1 Prologue

The stars are shining bright in the dark sky, cold and crisp air is making my watery eyes itchy. Standing on the cliff, both of us are breaking heavily.

"What?! What did you just say?" he asked me

"I said I can't take this anymore," I said as my voice broke. I wiped my tears, taking deep breaths.

"You can't take what anymore Ava?" he asked me while grinding his teeth in anger.

"I can't handle your insecurities anymore Liam, you have become so possessive and controlling these days. Like right now you are fighting over the thing, that I went to my friend's house to work on the project."

"You don't even tell me before going." He said with a frown on his face.

"I told you, I told you that I was going to my friend's house for project work," I shouted, frustrated with his questions.

"You didn't tell that friend was a guy and that you both will be alone." He said taking a step towards me.

"Does that matter?" I asked him.

"It does, yes It does matter to me." He said pointing his finger to his chest with a scowl on his face.

"I just don't understand, why don't you trust me, Liam?" I cried.

"I do trust you," he said and I wanted to believe him but his actions proved otherwise.

"Then why are you making such a big mess of this thing, we were just working on our project," I shouted.

"How would I know?" he said and I looked at him confused.

"How would I know that you both were 'only' doing project work and nothing else? You both could have been doing anything. How would… " He emphasized 'only' and I didn't let him finish his sentence and slapped him straight across his face.

"Mam?" I heard and opened my eyes. I saw John, my assistant, standing near my table with worried and confused expressions.

"Are you okay mam? I called you so many times, but you don't reply. Is everything alright? And why were you crying?" he asked me and I looked at him confused.

'Crying?' I thought and brushed my fingers on my cheeks which were wet because of my tears. I immediately wiped them and tried to cool down by drinking a little water.

"I am fine John, don't worry," I assured him.

"Alright mam, I just came to ask you something. Is it okay if it's left-right now? It's almost midnight." He asked

"Yes, you can. Please don't forget to bring Mr. Matthew's file on Monday"

"Yes, mam. Good night."

"Night John," I said before he left.

Leaning back on my chair I closed my eyes. 'Why can't I forget that night even after 4 long years?' I thought.
