1 Chapter 1

Dominic strolled out of the cinema with a smile.

'Oh my word, that movie was amazing!'

He looked around.

At week's end, many people came for different reasons. Perhaps it was a break to unwind from the long work day? Maybe they were out with family and friends to have a good time? Or they were just fans of a character within that movie, and showed their passion by viewing it here.

Of the posters on the wall, one stood out.

'Gojira did his thing, and I'm satisfied,'

Dominic dropped an empty bag of popcorn into the trash bin.

'If I have to be honest, Minus One is at that level with 1954,' He thought, fishing out his phone, 'Literally everything is brilliant,'

The time revealed itself.

'However, it could've been an eleven out of ten if they used his strongest move; The Dropkick,'

When he thought about it, Dominic held his breath. He shook his head and walked to the entrance.

The sun hit so hard that he had to blink a few times.

When his gaze met the street, his shoulders lowered.

'That movie made me proud,'

He reached the zebra crossing and looked both ways.

'so why can I not do the same for my parents?'

That tensed him up.

Soon, his imagination took hold.

There he was, his head high in the sky. The buildings are only small twigs compared to his size. People like ants. Fear. His roar echoed all around, terrifying those who were not already running for their lives.

Dominic blinked.

'Sometimes, I wish I could turn into a Godzilla,'

Everyone's comfort zone is different.

This was his.

Although, it was only for a moment.

'Then everything else hits,' He sighed, 'It is only a dream of mine. A dream that cannot be accomplished,'

As he reached the other side of the road, Dominic smiled.

'Does not change that I went to see that great movie,'

If there was one thing Dominic hoped for, it was for more Godzilla movies in the future.

Perhaps they could add kaiju that has not seen the big screen in a while. Maybe even have a fight between Gamera and Godzilla? That would be epic.

'A sequel to Shin Godzilla would be cool, even if it meant more suffering for the poor guy,'

As his footsteps carried him forward, Dominic's mind grew dark.

Such high expectations from him.

Such a high bar to fill.

That bar would be beat, though. He was sure of it.

He looked at his phone again.

'Damn,' Dominic frowned, 'Work, tomorrow,'

As he straightened his back, he wondered.

'Gosh, I really wish I could...'

HONK! HONK!

'...make them proud,'

It was weird.

The only thing he remembered was walking down a street, past buildings.

Now, why did it all vanish?

Why did he only see darkness?

Dominic moved his arms and legs.

For some reason, his back and legs ached as if he had done a long run of exercises.

Yet, he didn't work out the previous day.

'Uh,'

Dominic felt light as if he was in space. There was no force pulling him to the ground. Not even a gust of wind nor sound. Just silence.

"It's not over yet..."

This soft, calming voice intruded the silence and Dominic's confusion.

"Who...Who's there?" His head spun around.

Nothing.

Was he dreaming again like when he did as Godzilla?

"You're not useless..."

He felt a spike within his heart.

Of all things, why did this strike a cord within himself? Why did he have to keep his face normal, and not break down? And lastly:

Why did that voice sound so familiar?

The thoughts swelled within his skull. He held his head, trying to make sense of it all.

His eyes felt heavy. Extremely heavy.

Right now, Dominic focused on prying them open. When his fingers didn't work, he just hoped on his eyelids.

The reward was pretty uplifting.

Too uplifting.

Green grass. A good view overlooking the forest around him. Dominic wondered if he was dreaming.

He felt a shiver.

'Where am I? This isn't home,' Dominic looked around, his heart rate skyrocketing, 'did I get kidnapped?'

It was strange. The aches he once felt were gone. A breeze blew against him. Dominic turned.

Nothing felt wrong. Only the surroundings did.

'How in the world did I end up here?' he thought, 'I was walking, the road on my right, buildings on the left...'

'How? How? HOW!?'

Dominic took a sharp breath.

'Must not panic... Must not panic...' He began to take slow and steady breaths, 'Worse thing to do is panic, right? Let's try and walk to one of the trees,'

So he did, moving down the apparent hill.

However, Dominic noticed his face was close to the ground. Was the grass smaller than usual?

The next thing froze him in his tracks.

'Th-those trees. No. No,' He glared at them, 'Why are they small? Did I walk into a miniature set?'

'...'

He held his breath.

Out of the corner of his eye. He saw it. To not notice it sooner, Dominic convinced himself that he was quite a dunce.

A wing.

A hairy, colourful wing.

A moth wing.

'Wha-What...' He watched it move, going up, then down.

'Am I controlling these wings!?'

It was like any other appendage. Of course, Dominic did not notice it.

'Why is it not weird that I have WINGS?' He thought, trying not to scream, 'Do I...Am I still a human?'

Dominic froze again.

In front of the trees, snaked a glistening river.

Something clicked.

He marched on, panic settling in even more. Dominic shook, and his breathing turned into an unpredictable mess.

There was nothing else he wanted to see but his old face.

The small trees, the wings, and even his feet, which he began to fear were more than one pair, were the lock on the door he needed to open. There was no key.

With a huff, Dominic peered over and stared down at the calm waters. An interesting comparison.

'No...'

On the other side, he met a face.

Two big blue eyes.

Antenna.

Mandibles.

No human completion.

Dominic could only think of one thing.

'A moth?'
