Chapter 29

Stepping a few steps away from him, he made his way to Nai Nai, the cufflink that I bought for him four years ago was bare for anyone to see.

I closed the door and followed him inside, the moment I turn around I was hit by his back. The smell of pure masculinity and a hint of rosewood hits my nostrils, I get a bit teary eyed from the accidental hit making me step back and gently wipe the stray tears away.

"Stupid" I heard him mutter though I didn't get to say anything when Nai Nai shouted for us to come over.

I can only glare at An Yi Wei's back and follow him on the same direction not noticing the slight upturn of his lips.

"Nai Nai" I heard him say then heard Nai Nai's curse.

"You unfilial child! You dare bully my precious Caia! Hmph, see how I sort you out after this! Oh, this poor lady, oh! My heart aches, it truly is!" I can see in the corner of my eye, An Yi Wei's obedient expression and sometimes his act of nodding as if he was truly affirming Nai Nai's words.

Heh, if that was indeed true then I would've been spared in my last lives.

I took my sight away from him, not noticing the pair of dark eyes following my every action.

"-hear me?! I'm telling you, I'm already getting old! I need to hold my grandchild before I go to the underworld!" Nai Nai huffed, her cheeks were stained with a hint of red and she collapsed on her seat.

"Nai Nai, what are you talking about?" I walked to her side and held her frail hands. "You're going to live for a long time, maybe you'll be able to see your future grandchild's wedding" I joked making her burst into laughter.

"Aiya, my darling Caia sure knows how to talk eh?! Good, good, good!" Her eyes lifted in happiness as I smiled at Nai Nai's obvious glee.

"Don't worry Nai Nai, I'll work on it later"

If I was still that young and ignorant Caia, I would have blushed best red at his ambiguous words. I can only try and fake myself into thinking that I was that shy and gentle wife Nai Nai knew and 'shyly' avoid their eyes on me.

"Don't be embarrassed!" Nai Nai joked around more when Butler Lin's voice knocked as out of our carefree atmosphere.

It's time.

"We'll be going now Nai Nai" she just nodded her head, her smile is still intact which puts me in a good mood.

We left Nai Nai's room and I was about to turn into my room to freshen up when a familiar hold stopped me.

"What is it?" I calmly asked, my eyes staring straight at his.

He pursed his lips and I could feel that the hallways seem a bit cold, I would like to warm myself up if it weren't for him.

"What I said back then-"

"I understand, it's fine, is there anything else?"

I clapped loudly inside my head seeing the shock on his eyes though it was covered easily by his indifference.

"It's great that you understand" It feels like he was spitting out the words but I really didn't care.

I still need to go to my room and preferably take a jacket on my room.

"I'll be going now" I lowered my eyes and signaled tell him to let his hold on my hand go.

He saw my intention and I soon turn my back on him and went to a corner not noticing the tight grip of his hand.
