chapter 9

"...where are my clothes."

It was the very first thing I asked the moment I was awake. Unlike the Original Rimuru, I didn't have the luxury to have been able to use magic perception while sleeping.

He could probably do it because every part of his body was a separate cell so he didn't really need sleep.

Meanwhile I had a functioning system, so once one shut down everything shut down. But I just assumed that the goblins had fought each other to whoever could take care of me while I was asleep.

They may have wiped me clean while I was asleep... damn, I hope they were at least girls that washed me.

Flicking my wrist, I spun myself a new pair of silky white clothes that resembles a white shirt and pants.

Though they were mostly just bands of silk wrapped around my body so they looked more like tight bandages than anything.

I walked out of the makeshift tent that the chief had been using before and was immediate greeted with the ridiculous sight of the goblins and direwolves awaiting my presence.

...That really is ridiculous.

Before, each goblin would only measure to about 4 ft tall but now what was the reality? Some were about 5ft tall, others were 6ft, while the blessed ones were 7ft tall.

Heck i myself was only 6ft tall so having goblins taller than me really hit my ego but I'll just grow taller later.

I don't understand why boobs were a necessary evolution but whatever.

The wolves were clearly taller, they're at least 10ft in length while the largest one in front of them was a staggering 16ft.

Ranga, you beast! God damn!

"My master!" this beast of my worst nightmares bellowed in a fluent human tongue. "How it elates me to see you well once more!"

"Ah, Ranga! It seems you and your pack have evolved successfully. Very nice, very nice."

I nodded in a confident smile and reached out to path Ranga's head, causing his tail to wag furiously behind him which ended up creating a storm that sent Gobta flying.

He really is just unlucky isn't he?

"Where's Rigurd?"

"Here I am Rimuru-Sama!" A bellowing voice called out beside me and I was immediately terrified.

"HOLY FUCK, WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!"

I knew he was tall but not fcking 9ft tall, the slime novel or anime really did him injustice on how he was portrayed like holy crap!

"Hmm? Ah, thanks to your name Rimuru-Sama, I have evolved!" He stated, flexing his well toned goblin muscles at me.

"...Rigurd."

"Yes!?"

"Are you sure you aren't part troll..."

"Nonsense Rimuru-Sama, I am a full-fledged Hobgoblin!"

That... why is a Hobgoblin so big? Did he become a goblin king??

Wait, no great sage, don't answer that. Its probably that.

Heaving a defeated sigh, I merely shrugged and let things the way they are. If I spent too much thinking why a goblin was taller than a fucking horse is the moment I'll start losing my sanity

First things first.

The lack of clothing was very much a problem, I understood why Rimuru was very happy when he met shuna as I didn't enjoy the fact I can see goblin... bodies from time to time. Even if they were boobs

Second

Shelter, I just feel bad when I see Rigurd sleeping in front of the the tent like a dog. It's scarier when you take into consideration he sleeps beside Ranga which is just... nightmare fuel.

At least food ain't an Issue.

I saw a mountain of food piled up before me.

Back in their regular goblin days, they'd eked out a living off fruits, nuts, edible plants, and whatever monsters and animals they could hunt down. Now, with the aid of their tempest wolves, they could cover a lot more terrain.

But relying on hunting and gathering would leave them in danger if something happened to their environment. They'd have to start thinking about agriculture pretty soon. A steady food supply is the key to a life of plenty.

Black rice, I'm really curious on what they taste like.

Today, though, I just wanted to shut off my brain and enjoy the feast. And I did.

Well into the night, we celebrated our evolution, the end of war, and—most important to me—my recovery.

Sadly there wasn't any alcohol... or cute girls like Shuna or Shizu, heck maybe Hinata too.

The next day, I gathered the entire population around me. We had a heap of issues to tackle, but I had something even more important to tell them.

"Alright, thank you everyone for coming." I started with the courtesies before getting into the thick of things. "Rules, without them we'll just be mindless beasts so just follow these 3."

1. Do not attack human beings.

2. Do not fight among your friends.

3. Do not look down upon other species.

"Could I ask a question?" Rigur shouted. "Why are we not allowed to attack humans?"

Rigurd gave his son the dirtiest look I've ever seen from a hobgoblin.

Relax, I'm not a tyrant.

"Good question Rigur," I clapped my hands to make him at ease but ended up causing the entire population of goblins to clap alongside me and for the wolves to howl.

...wow.

"Anyway, the reason why you aren't allowed to attack humans is simple. I don't want them getting angry at us, if you pick a fight with one then they'll just come with more people and hit us back harder."

I can't handle the entire kingdom of Farnus yet so please, follow my words.

"Plus, I like the humans."

"Ah! Very good! I understand!"

Nodding, I went back to my discussion and answered the usual questions that the goblins asked such as why is the sky blue and why shouldn't we look down on other people.

"Rigurd, I'm assigning you as Goblin lord."

I wasn't about to get caught up in politics, plus a monster ruling the monsters at the moment would make sense.

I was still a human inside this body after all.

"Y-yes, Sir Rimuru!! I promise you that I, Rigurd, will devote myself body and soul to this vital post!!"

I brushed off his enthusiasm and focused on the main issue at hand, the construction work.

WHICH IS BAD, I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT, GREAT SAGE HELP.

<>Confirmed. Gathering information about construction work.

Thank you.

Clothes and construction work, it was pretty much the main issue right now but of course it wasn't the most important one.

"Rigurd, there's a Dwarven kingdom nearby right?"

"Ah, expected of Rimuru-sama, you could feel the mighty presence of its heroic king from miles away."

Okay, that's ridiculous but whatever.

"I'll go and visit them, can I leave that to you?"

"Ah! Ah, of course, Sir Rimuru! I'll have everything for your journey by tomorrow afternoon!!"

I watched as Rigurd hastily ran away to make the arrangements for me which made me sigh.

I'm getting closer and closer to meeting her.

Shizu.

Let's just hope I can get your skill without you dying.
