70 Party Invitation

"See? I got your name. We are partners now." Veronica smiled brightly looking at him.

"Wait what?" What the hell? He thought Anastasia would do some cheating to get his name in the chit so they could be partners. But how did this girl picked it up? He don't want to stay with her. It will ruin the whole mission for which he came here.

"Stop lying Veronica. You didn't got his name. I did." She showed her the chit. "See..."

"What? How?" She snatched the chit out from her hand and checked. She was in disbelief. She opened her own chit and saw someone else's name in it.

How is this possible? before she checked she got Ezen's name in her chit. How did it got changed in a minute?

Anastasia glanced at Veronica's chit and smiled. "Aww. You got Kevin. Go towards him. He is trying to find you." She called Kevin over.

"Your allotted room is A16. Take care of the patient." Miss Mina said while giving information to the two students. Half of the class was empty, only few students were there chatting. "Guys! Get your partners and go fast. Your patients are waiting."

"Excuse us please." Anastasia said while going past Veronica. She held Ezen's hand and went towards Miss Mina to get their allotted room. They got room B12. While checking details about the patients, they left the class, leaving Veronica disappointed.

Kevin, her partner glanced at her and noticed that her mood was not good. She looked angry and a little bit scared too.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

Veronica didn't replied anything. She glanced at her phone with a tense expression. When she heard the phone ringing, she got stunned for a second. She checked her caller Id and saw Larissa's name popping up.

Looking at her name was enough to frighten her. What is she supposed to reply now? She failed her task. Hopefully, Larissa won't kill her boyfriend because of this.

"God knows why Venessa was acting like that." Anastasia thought about it. "It's suspicious."

"Oh yeah? Is this why you were making faces there?"

"What faces?" Anastasia asked while acting innocent. She completely forgot about it earlier.

"Don't be innocent." Ezen crossed his arms. "According to the white magic rule, you are not supposed to use your powers in your daily life. You knew about it but still, you broke the rule. Why is that?"

Ezen knew Anastasia was jealous about him talking with Venessa. He asked her this just to check if she admit it or not.

"Ohh... So you are talking about that?" She knew it was against the rule but at that moment it was necessary. She don't regret doing it. "You came for me, right? So it is your duty to protect me. If Venessa took you as a partner then it would have ruined your whole plan. What if something would have happened to me while you were away? I didn't break any rules. It was my way of self defence."

"Really?" Ezen was still doubtful about her explanation. He knew it was only half truth. Anastasia would not do all this just so he could protect her. She was definitely jealous. She is just too proud to admit it.

No worries. He would wait for the day she will admit it. After all, how long can a person hide their true feelings?

"I don't know what you are thinking but snap out of it. The patient is waiting. If we got there late, Miss Mina will give me F and I can't stand it."

"When did I stopped you? Let's go"

Inside the room, Anastasia was checking the patient who was laying unconscious on the bed. After determining he was fine. She took off her stethoscope.

"What were you doing to him? Is he alive?" He said while staring at the middle aged man. The energy he was getting from him was very weird. Looks like this person was traumatised by something before he got unconscious.

"I was checking his heartbeat." Anastasia said disappointed. "There is no reaction from him. He had been unconscious for more than 24 hours. It's not good for him."

"Try injecting him with physostigmine, maybe he will wake up."

"How can you be so sure Ezen? Physostigmine is an antitode of propofol. It is used to wake a person up after giving them anaesthetic. Mr David is just unconscious. He doesn't need it."

"Just try it." He took physostigmine in a syringe and injected the needle into mr David's arm. It didn't looked like he was doing it the first time. He was very skilled with the technique.

When did he learned it? Anastasia thought. It took her 1 year to learn how to inject the needle. And Ezen did it in a minute? She was very jealous about it.

"Ezen are you sure this going to work?" She whispered in his ear softly. "If something happened to him, forget about practicals. They are going to take away my license."

"If something happened, it will be on me. You don't have to worry about that." After injecting the needle successfully, he kept it aside.

"Does that mean something is going to happen?" Anastasia became nervous. She could see her dream of becoming a doctor fading away.

"Shush. Why are you being so dramatic? Calm down, nothing will happen. Just trust me once." He tried to console her. He glanced at Mr David and noticed his fingers moving. "I think it's working." Even he was stunned. Before coming here he read about this from some book. He was finding it hard to believe that it actually worked.

"What the hell? How did you do that?" Her mouth stayed opened in shock. Years of studying and no one told her about this? What kind of doctor is she?

Anastasia quickly ran towards her patient to check on him. "Mr David, are you okay?"

Mr David slowly opened his eyes. His body pained like hell. He glanced at his leg and saw it had plastered on it.

"What happened to me?"

"You were found near the forest yesterday night. Maybe you had an accident." She saw him struggling to get up. She helped him to sit and waited for him to speak.

"I- I really don't know what happened yesterday." He pressured his brain to remember but it hurted him more.

"It's okay don't take stress. You should rest a bit." After calming down Mr David, she made him sleep. She looked at Ezen who was now staring at something. "What happened to you now?"

"Look at his arm."

Anastasia checked his arm and noticed a pentagram circle carved in his arm. The wound was not fresh but she could still see the cuts properly.

"Does that mean?" The pentagram is drawn on a person who is going to get sacrificed. So Mr David was a sacrifice?

"I told you, the cult members won't stay quiet unless they get what they want." Yesterday night was the start of 26 June. Maybe the cult members wanted to use Mr David as a sacrifice for something. He might have gotten hurt while running from them. Make sense why he doesn't remember anything. They wiped his memory off.

"Screw them! I am calling the police. They will handle them nicely." Before the cult members were only after her, and now they want to kill others too. It's not good. She has to do something about it.

She quickly took out her phone to dial 911. While she was doing it, some unnatural force came and slammed the phone on the ground.

"I am so sorry darling. But I don't think you are allowed to do that." A woman with an olive skin tone came inside while smiling. She had long black wavy hair with purple highlights. Looking at her, Anastasia started to feel she has seen her somewhere.

"You are not allowed to meet the patient now. We are checking him currently." She thought maybe the woman was a relative of Mr David, that's why she asked her to go out politely. But the woman didn't listen. She was not interested in her talks. She moved towards Ezen and stared at him with passionate eyes.

"It's been a decade Ezen. Nice to meet you after so long." The woman smirked.

What? How does this woman know him? Anastasia thought.

"Sadly I can't say the same about you." He couldn't believe the nerve of this woman. "I already killed you once, you came here again? What is your plan, Larissa?"

"Larissa? You mean she is Larissa Perez?" Anastasia got shocked. How could she not recognise her face?

"Can't believe you still remembered me." Larissa chuckled. "To be honest i didn't expected you guys to be here. I came from him but... looks like it was meant for be." She lied. When she knew Veronica didn't completed her task to separate them. She had no choice but to come here.

"What do you want? Here to kill me again?" Anastasia glared.

"Aww. You are so sweet. I am not here to kill you." She went towards mr David and snatched a thread from his leg. "I came for this." She showed them. "After all he was of no use. He ran away with my thing. I am just here to collect my property." She held his arm and erased the pentagram completely to hide the evidence. "And also, wipe my traces."

"Why do you guys do that? Do you not feel any pity for them?" How can they be so cruel?

"See... you got to do what you gotta do. We only sacrifice people for our survival. Even humans do this . How are we bad when it's a universal thing?" In this world, only strong one survives. Weak one always gets killed. "In a moment we do anything to protect ourselves. Just like you guys did. I forgot to say this but congratulations on your wedding. I am so hurt that I was not invited." Larissa said sarcastically. "Lilith might be so proud of you. Right, Ezen?"

"It's none of your business." Ezen knew she was taunting him. Even if he broke hell's rule by marrying a human. What does Larissa has to do with it? Maybe she is still salty about being rejected by him years ago. "If you are done then get lost."

"I am going but before that, I have something for you two." With magic, a letter came in her hand. "It's an invitation for the Gold festival. It's been a decade since you haven't been there. I thought I should invite you too." She tried to hand the letter to him.

"Not interested. Keep it to yourself." Larissa was calling them to a party? There was definitely something cooking up.

"I know you would do that." Larissa sighed and handed it to Anastasia. "At least you come. You are our special guest. The party would be incomplete without you. Take my apology and accept it. Please?"

"I'll think about it." She took the letter just to not be rude. She had no plan of going in the party.

"As you wish." She smiled. "You guys want it or not. I know you all will come. I'll be waiting for you." She said this particular looking at Ezen. "See you on Sunday. Bye."

Larissa left after doing her job. Her next plan will start on Monday. She knows Ezen and Anastasia will not come but she has an ace card no one knows about. They would definitely go there.  All she has to do is wait for that day to arrive.
