11 Maximizing the Profits

After his momentary outburst, Abel calmed himself down and sit down again. He wanted to take a sip from his cup but after realizing he spurted it all to the table he helplessy put the cup down.

' Fine, since I decided to waste the pill, I should farm as much relationship as possible. Just giving the pill and leaving won't cut it. They won't feel as grateful... I need them to understand I am sacrificing a huge deal for their sake! They need to feel my pain.' As Abel was formulating a plan that would maximize his profits, Nami and Usopp was still in shock from Abel's recent outburst.

Nami was especially confused, the teacher she knew was always calm and elegant. İt was the first time she saw him angry. She looked at Abel hesistantly asked him.

'' Teacher, are you oka-'' She couldn't finish as she was frozen by a cold glare from Abel. Abel looked at Nami coldly for a second. 'I really need to discipline this brat.' Afterwards he flashed a warm smile towards Nami.

'' Of course, I am okay. What could be wrong? Dear disciple, you must be mistaken. Now, let's go! We need to treat Usopp's mother right now.'' Since Abel decided to waste his pill he no longer hesitated and was decisive. Nami felt a shiver as she looked at Abel's usual kind and warm smile. She didn't miss the cold glare from before. ' Ah... Did I do something wrong?' Nami was confused as she followed Abel with Usopp. Both Usopp and Nami were surprised when they realised Abel stopped in front of Kaya's mansion. Before they could ask, Merry came out of the mansion and immediately came before Abel. Merry looked at the kids for a while before whispering Abel's ear with a soft voice.

'' I sent Kaya away with the excuse of her sickness. I will use the same excuse to sent Kuro to buy medicines tonight. What's wrong? Why are the children with you?''

'' Long story. I need posion. Can you find me something like that?''

'' What POİSO-'' Abel immediately closed Merry's mouth who was about to scream.

'' İdiot! İt is for an undercover mission of mine! Be quick. The poison should be very mild, only causing minor illnesses, best would be immediate fever. Do you understand?'' Abel asked with a hushsed tone.

Merry looked at Abel complicatedly but was relaxed when he heard Abel only needed a mild poison. He didn't question him any further.

''... Wait here, I will find something.'' After Abel and the two kids waited patiently for 15 minutes, Merry came back with a bottle full of red coloured fluid.

'' This thing comes from west blue, it causes fever 30 minutes after drinking it. İt takes 3-4 hours for fever to go down. There are no other after effects.''

Abel was very satisfied as he took the bottle from Merry's hands. Usopp was confused.

'' Will that thing, help in treating mother?'' He asked curiously.

'' No.'' Abel answered shortly, then opened the bottle and drank it's contents in one go.

'' I was just a bit thirsty. Good alchol. Thank young mistress for her hospitaly, next time I come I will bring some gifts as well. Let's go. '' Abel took the unsuspecting kids and left casually. Meanwhile Merry was looking at Abel's back blankly and his mouth was fully open. Even after Abel spoke to him, his mind couldn't register what just happened and he hasn't answered. He was frozen like a statue at the entrance of the mansion. He couldn't understand anything. An undercover marine asked him for poison, drank it and left happily. ' What is going on...?'

Ten minutes later they reached Usopp's house. After a few minutes of introductions and exchange Usopp's mother understood that Abel was a doctor sent by her husband. She was very moved. ' Ah... My husband didn't forget me after all. My dear husband is always watching over me, even though he is adventuring far away.' Her eyes were full of tears filled with emotion. Usopp also got emotional seeing his mother like this.

'' Cough. Well, we can talk about Yasopp after I am done treating you. Now let me diagnose you.'' Abel didn't care about their emotions and started diagnosing them. Usopp and his mother calmed down as they watched Abel. After the diagnosis was done, Abel started to frown making them nerveous.

'' B-Brother, can my mother be cured?'' Usopp asked in panic. Abel sighed as he looked at them dramaticly, making the atmosphere more tense.

'' Your mother can't be treated by any doctor.'' Abel gravely said. Usopp's heart shook as desperation became apparent on his eyes again. Tears threatened to flow out as he looked towards the floor. His mother couldn't handle seeing her son like this and immediately hugged him.

''U-Usopp, it is okay. I-I just hope...'' Before they could go on with their farewell speeches Abel interjected again.

'' Your mother can't be treated because she is not ill at all.''

'' Wh-What...'' Usopp and his mother looked at Abel confusedly. Abel sighed dramaticly and gestured them to sit around him. After he felt the athmosphere was right and started his explanation.

'' İn the distant past... long before humans reigned supreme, this world was ruled by 2 supreme races. They were known as the demon race and lunarian race. Lunarians were a peaceful and noble race, they didn't interfere with other race's affairs and lived on top of the red line peacefully. However, the devil race was not like them. They felt gratified to conquer other races and make them their slaves using their superior bloodline. As years passes the demon race grew more and more ambitious as they even threatened the Lunarians and their ally races. Lunarians of course wouldn't tolarate such a thing and a war broke out. Demon race against lunarians and their allies. The fight were very even and there were many people dead in both sides. As the fighting went on Demon race realized they might not conquer the world with their strength alone and tried to use ancient weapons.'' After spouting nonsense for a while Abel felt thirsty and drank some water. ' I need to waste 10 more minutes until the poison kicks in.'

''What happened after that? What does it have to do with my mother's illness?'' Usopp asked immediately.

'' I am getting there, be patient. Anyways, after devil race used ancient weapons lunarians and their allies were helpless. They were getting defeated rapidly. They retreated to red line and used their last card against the devil race. They asked help from the sunlight tree eve.''

'' Teacher... What is that tree? ''

'' Don't cut me off! I am getting there. That is an ancient tree that starts from the bottom of fishman island and reaches until on top of red line. İt is the ancestral tree that all lunarians worship. Anyways the tree responded the prayers of lunarians, humans and other races allied with lunarians. The tree produced fruits capable of sealing these demons. With the help of these fruits lunarians regained the advantage in the war and sealed the demon race. However after fighting with demon race for such a long time, lunarians were very weakened. They were not as strong as they once were. Humans realised that eating demon fruits gave them incredible powers and demanded these fruits from lunarians. Lunarians of course refused to hand over the sealed demons to humans. İn the end Lunarians couldn't protect these fruits from human's greed as humans stole and rallied the other races against Lunarians wiping them out.''

'' Wow, I never knew such things exist. The ocean is an awesome place.'' Usopp was amazed.

''Teacher... Can you get to the point?''

'' Ah... yes.'' Abel checked the time and realised 20 minutes were nearly done. He caught up on his nonsense so much he forgot the time. '' Anyways, when humans stole the fruits they accidently freed some of these demons, thus there are still some demons roaming around the world right now. Your mother is being attacked by one of these demons!''

Everyone in the room gasped. They didn't think the situation was so serious. Usopp's eyes teared immediately.

'' T-Then my mother...''

''Don't worry. Others may be helpless but I am an expert in dealing with demons. I will seal the demon inside me and free your mother.''

Nami's face immediately turned pale '' T-Teacher, then what will happen to you...?''

Usopp also looked at Abel conflicted. Abel flashed them a warm smile. '' Don't worry... I will be fine. Let's start.'' Abel sat in front of Usopp's mother took her hands in his and closed his eyes seemingly focused. Nami and Usopp watched the 2 focused. After few minutes the poison kicked in and Abel started shivering and flushing red.

'' Teacher! What is going on!?'' Nami and Usopp were panicked.

'' Calm down! I will beat this demon no matter what! He is a little stronger than I expected...'' Abel answered with a rightous and heroic voice.

Nami and Usopp watched him with teary eyes. They were moved by his heroism. Abel kept pretending for another 20 minutes and even sneakily hit himself in the chest coughing blood. After that he stood up with a strained smile.

'' The demon should be defeated now...'' Others relaxed after that looking at Abel with teary and moved eyes. Abel turned around, took a bottle of water, crushed the pill into dust and mixed with the water. The others didn't see what he was doing, they were still thinking about the last 20 minutes of heroic struggle they saw from Abel. Abel turned back to Usopp's mother and gave him the water with a charming and heroic smile. '' Here, drink a bit of water, you must be exhausted.''

Usopp's mother blushed as she gave Abel a kind smile ''... Thank you.'' After abel saw her drinking the water, he was relaxed. 'Okay, I am done here. Let's see the rewards.' Abel checked the notifications quickly.

'Ding! Relationship updated with Usopp(Major character) +70(Grateful)'

'Ding! Relationship formed with Banchina(Minor character) +70(Grateful)'

'Ding! Relationship updated with Nami(Major character) +50( Admiration)'

Abel checked the rewards with bright eyes. 'Hehe, this was worth poisoning myself!'

Note: I know Abel's explanation this chapter was very long, but that is because he will use this as an excuse to do something big in the future. I just wanted to include it earlier.
