You’re The Most Awesome Kobold That I’ve Ever Known

Matthew patiently waited for the humans to pack their comrades and their things to leave the place as soon as possible. And it seems that he didn't need to remind them to move faster as they already moved with incredible speed and efficiency that Matthew even started to admire their work efficiency.

'Maybe they don't like this place and want to go as far away as possible and as soon as possible? I wonder why?' Matthew said to himself while putting on his best 'I really don't know what happened' face.

Matthew then looked at the kobolds who were still standing still behind the entrance of their village even though they had seen the humans leave their turf and went into the woods to not be seen again after.

'I guess it also shocked them a little?'

The kobolds were indeed also confused and shocked when they saw the humans had suddenly screamed and fallen down like flies without even knowing who the culprit was. And they even become warry that whatever it is will be coming after them after it dealt with the humans.

And with their utmost caution, the kobolds still held their weapons tight in their hands and watched the clearing in front of their village with their eyes peeled open to watch out and prepare for the worst-case scenario where the flying swords and invisible attacker will also come for them.

Matthew wanted to just deactivate his chameleon aura ability and waved his hands to the kobolds with the widest smile on his face, but seeing that the humans hadn't finished cleaning up, Matthew decided to just wait first until all the humans went back to where they're coming from as Matthew didn't want to give the humans any idea who and what had attacked them because he was kind of worried that the humans might be able to come up with some kind of countermeasures if he ever gives them even a slight idea how he attacked them.

Remembering what the old kobold had said about the humans succeeded in creating and devising their own kinds of magic, and with the fact that Matthew knew the humans liked to do their own research and development even back in his own world, Matthew had a wild guess that the humans had somehow created an advanced magic system and they may be even had developed magic tools that the old kobolds couldn't even think about existing before.

And just in case the humans had a tool for seeing through invisibility, then Matthew will just be a slightly stronger kobold for the humans since his trump card was made useless with the existence of such tools. Hence he was being careful and wasting a little bit more of his aura reserve is a small price for his overall safety in the future.

While Matthew waited for the humans, he decided to check the notifications that he had been ignoring for the last 15 minutes.

------------------------------------

Notification Log

-Congratulations, you've reached Level 19-

-Level 17 Human Knight Killed-

-Level 13 Human Soldier Killed-

-Level 16 Human Knight Killed-

….

-Level 9 Human Soldier Killed-

-Level 9 Human Soldier Killed-

-Level 11 Human Soldier Killed-

-Level 8 Human Soldier Killed-

-Congratulations, you've reached Level 18-

-Congratulations, you've reached Level 17-

-Congratulations, you've reached Level 16-

-Level 22 Horribilis Brown Bear Killed-

-Level 15 Brown-Tailed Deer Killed-

-Level 11 Brown-Tailed Deer Killed-

….

------------------------------------

Matthew scrolled through the list and searched for the notification about the first human that he killed, then from there, he started counting upwards through the list to see how many humans he had killed in today's battle.

While Matthew carefully counted the humans' numbers, he also noticed that the notification didn't only say the human's race, but instead, it also said their 'job'. The lower leveled soldiers that he killed in the middle of the human formation earlier are around level 8 until level 11 and they were labeled as 'Human Soldier' by the system while some of the horsemen that had he had killed are around level 13 to level 16 and they were labeled as 'Human Knight' by the system.

'I guess this is what God meant when he said that the beast evolved while the humans had a 'job' ?'

Although the humans' levels are varied, with some of them still below level 10 while the others even reached level 17 like the human commander that had become a human knight, Matthew didn't see any outright appearance difference from them. Both the lower leveled and the higher leveled looked the same even though Matthew felt a slight difference in the toughness of the human's muscle as he felt the horsemen muscles give more resistance to his claws compared to the ordinary human soldiers.

But the kobolds are different as their bodies also changed with the level milestones similar to himself that got his body parts 'upgraded' after each level milestone where he would evolve.

'But the kobolds also evolved their bodies. but they also had a 'job' in their race name when they evolved such as the kobold warrior and the kobold mage. So does this mean that the kobolds' growth system is a combination of the beasts and the humans?'

Just like the other questions and mysteries about this new world, after trying to think about it for a while and failing to think of anything, Matthew just decided to keep it at the back of his mind and just focused on thinking about the things that actually matter. For example,

'Although I didn't mean for this to happen, I actually gained a level from his voluntary work! System, my fourth evolution will be in level 20 right?'

'Yes, the Host's next evolution will be in level 20.' The voice in Matthew's head answered.

'Alright that means I'm only a level away. But I don't have any new animal parts that I could add to my current body though… I really wanted to complete the bear's monster data and add his muscles to my body. Just imagining myself breaking half a tree trunk in one claw swipe is like a dream come true…'

'And if I could also use those aura wind blades then…'

'I absolutely, totally, surely, completely have to get it!'

'But, should I get it at my next evolution at level 25 then? I don't know if I would be wasting my special evolution function by doing that, but even with normal evolution, I will get the 'increases' to my body parts right? I certainly need to keep on traveling deeper into the forest if I want to get stronger and if I stagnate my level to level 20, I don't know if I will be strong enough to later fight against a level 25 deer that may reside in the deeper parts of the forest.'

'And I don't know where I can find another bear in this forest. If I went with my deduction about the deeper I go the stronger the beasts will be, then if I go deeper, I will fight an even stronger bear than that last one.'

'I'm barely able to do it last time, I don't know if I would be capable enough to fight a level 30 or even 40 bear…'

'Wait a minute, using the same logic, then that means, the closer I am to the center of the forest, then the tougher the enemies I will be facing, but then that means, I don't need to go closer to the center. I only need to circle around the same perimeter then I won't be meeting the higher leveled beast! That's it!'

'Alright, then it's decided that I won't be going towards the center of the forest until I get the bear body parts and add them to my apex-predator body!'

While Matthew was still lost in his thoughts about his future plans, all the humans had finally left the area and now only the kobolds with their village fully intact without anything missing and a chameleon chimera are present in the area.

The kobolds are still vigilant and cautious and they stood still at their place without making any sounds despite they had successfully kept their village safe from the humans.

Along with the kobolds' silence and the absence of the humans, silence is all there is in the area. And with the quietness, Matthew had finally got out of his own head and realized that all the humans had already gone away.

Matthew was about to deactivate his aura ability, but seeing that the kobolds are also quite traumatized about what happened earlier, Matthew then decided to tone down their fear a little.

With his body still completely invisible, Matthew grabbed one of the swords that were left out on the ground by the hurried human and started walking towards the kobold village.

As the flying sword got closer and closer to the kobold village, all the kobolds started to grit their teeth and held their weapons so tight that some of them started to feel their hands slightly numb.

All the kobolds then saw the flying sword stopped on its own at the entrance of the village, before it moved left and right as if it was threatening all the kobolds that it would slash all of them from left to right.

The leading kobold warrior was about to give its command and fight till their end to protect the kobold children that are under the old kobold's protection, but all the kobolds soon stopped whatever they wanted to do as their minds is trying to process what's happening in front of their eyes.

The kobolds saw that a hazy figure started to appear holding the sword. The figure had 4 limbs, 2 hands, and 2 feet.

And after a few seconds, the figure started to appear more clear as they could see the figure had a similar face to themselves, and with claws at the ends of the creature's limbs, the creature looked very similar to them. The only difference was its color as the creature was green-ish and it didn't have any fur covering its whole body.

When the creature's figure finally became crystal clear in their eyes, they finally saw that the sword that was swinging left and right didn't actually threaten them, but instead, the creature's hand was waving its hand at them in a friendly manner along with a wide smile on its face.

The creature in front of them looked very familiar to them, but they didn't quite remember what it was until they heard a kobold kid's voice shouting from behind their side,

"Big brother Matthew, You're the most awesome kobold that I have ever known!"
