Game Launch

[Error. The Lich is part of a higher race. The low-level equivalent would be skeleton magician. It is however possible to later progress into a Lich.]

„Ehm, well then I choose the skeleton magician."

´This was kind of anticlimactic. It seems you can't just start as a Lich.´

Alexander could see a slightly yellowish skeleton with an orb in its chest, probably it's Mana core or something comparable, floating in front of him. It seemed to have the same proportions as him, if you ignore the fact that it is just bones. There were also white flames burning in its eyes.

[Please name you character.]

„Can't I first customize my character?" Alexander wondered, since he read that the naming of the character would be the last step before the game starts.

[No. When choosing the skeleton magician you can't customize the character, since the height and gender is the same as your own. Meaning: This is a male skeleton that is 6'2'' tall.]

Slightly confused he asked: „What about the eyes? Can't I at least pick another colour?"

[Negative. The colour of the eyes of undead is defined by the enemies they kill, the things they do and by the skills they learn.]

Kind of down he thought about it again and came to the conclusion that there was no need to mop around and decided to just proceed to pick his name. „I choose the name ´The Ancient One´"

[Your character has been named ´The Ancient One´]

[There are still 5 minutes and 36 seconds till the servers officially open. You can proceed to check your status by saying ´Status´ and assign your attribute, skill, physique and universal points. Since you choose an undead character you don't have the attribute vitality. Constitution is in charge of both health and physical defence.]

[You start with 20 attribute points you can freely distribute. Beware though: Every character gains 5 attribute points with each level up, which are then automatically distributed following the same proportions you distribute the first 20.]

„Status"

[Name: The Ancient One

Level: 0

Race: Undead

Class: Skeleton Magician (+ 5 Int & Ment)

Stats:

Strength: 5

Constitution: 5

Intelligence: 10

Mental Fortitude: 10

Agility: 5

Dexterity: 5

Available Points: 20 Attribute Points, 1 Skill Point, 1 Physique Point and 1 Universal Point

Skills: -

Physique: -]

„Hey system, what do the different attributes do?"

[Strength increases the basic physical attack damage you can deal and increases the maximum weight your weapons can have. Constitution defines the physical defence and health regeneration and also works as the health for undead. It is important to note, that constitution doesn't represent the racial resistances different characters have. Intelligence increases the basic magic damage you can deal and also increases your maximum Mana. Mental Fortitude defines the magical resistance and the Mana regeneration rate. Agility increases the movement speed of the character, while dexterity increases the attack-speed and reduces the reaction time.]

´Hmm. So I should probably focus on Intelligence and Mental Fortitude since just firepower without sustainability is never a good idea. Agility and dexterity become obsolete the moment I learn movement skills or use physique points to boost my manoeuvrability, so I should just use one point on each. Constitution.... Even though I am a magician I choose monstrosities so I should invest a few more points into my physical resistance since I will probably have to fight often.´

„System. I couldn't help but notice that there isn't any health and Mana. And even though you said that strength and intelligence boost the physical and magic damage there isn't a category for those. What is that supposed to mean?" Alexander asked slightly confused.

[This hasn't been announced yet, but ´Reimagined´ aims to be as realistic as possible, so we don't have critical attacks defined by chance, no fixed damage value and also no fixed HP. So the damage a player can deal is defined by the form of the attack and the area of the enemy hit. This way even high level players can potentially be killed by lower level players by striking their weaknesses. Weapons also don't raise your attack damage by a fixed amount, but in percentages. Mana is a bit more complicated, but it was programmed that the players can feel their Mana running low and can judge to a certain degree how much Mana they still have left. Spells and skills also don't consume a fixed amount of Mana and have no cool-down. The amount of Mana consumed is defined by the environment, the skill level and personal proficiency.]

Alexander seemed kind of overwhelmed, but after a few seconds he seemed to wrap his head around it. After he distributed his attribute points his status looked like this:

[Name: The Ancient One

Level: 0

Race: Undead

Class: Skeleton Magician (+ 5 Int & Ment)

Stats:

Strength: 6

Constitution: 8

Intelligence: 18

Mental Fortitude: 16

Agility: 6

Dexterity: 6

Available Points: 1 Skill Point, 1 Physique Point and 1 Universal Point

Skills: -

Physique: -]

„System I want to assign my other points."

A Screen appeared in front of Alexander with two options: Skills and Physique. He first clicked on physique and got a list of possible enhancements. A few of the options were enhancements like [Sturdy Bones], [Regenerating Bones] and [Resistant Bones] which enhanced defence and regeneration, while he was more interested in the offensive upgrades. There were all kind of elemental bones which increased the magic damage of skills that used a specific element. But since he was aiming for something more in the direction of a general upgrade he choose the [Mana Conducting Bones].

[Mana Conducting Bones - Your bones are slightly attuned to the flow of Mana. The Mana cost of skills is slightly reduced and the casting speed is slightly increased.]

´Now it's time to choose two skills. I should probably go with one offensive and one either defensive or a utility skill. Maybe I should go with a mobility skill?´

After Alexander opened the skill section he was nearly overwhelmed, even though nearly all skills were greyed out. He could see that there were even a few low-level necromancy skills he could learn.

´Is it even considered necromancy when an undead uses it? Shouldn't it be called slavery in this case?´

Ignoring the necromancy tree he focused on the other offensive skills.

´Since I am an undead and am probably going to fight against mostly living beings maybe I should pick a death attributed attack? No, I should have a skill that is able to damage all kind of enemies. Since there aren't any cool-downs I should probably go with something that has slight AOE damage. This settles it.´

[Fireball - The most basic fire-attributed skill. Launches a small explosive fireball at the cost of an miniscule amount of Mana.]

´So I just need to choose one more skill. I think I am going with, again, the most basic defensive one.´

[Runic Barrier - The player summons a runic barrier that can absorb attacks. Activating consumes a small amount of Mana. While absorbing attacks additional Mana is consumed.]

Just as he finished distributing all his points he received a message.
