A knock on Adrienne's door made the three of them fall silent. They looked at each other, wondering if someone had overheard their conversation.

"Miss Addie, it's me." They heard Uncle Mo's voice from outside.

"Enter." Adrienne answered while Mother Wang sighed in relief. It would be troublesome if it was one of the maids Camilla employed to spy on Adrienne.

Uncle Mo entered at once and delivered a small letter to her. He looked as if he had rushed to see her.

"This came from your Uncle Reese. It must be important."

Adrienne eyed it for a moment. She gestured for Mother Wang to take it and open it for her. An elegantly written message in a small card was revealed. She could recognize the handwriting as her Uncle Reese's.

"The mother sparrow wails at her empty nest."
