Morpheus Somnus

ADELPHUS' POV:-

The current scene in front of me can only be described as absurd to me. Even still, it was playing in front of me like a nightmare. A kid protected Unia single-handedly. All our attacks vanished like they never existed. Istan's sword was caught barehanded by him.

"Who are you?" Asks Istan as he looks at that kid with a complicated expression. His arms are trying to free his sword but are failing to do so. The kid watches Istan with emotionless eyes before turning to Zwain.

'Glacia, do you know who is he?' I inquire about that kid hoping to find more about him. My instincts are telling me to run, but with the vow being intact I guess I can't. A bitter smile forms on my face as I hear Glacia's voice.

[No. I don't have any idea who he is. He is not on the list of people that are considered a threat to you. But, looking at him I guess it's more than obvious. He is either a monster who was hiding until now or someone who is even above the ones who created the system]

Yavanna aims her bow at that kid as her eyes turn purple from the previous black. She looks at that kid for a few moments who seem to doesn't care about anything except Zwain at the current moment. Then he moves a few steps towards Zwain

The arrow leaves the bow as Yavanna shots him but before it could reach that kid it gets broken into several pieces turning her expression into a shock. He keeps moving forward one step at a time towards Zwain whose feet seems to be planted on the ground.

"Wait! Answer me! Who are you? If you don't answer me right now, I will kill Unia-" Istan shouts at that kid as he threatens him. But stops as he suddenly falls on one foot. The kid stops taking steps and looks at Istan before speaking, "touch Unia and I'll burn Alfheim into ashes."

'Gulp,' Istan stops making any move whatsoever. His feet are frozen on the ground as he looks around. He seems to be thinking about a possible solution to get out of this mess. He then turns at Yavanna who is ready to take another shot at that kid.

"Futile attempt," speaks that kid as arrows start flying towards him. 2..4..10..20..100s of arrows come after him but break before even reaching him. Icicles attack him from all sides including the ground. But everything vanishes in front of him as if never existed.

"Morpheus...Before you kill me, at least tell me...what is it that you are trying to do? From helping Lia to saving Unia. What are you trying to do here? You said that you are neutral then how come you are siding with the Devils? This is something I want to know at least before I die," Zwain speaks as he looks at that kid, Morpheus. Zwain's seems quite anxious. He looks like he has given up all hope. As for everyone else, they are shocked to hear such things. Did he save the Elf Princess? Why? Is he with the Elves? No. If that were the case then he wouldn't have saved Unia then. So he is with the Devil? But then why save Elf Princess. This is getting more confusing by the minute.

"Morpheus, it is you who saved my sister? And here I thought a good-" Istan speaks as he reaches some conclusion on his own. The others turned to look at him but Morpheus interrupts him before he could complete his sentence, "did I... give you permission to speak?"

Istan turns shocked before getting slightly furious at him as he attacks him, "I won't let you kill one of us. Even if I have to die, it is better than to stay as a coward and let my brethren die at the hands of a person who sides with the Devils." He vanishes from his original position and reappears before Morpheus and attacks him with a barrage of slashes. A few arrows complementing the slashes come from the opposite direction and an ice meteor falls from the sky.

"Karina, huh? Looks like there isn't another option. Glacia! Prepare for the best attack we can, it's do or die now," I speak as I observe the meteor created by Karina by her domain Magic. Ready to join the battle I prepare myself to fight.

[No! Don't join them. Look at Unia] Glacia speaks in a hurry. I look at Unia standing there still without making any movement. Observing Morpheus with slightly scared eyes. She is...scared? Is it because of everyone attacking Morpheus? No. She would have joined to protect him. Then...she is...afraid of Morpheus?

All the attacks vanish, none of them connects as Morpheus pushes Istan back. He then looks at the sky, takes out his dagger and makes a slash in the air. Then the meteor breaks into two pieces before completely disintegrating. Horror once again fills everyone as they look at him.

"What are you talking about, Zwain? Kill you? Who is going to kill you? I am here to simply make another deal with you. I am here to ask of you...that...do you want to...save Eslaine?" He speaks as he looks at Zwain with those same emotionless eyes. But...What is he talking about? This is getting more and more confusing. Is he a friend or a foe?

"What are you..." Zwain looks at him confused then turns to Unia who is still standing there.

"Help me collect all the Devils outside of the city and assemble them into the Lesser Leaf Forest, in return, my party will save this city. Simple as that," he speaks as he shows his smile to Zwain. If I am completely honest then that smile after all that emotionless tone is the scariest thing I have seen in my entire life. I can't see through him at all.

[It's okay. He isn't an enemy. At least not yet] Glacia's voice enters my brain reassuring me of our safety from that monster. The surrounding turns silent as they are waiting for Zwain's answer at which he nods slowly with eyes focused on Morpheus.

"Good! After this the final step is to extract the information about Ladros," he speaks as he turns at me. My body turns numb as he glances in my direction, "what the f*ck Glacia, didn't you say that it is okay and he isn't an enemy." I blurt out as I look at the monster slowly walking towards me.

"You said something related to breaking about the soul contract and killing Ladros, right?" He asks at which I could only nod. This is scary damn it. What the f*ck does this monster want from me? The next thing I see is a dagger in my heart as that monster stands there with a smile on his face. Is this how I die?

A few messages appear in front of my eyes shocking me enough to blank my mind for a moment. That monster, Morpheus, is still standing there with a smile on his face. Honestly, he looks like an Angel-Devil combination there. Seriously, just what kind of day is this? Still, one thing that is sure for now is that I am free from that bastard Ladros.

"Are you done thinking? You are free from the contract now, so provide me with any useful information regarding Ladros you have," snapping me out of my thoughts his voice comes as he makes a nonchalant expression. Waiting for me to continue he looks at me with an observing gaze.

"He is going to attack Alfheim in 6 months from now, along with Royal Demon Nergal," I tell him the most crucial information I could give to him. The others turn shocked at my words as they look at me. Istan and Yavanna turn at Zwain who seems to be equally shocked at this. With his [Nature's Eyes] he can easily discern the truth so there is no point in worrying about whether they will believe me or not.

"Is that so? Nice. That makes things quite easier. At least I won't have to go to the Demon Continent to kill that bastard," Morpheus revealed another shocking piece of information quite nonchalantly. He is against Ladros? Then why did...? Then that means...my eyes turn at Unia. Not only me but everyone else turns at her. So that means, "you have decided to change sides from Ladros to Morpheus?" Completing my thoughts Yavanna asks. She is finally showing a relaxed expression.

"Now, that is dealt with and even though I would like to talk to the fire guy a bit more there is still something left which would be better if I don't leave for later," he spoke as he looks at Arlington. Ah! He is here too. I seriously forgot that he existed. His condition looks great, looks like he healed himself. But...it doesn't look like that it is going to make any difference.

"So my friend here, before I talk with others. How about you give me at least one reason not to kill you?" He speaks as his voice once again turns emotionless.
