Natural Enemies

I could feel the ground thundering after it and I reflexively leapt back as the creature barrelled towards me in the snow.

What the hell was happening?

This time I could see its enormous outline clearly, the spiked tails it used to bludgeon me earlier, swirling around the white mist that was its mane – I could even make out a faint hint of blue fur marred with purple stripes, as it ran. The creature moving so quickly it's misty camouflage couldn't keep up.

Nope. Heck no.

I blinked away before the heavy creature hit me like a freight truck. Breathing hard as I came out in a snow covered forest several metres away.

How the hell did it get there so fast? My heart thudded wildly in disbelief.

It had to be tracking my blink somehow, so I rolled around in the snow to hide my scent just in case. I couldn't stay long because I had to get back to Ophelia, but this should be enough to get the creature off my tail for now.
