Regalia Z

Humans, zombies and mutants. Lisha didn't expect to fall into the second category. Waking up inside a mountain of wreckage, Lisha understood that the bridge was crossed. She was one of them now. From a normal girl to an ill-liked leader, then to an undead she asked herself. What would those bastards think if they knew what she became? Would they regret backstabbing her? Few humans evolved, and none ever after dying. It was an opportunity to change everything after years of holing up. But how would she be able to enjoy her retirement with a weak body like this? The bottom of the food chain was a harsh world. *** The first 10 or so chapters will be exposing Lisha and the world around her. I'll do a minimum of 4 chapters per week between 1,000 and 1,500 words. Anything more will be bonus. I'll do my best! Credit to Ricardo J. Ferreira for the cover

The Crown

"N-nothing..." She couldn't believe it. There was nothing inside the three rooms.

Lisha sat there like a deflated balloon thinking about her life decisions. She became even more bitter when realizing that they led her to die once. Would she be okay?

'Back to topic.'

Of course, they'd be nothing great. If you were to take into account all the problems the world was facing, these researchers would have fled with their weapons in hand. Would they be happy-go-lucky? No!

Maybe they were even escorted into secure locations eating caviar and drinking vine now.

Shaking off these thoughts, Lisha tried to think positive. She found a pack of battery in the third room for her gauntlet. But this win couldn't compensate for her high hopes of finding a weapon.

They were few things useful to found in physical form inside these research rooms. Without weapons to soothe her hunger for mass murder, the only thing that would be of help was information.

As she charged her gauntlet, Lisha was still amazed by the size of these rooms. With mechanical arms set in different spots, something complex must have been built there.

A soft light brought her back.

"Here we go." Tense from what to come, a board of light appeared in front of her. Although that gauntlet wasn't hers, the emergency code her father gave her was still branded in her mind. Typing in the secret code and bypassing a certain gloom settled on her face.

'He must be alive.'

The nostalgic menu didn't excite her because of unpleasant possibilities and she went directly into search mode to forget about it.

The whole room then shined at different spots, showing nods of information.

Even if she couldn't access critical pieces of information, she discovered the goal of this research room.

"A mecha armour?" How nice would it be if it was still here? But that bastard fled with it! Couldn't he leave it for her?!

"Tch!"

Sweeping the articles appearing in front of her, she found out an urgent notification.

"Mhh?" It was a list of all artefacts produced in this aisle that needed immediate transfer.

"So I'm in the Physical Weapon Aisle..." What could she gain here if every researcher fled with their weapon?

"I'm just hoping... wait! Scanning artefact?" As she scrolled the list, one of the objects caught her attention.

Artefact: Leaf Crown

"That's what I need!" She wished to gain information on mutants and the world but with limited access, she would need a lot of time to gather them. Asking questions to someone was also close to impossible else she tied them and... well, she needed something to understand her body.

With this, she would be able to understand what was going on with her.

'Where is it?' there was no indication of where that artefact could be. There was only a tag -In Production-

"In production? They shouldn't be building it outside the library. Is it on this floor? Aaah! I need a map!" Going crazy, Lisha swept clean any nods around her to find it and downloading everything else while at it.

"Not here!... The hall!"

'It's something obvious! Emergency maps are always in halls, always!'

Running back there, anyone who could see here would give her +1 for the zombie play.

"It is here! Yes."

To laugh or to cry, she didn't know what to do.

"HEPHAESTUS, it must be where artefacts are built. But, it's Underground." And if her memory wasn't wrong, then the ground floor was swarming with monsters, and she needed to cross it.

...

'Not gonna give up!' No one would ever help her. There was also at least one group of people who lived on the nearby floor with enough firepower to blast a whole ceiling.

She couldn't stay here. She needed to pick the good stuff here and get out from here. She didn't know how long this pack of Nyx lived here and why, but she knew that such tasty meat would attract greater mutants.

The exploration was still ongoing. Maybe this floor would surprise her again... in a good way.

"That explosion did a hell of noise though." Lisha reviewed again her life decisions.
