1 Prologue

Picture this

You open your eyes to complete darkness. It's the kind you see when you don't even have a sliver of light, let alone, the moon to guide you.

"What," You try to say from some lost memory you assume is yours. It's as the words come out in a garbled mess, you realize you don't remember a home, a family, never mind the words necessary to even talk. Everything is scrambled and all you can feel is a blinding panic the likes you assume you've never felt before.

Your heartbeat begins to quicken even as your breathing does the same and you scream. Some half-remembered memory telling you that screaming would gain attention.

You get what you want.

Attention, I mean.

You hear as voices begin to surround you and a knocking sound sounds from whatever is holding you captive. Then another knock starts somewhere near your legs. On and on it goes, until like some mad crescendo in an opera song it slows down as you begin to see light.

What happens then?

Then the crazy opera song continues with your voice as it hits high notes you couldn't even think to try to remember you could reach as steel bands in the form of grasping fingers, some half rotten, some just a bit pale and stiff, pull and pull before pop goes your legs and arms.

The last thing you hear is the sound of a hungry belly as you deliriously think of hamburgers, cheese, prosciutto ham and others with no name. All the food your useless memories give you a taste of but you know you never will taste ever again and you crave for it.
