First Quest(4)

10:30 AM

"Now, tell me..what you know about that pendant?"

I ask looking at them with emotionless eyes.

For a few moments, there is nothing but silence around the area.

'Have I overdone it?' I think as I stare at them.

Looking at them, they seem scared shitless right now.

One of them even peed.

'Maybe'

'Though it doesn't really matter much.'

I move closer to the man and put my dagger at his d**k.

"I asked, what do you know about that pendant?"

I repeat my sentence.

"Do I need to kill one of you to get what I want?" I intimidate them.

Then...

"W-W-Wait, I'll tell you everything I know. Just promise that you'll let us go." He stutters while pleading.

Scanning his expression, he is lying.

I lean closer to him and speak,

"I can detect lies."

"All right...Damn it, I'll tell you everything, you can do whatever you want with them, just please let me go." He speaks the truth this time.

"Okay," I accept his proposal.

He takes a deep breath and,

"It was that girls' plan, she is a psychopath..." He points at Leena and continues, "She is mentally ill since she hit her head against a moving carriage at the age of 9. She has this strange habit of giving hope to people and then breaking them, then she laughs at their misfortune for no reason, later... So that no one can know she kills the victim and...", he gulps before saying the next word and his eyes are clearly shaken,"...eats them." At this point, Lisa and the pixies move away from Leena.

Leena is looking in my direction with a smile on her face.

"She says that she is accepting their grief, for their sake so that they don't have to live with such sadness. She believes that she is doing a good deed." He speaks with his head down, he is a bit frightened.

Silence prevailed for a while

Then...

"Stop making up nonsense, Leena it's not true?" Lisa asks, "It's not true...right?" Lisa asks again with a *he is lying, right?* look on her face.

'Naive'

Leena just smiles at her.

"What about her family?" I ask

"Her mother...She was killed by her the same way and she doesn't have any siblings." He says.

"Father?" I ask again

"He...was devastated...he couldn't bring himself to kill his only daughter...the sole purpose of his life right now is to cure her." He speaks shaking his head," he did everything he could, asked help from everyone but still couldn't find any cure."

'Because it is not an illness it's more about instincts of human beings that kicks in for certain people who fall in that criteria under certain conditions.'

"Why didn't he stop her?" I ask him as I take my dagger back from his d**k.

He breathes a sigh of relief and continues,

"When her mother tried to stop her, she killed her...same happened to a few of her friends...and when she was locked...she started...chewing her own hands." He says as despair starts filling his eyes.

"Do all of you knew about this?" I ask glancing at everyone.

"Yes," they speak with their heads down.

I look at him and ask," Is that all?"

"Yeah" he replies as he spoke everything

'or not'

"Then...let me ask you this, why did her father make a deal with the devils?" I get direct to the point.

".." He looks shocked, his eyes are clearly asking how do I know it?

Well, I really wouldn't have known about it if only... I turn at a person on the right side and directly look into his eyes.

"It's fine, it was more or less obvious"

I speak to the person on the right.

Suddenly he removes his disguise and moves to Lisa.

'At least I'll kill one of you before dying' is what he seems to be thinking.

He takes out a knife and attacks Lisa.

"Kaneto," I call his name.

-clang

A sword comes in between them, stopping the attack of the devil.

Kaneto uses his sword with one hand and blocks the devil's attack effortlessly.

He looks at me, his eyes asking what should he do next.

Then before he attacks again.

I turn back to the man who told me the story and ordered Kaneto while I am turning

"Kill him,"

And Kaneto then kills the devil, splitting him into two halves.

Honestly, at this point, anyone can guess the rough sketch of the story so there is no need to keep the devil alive. Plus he tried to kill someone so at least he should have been prepared to die.

"So...let me guess... The devil promised a cure for her and her father listened to it?" I deduce the gist of the story that must have happened.

Looking at his expression, yup I am right.

I take my dagger out and put it back to his d**k...

"Then Let me propose a new deal" I speak with a 'humble' smile on my face.

After dealing with that we reach the location where the Queen is kept.

There is me, Kaneto, Leraye and Pixies.

There is a den visible in front of us with 2 guards at the entrance.

Looking closely at those guards,

'High devils'

"Now, what should we do next?" I mutter as I think about my next plan.

2:00 PM

BACK IN ESLAINE

4 people sitting around a circular table in a bright room are visible.

Each person has 2 guards standing behind them.

From their face, a tense atmosphere can be sensed around them.

ZWAIN'S POV:-

I am sitting in front of the Human Royal mage, Karina.

On my left is the Pixie Queen, Aria.

On my right is the Wood Fairy Queen, Leilena.

•Karina has a beautiful face with Icy white eyes and blonde hair which enhances her beauty and she is wearing a white dress with golden armour covered on her chest and hands.

Her spear is standing on her left.

She has a very tense face right now and she is clearly irritated by the act of the devils.

•Aria has green hair, she is of the size of my palm and sitting on a chair placed on the table with both her hands on her lap and eyes closed. Her magic is Healing magic and Growth magic, a speciality of Pixies with blessing, with which she heals The Sacred Tree. She is wearing a green dress and Golden Crown on her head.

• Leilena is also small but twice the size of Aria and she looks quite depressed with her head down. Her complexion is of slight brown colour and she too is wearing a green colour dress which has a different design than that of Pixie Queen. She too has a Crown on her head but a bit different in size and shape.

"So how are we going to deal with this mess?" Karina asks directly getting to the point.

"By getting rid of the devils as fast as we can," speaks Leilena, she looks a bit furious. She looks at Karina revealing her complete Brown eyes

"But we have to be cautious," Aria adds opening her eyes that shows a navy blue colour in them.

"About what?" Asks Leilena as she looks directly towards Aria.

"About the devils, if they have successfully kept themselves hidden for so long, they also might have some contingency plans." She adds in an elegant voice.

Leilena wants to speak something but I interrupt her.

"We will be dealing with the devils slowly and blocking their exit from the city borders, and all races must cooperate. If anyone goes against this, then they will be declared as an enemy against the other races. I will be checking each and everyone for a thorough investigation. There also might be a few Supreme Devils among them so tell everyone either to run away or be prepared to fight" I speak everything on my mind.

The others nod at my suggestion.

The meeting continues for another hour before reaching the same conclusion along with added details of who will handle what part of the city and how all the races will help each other.

There were also a few other miscellaneous information added.

After everything was settled...

"Is anyone of you collaborating with the devils?"

I ask looking at them, activating my [Nature's eyes].
