1 Chapter 1 - Life, Death, and Regression

"What a nice Saturday morning"

Standing there stood tall a male adolescent with dark black hair and skin color that was between white and tanned

He scanned around the room for a few more seconds before immediately went back to the computer to the right which was currently on and then placing his right hand on a white mouse at the right side of the computer and the other hand on the white keyboard at the left of the mouse

After that, he continued what he was doing on the screen and placed a pair of black headphones from his neck to his ears right before putting all his focus on the bright screen

In about an hour of contact focus and hand movement, the screen went black with nothing appearing

"Crap did the thing have a mess up now I have to find a technician"

The youth sighed before down the wooden stairs towards the door opening it

"Let's see how far was it last time I think 20-minute walk"

He started walking down the road with his skinny body and took about 15 minutes until he arrived at an intersection

There were cars moving from the right and bottom and he was waiting until they were done

"Come on I've been waiting here for like an hour or something"

The sign finally showed the walking symbol and jogged to the other side and heard a noise and voices coming from his right

"Catch the criminal I need unit #2 and #4 to block him off he is currently on a truck full of weapons and is going towards section #231"

He looked and saw a big truck going at fast speeds dashing towards him and just in a few seconds everything turned dark

"The criminal has hit a male youth and is most likely dead"

Those were the last things he heard before his mind spaced out

He then heard a voice in his head and suddenly found himself in a room too dark to see anything but make out somethings from spending countless nights in the dark playing games

"Can someone put a light in here"

"Currently host doesn't have enough authority!"

Then another voice had entered his head that was most likely a different one than the previous

"Who are you?"

"Currently host doesn't have enough authority!"

"Fine what about where I am"

"You are at stage zero the tutorial"

"Ok then what do I have to do to pass the tutorial?"

"Escape"

"To where and from who?"

"You will find out on your own"

After that, he heard the other voice come back with a question and countdown

"Twilight"

He chose his gamer id he used more a lot of things since he felt that is was easier and also liked it

The room became a little brighter but was caused but the flame held in the hand of the massive monster in front of an almost equal-sized black throne

It had two black horns the length of seven pyramids and width about five times less than that and it stood as tall as fifteen Eiffel towers

"It's practically what would happen if a giant and the devil got together and made a baby in this would be it"

The monster moved its dark crimson red eyes toward him and its gaze could emanate its blood lust

"If it shows bloodlust to me that means it wants to kill me"

He looked around for anything and found his self in a desolate black room filled with flames all around and wondered what he was going to do

"Voice thingy is there any kind of cheat of something that I can use"

"No"

It replied in the coldest manner and told that it had no means to help him and that the reason why the tutorial said to escape was since he was by no means going to be able to beat it

"What am I going to do!"

He started running around looking for the exit jumping past the fire and lava all around him until the monster took out a sword from a circle that appeared out of nowhere as if taken from another dimension

"Now it has a weapon too"

He continued to run and ran until he saw an exit area that was different and was behind the throne of the monster

The monster stood up destroying the throne it previously sat on and swung its sword down in a quick second

"HOW DOES IT MOVE A SWORD IN A PERFECT SLASH IN JUST A SECOND"

He had just barely dodged it by stopping his movement and saw the large blade only a few inches in front of him

He had to run to the right to get past the sword and after getting past saw a large black hand with lava all over it coming toward him

He started running with his best speed and barely made it by getting in a space between it fingers sighing from relief that he got away

The distance between where he was and the exit was about a 10-minute walk

"I think I can make it about five minutes while dodging its attacks"

For some reason, the monster stopped attacking and just stood there still paused in action

"What is it doing?"

With the amount of time it stopped moving he was only a few yards away

After he ran towards the final steps at his fastest speed everything suddenly went blank and found himself in the same room where the tutorial started

<Start>

"Wait first of all why am I here again?"

"You have regressed and gained 0.2% additional power but in exchange, you lost some emotion and this happens each time you die until you become an emotionless doll that keeps being killed"

"But you said this only happens when we die right so then why did I regress?"

"Its as you said you died"

"I made it to the end though so I should be out of here instead"

After that images suddenly went into his mind and showed the monster swinging the sword in quicker than a second immediately slicing off his head from his body

"Impossible that means it was playing with me the entire time until and only went serious when I almost made it"

"Yes"

"Then how am I supposed to get escape!"

"That is for you to find out"

The voice then disappeared and he looked back at the giant devil that sat tall in front of him on his throne and his thought about the monster changed

"They're practically asking me to escape because I would probably never in a million years defeat it"

He realized that he had some chances to regress and decided to get the most information he could since it wouldn't go serious and would only die once he ran out of stamina

The first thing that was needed to know if he ever had a chance of escaping was about his area and it was clear since there were geysers with lava instead of water and it was practically volcanos all over

After exploring a bit with 7 more deaths where he first found that there were barriers that made it so that he wouldn't have much area to run and the other thing was that he could grasp a bit of its true power since first it could move as fast as a plane and the other thing is that its strength is enough to destroy an entire building in a punch

It wasn't until a certain attempt allowed him to find out the way to escaping or a certain thought that had been tossed out without hesitation

The run was pretty normal with Twilight dodging attacks and he could remember most of its attack pattern

Punch from the right then grabs a rock and throws it towards the left of him with a downward slash from the sword

That was the attacks it did whenever he went a certain path he judged as the best when looking for information

But this time something happened when he ran towards the right

The monster threw its sword at him and once he missed it hit a geyser and also from the pressure caused by the attack a volcano also burst out lava and from both of them the sword shot out hitting the monster revealing the first blood and it stood only inches away from his

When that happened it revealed a heart but the monster quickly went back up and smashed him with its foot killing him

"Wait if I take the time to make a run for it I will have a chance to escape"

Once he heard the voice say start again he then went the same way where after running at full speed toward the monster and taking a right he would counter by going left and jumping over its nail and continued as it threw a rock at him that would roll towards him

He would run at a geyser and it would become stuck there allowing him to continue

Then the monster would destroy his throne and take out the sword immediately swinging its sword downward with him taking the right side for what happened before and ran toward the area

He saw the second attack from the sword coming where the monster would throw it and baited it to where he was standing and the surprise from before happened again and he watched as it would shoot out towards the devil into its chest

Twilight knew that he could do this another time and decided to ran towards the monster and jumped onto its body from running off of the sword onto its heart

The size of the thing was about as big as three strong adults and he felt the blood all around him and it was practically melting his skin and he yelled hi agony and watched his left hand get burned off

He then punched the heart and it was practically like making a dent in a wall but it still didn't do the job and the monster took out its sword and then stabbed him with about a few seconds until death from blood loss or something he held onto the heart of the monster and pushed the sword into it as well killing the monster

His most important parts, his heart, and brain were still working but all his limbs were practically destroyed and the heard a voice that gave him some hope

He smiled and when closed his eyes from what he heard and thought about what he would see when he regressed this time
