School Enrollment

I walk over to Jacklyn who is on her hands and knees, lean over and wrap my hands around her neck as I whisper " Thank you for everything" into her ear then look into her eyes.

_______________________________________________________________________

I don't think she could take it as after that, she fell back on the floor with a small stream of blood leaking from her nose. I start to panic because I didn't mean to hurt her, while the others start laughing, and even Blake cracks a smile slowly shaking his head at Jacklyn.

As Everyone calms down Lily stretching out said " One more" to herself and sat down at her table working on another piece of clothing.

While we awaited the reawakening of our dear pervert on the floor, who's nose finally stopped leaking blood, I was pulled aside by Blake and Grant, as we began discussing what we would do after tonight.

" We have decided that it would be best for you to live in the orphanage on the outskirts of the city" Grant said, Blake looked reluctant but it seemed their was nothing he could do.

" We can come by sometime and see you when we're not busy with our schooling and training" Blake said " If anyone treats you awfully or anything at all please tell us immediately"

" After you turn ten and get your first class you can join the guild academy and we may meet again when you're bigger." Grant said trying to put on a smile.

" I am ten" I replied in a monotone voice, I wasn't exactly blaming him for thinking I was younger, but I was still displeased. I don't know if it was being a girl or being this short but I was seeming to get more and more irritated when my hight was mentioned in a conversations.

Blake was not entirely supprised at my statement, it seems he was the perceptive one of the group. Grant on the other hand was standing with his mouth open like an idiot.

" But you're so small theirs no way your ten"

Grant said in disbelief. Visibly ticked, I approach the guy and kick him in the shin as hard as I can in my new boots. " Just because you're no longer the shortest doesn't mean you can judge me on my height" I yell at him

" Y-Your voice too, it also made me think you was still a child" Grant said stepping back from the kick supprised at the force it had behind it.

Blake seemingly amused by the situation put on a fake angry face and said " So voice is a good indication too then" attempting to subtly make his androgynous voice more feminine. The others may be funny and fun but I'm now convinced Blake is probably my favorite.

"N-No b-but uh, Jacklyn help." Grant, now being stated at by both me and Blake, shivers trying to understand how he got himself into this situation. He sees Jacklyn finally come to, and asks for her help.

Finding this funny Lily pitches in, " Yah, sis help your boyfriend" Lily then laughs at Jacklyn's face.

Still dizzy from just waking up and slight blood loss, Jacklyn finds herself lying on the floor in a small puddle of blood as, Grant is being stared at by both me and Blake with anrgy gazes that then turn to her, her sister mentioned something about Grant and a boyfriend? The word confused, did no justice in explaining her mental state as she silently hoped whatever happened before to get her into this situation would happen again to help her escape.

As Blake, Lily and I start laughing at the faces of Grant and Jacklyn, Grant looked as if he was wronged and Jacklyn looked even more confused making us laugh harder.

After Everyone calmed down we continue our discussion, and Lily gets back to work.

"So you're ten? How far have you come with your Beginner class?" Blake asks

"Wait, Alice is ten!? But she's so, mrpjhhnkvg"

Saving Jacklyn from the same trap he fell into, Grant covers her mouth before she makes a mistake. " Don't continue that statement you won't like how it ends" He warns, slight fear in his voice

"What's he talking about?" Jacklyn asked to which both Blake and I just smile thinking of how we terrorized Grant, I promise we're not bad people.

"Anyways," I continue" I don't have my beginner class"

" So you're a late bloomer, that truly is a shame." Blake said with discontent

"No, I have a normal class not a beginner one" I tell them

" Huh? Don't you have to keep the beginner class for two years? We just finished ours like a year ago."Jacklyn asked

" Typically it take two years, some take longer some shorter" Blake replied

" Whatever it doesn't matter, I'm curious about the academy can you tell me about it." I ask, attempting to deflect the conversation because I'm not the best at spontaneous lies and I don't feel comfortable telling someone I have died before in another world.

" Well she is a Beastman so she probably had an edge, I saw her practicing some magic earlier she might be a mage? Just some food for thought" Lily intervened

" That would explain how she finished so fast and if she unlocked it early, hmm, I guess it makes sense" Blake gave into the evidence Lily provided

' Thank you Lily, I love you' I thought because she definitely helped me dodge a bullet there.

" The Guild Academy is a school run by the guild to teach new adventurer's some basic skills for survival. In return we are required to stay within the City and complete quests though the guild we received education from for the two years after we complete the course to ensure the safety of the city. They provide lodging and education while we provide our own food and other necessities. During our training" Blake explained

"It is recommended young people who have their first classes go their if they don't have apprenticeship with a profession so they can learn to fight and protect themselves and the city." Jacklyn adds

" You don't have to stay an adventurer, as it is dangerous work. Most people who take the course find stable jobs and settle down though their are still many adventurers." Lily said "That's what I did"

" If you get to a high enough rank you can even strike it big and be set for life" Grant Said his thoughts of wealth plastered on his face.

" Well it seems I know what I'm going to do now" I said " So is their a time I can sign up?"

" Conveniently, School always starts after the eclipse festival, and tonight is the last night for the festival so School should start tomorrow, If we ask the guildmaster we may be able to get you in today!" Jacklyn exclaimed excitedly " ~Gasp~, we could go right now! let's go!" And, Jacklyn was off, In no time flat I was off my feet being carried by Jacklyn, as she runs out the door heading towards the Guild.

"Thanks Miss Lily" I barely manage to get out before the door slammed shut and we were aways down the road. As a seemingly recurring event Grant and Blake were left behind, to chase after Jacklyn's seemingly limitless energy.

To be honest it is kind of concerning how used to her randomly picking me up and running I've gotten, at this point I'll never walk again. Wanting freedom I decide to escape her grasp, but she's too strong, I then realized how physically weak I am compared to her. Seeming to see my struggle she sets me down.

" Don't like being carried?" She asked " Do you like being carried like a child?" I retort

" But, you are a ... Oh sorry I forgot" she looked embarrassed as she was saying this

"I'm a what?" I ask trying to look scary, but failing horribly

"Nothing, let's go, we're here" Jacklyn then turns around and enters the Guild

' When did we get here?' I thought to myself as I followed Jacklyn inside

" Jacklyn your back, What were you and the boys doing today" A women standing behind the Reception counter calls to Jacklyn not noticeing me

The receptionist is a smaller lady with red hair and pointed ears going out from her head rather than up like Jacklyn. She was pale and had red eyes. ' What happened to ugly people' I asked myself because I had yet to see and ugly person. The worst person I have seen appearance wise was Grant and he would be considered somewhat attractive by my last worlds standards. but there's no point in thinking of such useless things.

" Hello Miss Himeko, we've just been around. We've been super busy since we returned from our trip"

" By the way why did you all take so long" Miss Himeko inquired

" Well we encountered some trolls in the forest." Jacklyn said with a straight face

Miss Hemiko gasped, " They shouldn't be in the Beginners woods, we need to tell the guildmaster" and she began to walk off but was stopped by Jacklyn

" But I haven't finished. After we found a new labyrinth, and in the depths lied a dragon made of gold" Jacklyn said " Finally as we were returning we found a scary monster we couldn't identify."

Miss Hemiko's face turned paper white " How did this much change in the forest in such a short time" She tried to reach the guildmaster with renewed effort but Jacklyn didn't let her

" Miss hemiko." Jacklyn said " Yes?" She received as a reply " Please never stop being this gullible, it's hilarious." Jacklyn said with a laugh

Miss Hemiko Finally realizing she had been tricked, smacked Jacklyn on the head and returned behind the desk. " I'm sorry Miss Hemiko your just fun to tease" She pouted

Miss Hemiko and Jacklyn give each other a hug and all is forgiven. For now.

My devious mind instantly formulates the greatest plan for a moment like this I walk up to Jacklyn and hug her leg " Mama, Who is she" I say swaying my tail and lightly twitching my ear while looking up at Jacklyn

Jacklyn seemed confused by my statement, but realization struck her as a fireball ignited behind Miss Hemiko

Realizing things got a little too out of hand I try to correct my mistake and told her I wasn't her daughter and asked for forgiveness for the prank.

~ Five minutes later, Two guys enter the Guild to find two girls with bumps on their heads sitting on the ground being scolded by another lady in a guild uniform~

With both boys figuring out what happened, Grant laughed, as Blake could only sigh and shake his head.

Inside the Guildmaster's office stood three children with bumps on their heads and a fourth who was smart enough to avoid a similar fate.

The guildmaster was an old wrinkled man with white hair and a long beard. Dark sunken in eyes and looked old, but he had a respectable presence, despite the mischievous Grandpa vibe I was getting from him. The whole thing just felt weird, but the others respected him so I chose not to say anything

" So you want to have this one enroll in the academy? you are aware of the stipulations around that correct?"

"Yes sir" we say unanimously

Alright I will need you to answer a few questions he said and hands me a paper

" I can't read this" I say, embarrassed

"Hmm just one second" The guildmaster began rummaging around his desk to find something " Ah, here they are" He then proceeds to hand a small stack of cards to me"

"On the front of the cards are different words in specific languages the back is their meaning in universal, Find the one you prefer for the documents" He says

I begin looking through the cards and none of them make any sence. I keep flipping through until I stumble upon a language that was Familiar, Greek. I was no master of languages but their were three languages I knew well enough, English, Japanese, and Greek. English was because I lived in america my entire life. Japanese was from my biological family, they used english in public so others would understand, but most of the time they spoke Japanese at home, my sister also taught me some so I was relatively fluent in it, For greek, It was a class I took three years of in highschool. My teacher was eccentric and tried to, and I quote ' Revive the greatest language in history', so it was drilled into our heads, he was crazy but, a damn good teacher.

Noticing the translations are the same too I chose that one as my preferred language.
