69 Chapter 69: The Horde (2)

After explaining the layout of the base, let's go back to the main topic.

I decided to go outside the mansion, there was a wall where there were guards and watchtowers. I waved and smiled at those who greeted me. I walked to the garage, where I had parked my motorcycle, and rode it to the old mansion.

I reached the mansion, which was now an outpost. The guards opened the gate for me and asked, "Leader, why have you come here?" They looked at me curiously.

"I only came to visit someone." I said.

"I see. Goodbye then, leader." They said. I smiled and said, "Goodbye." I parked my motorcycle and went inside the mansion. They opened another gate for me leading to the mansion, I then walk to a graveyard.

I sighed heavily, "I'm back, old man." I said, looking at the grave. It was the grave of someone I know, who used to own this mansion. He was like a father to me, and he taught me many things. "You know, I have many things to talk to you. Lots of things happened since the apocalypse. I can still remember how my hands shook when facing a zombie in the past, haha." I giggled.

I looked at the grave with a sad expression, "Damn, I wish you were still alive. My dad would surely be happy to see you again, you know? Speaking of him, it's been a while since I last saw him. I still contacted them when things got worse, and thankfully they were safe." I scratched my head.

"What else should I suppose to say?" I sighed again, sat down and lit a candle. "I hope things will turn out to be better." I said, standing up and looking at him and telling him what happened.

Meanwhile, the soldiers were looking at me, gossiping. "Who is he talking to?"

"I heard that it was his grandfather or something. He was close to him, and he owned this mansion."

"Wow, rich guy, huh?"

"Yeah, hey, do you think our leader is amazing?"

"Yeah, he's young, but he managed to lead us all here. He is what you call a natural-born leader."

"Yeah, yeah."

"Oh, yeah, I'm curious. Without him, who will be the second in command?"

"What? You didn't know?"

"Well, I'm new here, aren't I?"

"Good point. It goes like this: Souta is the very top, and he has a right-hand man, Roger. He is a retired mercenary, and he's very skilled and experienced. And he has a left-hand man, Rex. He is a former military officer, and he's very smart and disciplined. Below them are the vice leaders, Amy and Steff. They are the leader's girlfriends, but not because of that, that they got the position. They got there because of how good their leadership and how strong they're. They can handle any situation with ease."

"Also, below them is Jenny, another girlfriend of Souta. I believe she's a mistress, but she's also the acting chief of the base. She leads the people, and she's very kind and caring. And her vice is Russel, a son of a mayor. He's very resourceful and charismatic. He can negotiate and persuade anyone."

"Then there are Shana, the one in charge of public safety. She was a police chief, and she's very brave and loyal. Her right-hand man is William, and her left-hand woman is Sarah. They are both police officers, and they are very reliable and competent. They can protect and serve anyone."

"Then there are the twins, Amy and Lily. They are still teenagers, but they are very strong and good with leadership. They are very cheerful and energetic, and they can motivate and inspire anyone."

"Then there is Isabella, the teacher who teaches everyone what to do. She's very knowledgeable and wise, and she can give us additional information and skills. She's also very patient and gentle, and she can help us learn and grow."

"Then there is Jacob, her husband. He's a mechanic in charge of creating weapons and making our vehicles stronger and tougher. He's very creative and talented, and he can invent and fix anything. He's also very handy and helpful, and he can assist us with anything."

"There are others as well, but you probably know them already,"

Be nodded and said, "Hoh, good to know." He appreciated the information that the soldier gave him. It was important to know the roles and responsibilities of the group members.

While they were talking, a helicopter flew past. It was a rare sight in this apocalyptic world. "Helicopter, huh... It's been a while since I saw one." I said, looking at it. It was a military helicopter, painted in green and black. It had a large red cross on its side, indicating that it was a medical helicopter. "Hmm? It's- burning!?" I exclaimed, as I saw smoke coming out of the helicopter. It was losing altitude and spinning out of control. It crashed into a nearby forest about 10km away from the mountain, creating a loud explosion and a fireball.

We were speechless. We couldn't believe what we just saw. "Damn, hey!" I shouted, snapping out of the shock. "Inform the others about this, the rest of you, follow me. We're going to check out that helicopter." I ordered. I wanted to see if there were any survivors or anything useful in the wreckage. "Yes, sir!" They replied, and we quickly prepared ourselves to go there. We grabbed our guns, helmets, and vests, and ride our vehicles towards the crash site.
