The Twin-Tailed Scorpion

Alright, so from what I can see, there is only one scorpion. This is good, I won't have to split my focus too much. So, let's go!

I begin to creep towards the scorpion, taking note of my surroundings as I do so. The tunnel we are in is pretty wide, enough that I can't touch both sides, even fully extended. The ceiling is also pretty high, but at least I can see it, though I have some help there. Growing off the ceiling are some, flowers? At least they look like flowers, hanging from the ceiling like a stalagmite. These flowers provide some feeling of warmth, and I'd guess they are the source of light anyone would normally have here.

In contrast to the ceiling, the ground is incredibly ragged. With streaks of dirt seemingly plowed in random directions, and almost no light to speak of, it sets off a dreary feeling in my worm bones. The walls don't bode well either, battle scars of many times past painting a picture of gore around this section of tunnel. And then there is the two-tailed scorpion.

Clocking in at almost twice my size as I get closer, my target easily radiates pressure. Scars and dried blood mar the once gleaming carapace of a radiant creature, telling stories of bloodshed and tears. Truly, not an easy opponent. And then, the weapons he's got, or that I can see. Obviously, there are two tails, starting as one and splitting in the middle to form a 'Y' shape of suffering. Then, the two front claws. Those things are huge, and they gleam like diamonds, suggesting unprecedented hardness, I don't want to get caught in those for sure.

Rather interestingly, the scorpion hasn't moved, beyond the subtle shifts to prove it's alive. And it's facing away from me, so I don't really know what it's doing. There isn't anything in front of it either. Could it be... sleeping? It's hard to tell, but that's the most logical deduction.

That is so good for me. Now I can just kind of plan on the fly, and before it even wakes up it'll be dead!

So, a plan then. Hm, let's see here. I could come up from the bottom, and chomp it to death. The problem with that is, I don't think my mandibles can really even pierce this guy. Seriously, that carapace looks tough. I could open up with a void attack, but I can't seem to hold the particles very well. Plus, that's how I see, so it kinda fucks with my vision.

....

It seems some more research into this is required. Let me conceal myself in a wall really quickly.

----------------

Okay, I've done it. After a couple of hours of planning, I think I've got a good battle plan. The entire time I've been planning, the scorpion hasn't moved either. I've just been chilling next to it, and not a muscle moved. Well, some twitched. But that's beside the point, it's time to start moving.

I get into action immediately, burrowing around the sleeping scorpion until I'm under it, about a foot away.

Whooh, deep breaths. Okay, okay. I've got this.

Boom!

I burst out of the ground in an instant, barreling into the twin-tailed scorpion and knocking it into the air. Skree! It hits the ground with a cry. Damn, that thing is hard! I quickly back off, preparing for another shot, but it will be much harder this time. The scorpion springs back on its feet, quickly finding my position and scuttling towards me.

I wait until it gets close before dodging its pincers and biting back with my mandibles. Alas, I am unable to break its defense. I roll backwards, barely dodging the first sting, and I have to throw a dirtball to knock the other one off course. Well, this isn't going to plan. Focus!

I dive underground and monitor the scorpion's movements as I plan out a big attack. The scorpion, not seeing me but not being as dumb as I thought, begins to dig underground as well. Now that is scary. My advantage was almost destroyed simply by being taken off guard by that.

okay, action time! I burt out of the ground with a small stick of void particles gathered in my mouth. It's my best bet on piercing the skin of this thing, so I aim very carefully. The scorpion notices it right before I fire, and I nearly miss, just barely managing t hit the back end and poke a hole.

Skree!

Oh boy, now it's angry. After a scream of pain, the twin-tailed scorpion seems enraged and begins to wave its claws frantically. It almost hits me as I dodge out of the way, burrowing underground to get into a better position. It's rinse and repeat with me dodging it and the scorpion trying to sting me, again and again.

Finally, a chance! The scorpion, in its anger, forgot about its wound, and as I tire it out, it reveals a perfect opening! I burst from the side, mandible crunching into the wound and opening, widening the hole, and shoveling a small amount of the scorpion's innards into my mouth.

Wham! Ouch! The scorpion threw itself back, slamming me into the ground with it on top of me. Thankfully, it can't reach me with its stingers, but the claws repeatedly ram into my side, which hurts. A lot. For my part I don't let go and wrap my body around the scorpion's carapace, crushing it even as I bite into it. Blood is flowing everywhere as my prey thrashes around, unwilling to accept its fate, but it's over. There's no escaping for the scorpion as I dig into its carapace worming into one side and then out the other, causing it to lose a great chunk of its body.

Skree.

With one final cry, the scorpion succumbs to both its wounds and weariness. With a final thrash and one more annoying bump into my body, it perishes.

[Level 14 Twin-Tailed Scorpion defeated]

Phew! Finally, it's dead!

I loved writing this chapter.
