1 Freshman Year

It was the start of my Freshman year in high school. Everybody talked to everybody. There were no "clicks", although there were a few of the female students who thought they were better than everybody. Nobody paid any attention to them though. Teachers were nice. Even the upperclassmen were friendly which made me think, these 4 years are going to be easy. Boy was I in for a real surprise. Don't get me wrong it was easy if you actually tried, but the way my mentality was at the time, I didn't care about school. I only wanted to play basketball. I loved basketball. It's my favorite sport. So when I got the amount of playing time I got on the freshman team I was hype. In my mind I'm thinking, "I'm going to beast up on everybody" and "nobody is better than me". Which I will say that nobody was better than me. The only thing they were better than me at was they actually cared more. I'm getting too far ahead so let me dial it back a notch. Everything was great through the whole freshman year. I had it all. Great friends, good grades, getting a lot of playing time in basketball, but there was one thing missing which I didn't realize until a few months ago. It was something my basketball coach told me one day after practice. We will get into that later on, but for now let me tell you a little more about me and where I'm from.
