1 Chapter 1 Meeting Death

They say, you always see all your life in a short film before your eyes, when you are dying. In a way, it's like that. I always imagined to feel a lot of pain, but all I feel is me freezing. A cold feeling, that makes me feel uncomfortable, but I can't escape it.

Oh, an sure, I saw my life before me. Some good memories, some very bad memories of mine. The last thing I remember and see, was me standing in front of this huge skeleton.

It was back, when I was a child.

As a child I always loved dinosaurs and I still do. They are such incredible animals and I always feel sad, when I think about them dying out. Wiped out of existence. Sure, they are still around us in a way. Birds are descendandents of them, but still. It's not the same, right? I mean, humans are ruling earth, not them. Man! I always wished I was born a dinosaur and lived during their time.

My favorite one, was the Giganotosaurus carolinii. Discovered in Argentina in 1993.

It was the memory of me, standing in front of this very huge skeleton, I saw. My last memorie, before all went black around me.

The freezing cold was all gone. To be honest, everything was gone. No pain, no feelings. Just my thoughts hanging around in this darkness. But still, I was feeling like I was not alone. Someone was being with me in this darkness.

I couldn't see anybody, because I had no eyes. I could hear nobody, because I had no ears. I was just thoughts. Just some untouchable energy. My soul? Was that it? Was I somekind of ghost? I couldn't understand it, tried to make sense out of it, when I heard a voice.

„You want to be reborn as an animal?"

How was it possible to hear that strange voice? It sounded like an old mans voice, but I wasn't sure.

„How should I answer it?" I thought, because I tried to speak, but I couldn't.

„You already did!" that strange voice started to laugh and I now I understood it. He was reading my thought's? Or he was able to? Was that telepathy?

„Eh...yes, I always was sad about being a human. I always dreamed about, how it would have been, to have lived as a dinosaur. As the mighty Giganotosaurus." I answered it, or thought about it, so it could understand me. But all I heard, was it laughing again.

„I thought you humans, made the Tyrannosaurus rex, the mightiest of this time." The voice responded in an amused tone.

„Eh...yeah, I know. Tyrannosaurus was awesome too. But...he lived a couple of millions years later. And still, I liked the Giganotosaurus more. May I have a question?" In my thoughts my own voice sounded a bit intimidated. And sure I was. Who was that other voice? Was it possible...?

„Oh sure, you are wondering who I am, right?" the voice answered my demand, without me asking the question, it knew what I was going to ask it.

„Yes...are you god?" I was asking it.

„Well, not exactly. But I do his work." the voice answered my question. „I'm death and I'm the one, that came to take care of you. You died, remember?"

I wanted to nod, but I wasn't feeling my body or anything. I was just thoughts, hanging around in the darkness. „Yes, I know. That car hit me, while I was pushing away that kid, from the street. Is it here with me?" I thought and got somehow concerned about the childs well being, instead of my own situation. It was then, when I could hear Death laugh again.

„No, it's not here with you. It wasn't his time, thanks to you. You took his place, that's why I am here to grant you your wish. Hm...well, but it might be difficult, because dinosaurs don't exist anymore on your planet. But I have an idea." Death was telling me and I got excited over it.

„So you are sending me back in time?!" My thoughts rushed forward and I heard him laugh again.

„Well, something like that..." it was the last time I heard Death talking, because the next thing I felt, was a heartbeat, that almost felt, like I heard an heartattack. I wanted to cramp, twitch, anything.

I could feel my body, but it felt awkward. My limbs were close to my body. I still was in darkness and couldn't see anything. Besides, I felt my eyes and opened them. It was no help. There was still darkness around me and I couldn't move. It was, like I was inside a very small container and there were walls everywhere tight around me. Well, at least the pain in my chest was gone. My heart was beating a bit fast, but that was all.

This damn walls! If I just could move...I tried to lift up my head. And it worked! I could feel my nose rubbing alongside a curved wall. Well, at least I can move my head, I thought and wanted to smile, but somehow my lips wouldn't lift, like I wanted them to.

I pushed my head back slidely and pushed it back again, with all the force I could bring up. And then I heard a cracking sound. Some light went through the curved wall, that now had a glowing, red crack. I still couldn't see much, but now I knew I could break out of here! I pushed back my head again, when there was an earthquake, that made me freeze on spot!

Everything was shaking, the world around me felt like it was the dawn of an apocalypse! And I heard a deep and very loud snarl, that made my whole body vibrate and also the walls surrounding it. I'm going to die a second time...
