Chapter 47

Looking into a pair of familiar eyes, my hand slacken and trembled as I bit my trembling lip.

His eyes were brewing with anger as he tightened his hold on me before barking orders to his secretary.

"Send her to the clinic"

The pitiful sobbing Shaoyan was taken away by An Yi Wei's secretary as the two of us walked inside his office.

"Yi- Yi Wei" I quiver as I called out his name softly.

"What the hell was that?" I could hear the suppressed anger in his voice.

I already expected this, by the time we finish this talk, everyone in this company will know that their CEO's wife is a jealous shrew with a tendency to make chaos and threatens the people below her.

It's always like this, I've grown numb at their mocking and pity.

"You're h-having an a.. affair with that vixen!" I shouted, trembling as I say those lines.

He closed his eyes and sneered before spitting out his words.

"You're delusional Caia Xiu, I suggest you stay away from my sight now or else..." He trailed off and sigh then continued "My patience for you is thinning, I already called for our driver, you can now leave"

"Yi Wei-" I was cut off by his apathetic eyes and stepped backward, my eyes tearing up until tears rolled into my cheeks.

I understand him since he already told me, several times, that he is not in an extramarital affair with someone.

He didn't lie to me yet 'Caia Xiu' still refused to believe.

It's what the world dictates, it's already out of my reach yet I still jump around like a clown trying to get it.

If my parents knew about our real relationship, they would file for divorce already.

I admire my parents, I grew up watching them share their affection, seeing them smile genuinely made me believe that love conquers all.

It's not.

There are a lot of things to fulfill besides true love, I believe that love doesn't circle our life, it's just something that we may or may not have in the future.

As I went down the company, I could feel the burning gaze from the sidelines, I could almost imagine the look in their eyes. As if they were seeing a new topic to be talked about, something that they would chat and added their insights on, and I, I would become their entertainment.

I slumped on the car as the familiar zip faded, my bones were still locked in tension as I lift my eyes to the other side.

I saw Shaoyan being escorted out to the company, An Yi Wei's secretary was talking with someone else as I watch them.

Then all of a sudden, I felt someone looking at me and notice Shaoyan with a smile on her face, it raised goosebumps into my skin and when I blinked, it was gone.

She was rushed to the car and they faded away through the busy streets, it's as if what happened earlier was just a figment of my imagination.
