "Your welcome."

After cleaning up best we could, Ingvar goes back to the training area while me and Elaina go back to the main hall.

When we got there, we went straight to the quest board. We look on the board for any good quests, when I see a notice saying, 'NEW DUNGEON EXPLORERS NEEDED'.

"Hm, I wonder where..." I joke to myself before seeing a group of adventurers walk over to one of the receptionists and ask about the dungeon notice.

The receptionist tells them that the dungeon is newly discovered, and has five floors, each with a theme based on the elements.

'Hehe... I guess I'm getting some more DP soon.'

The adventurers leave the building after getting information on the dungeon, likely heading to get transportation to the dungeon.

Elaina then tells me that we should go to an inn to store our stuff. I agree with her and we head out of the building.

After leaving the building we go to the right of the guild building and find an inn to stay at.

'I guess it's time to do my job.' I tell Elaina I'm going out for a while, "Okay, stay safe!"

I leave the inn and go into a nearby alleyway. I then teleport back to the dungeon, causing a magic circle to appear below me.

I soon disappear along with the circle. I reappear on the sixth floor of the dungeon, in my flaming tree.

"Now to sit and wait for my free dungeon points..."
