Confession?

Mia walked up the creaky stairs with her mother, her heart pounded as the staircase groaned beneath their weight, echoing her fear.

She walked towards Raven's door, her feet dragging against the carpet, but without a pause, she kept walking.

Mia's mother's gaze lingered on her daughter before she walked after her.

Mia made her way to her door and carefully opened it, feeling the cool metal on her fingertips.

When they stepped into the scene, they were greeted by a magical, twinkling atmosphere.

The walls were painted with soft shades of pink, almost like a delicate petal of a rose.

Every corner of the room was filled with stuffed animals, their soft fur comforting beneath her fingertips.

She walked into the bright white walk-in closet, where she found her mother standing.

"Pick the best set for a date."

Mia's mother raised an eyebrow and rummaged through the closet for the perfect outfit, asking, "So, confessing on the date is your plan? Who's going to tell Raven that he's adopted?"

Mia blushed, feeling the soft fabric of her pink bedspread beneath her as she kicked her legs up in the air. "I will! I will do it all! Just give me some money for the date."

As Mia's eyes lit up with enthusiasm, her mother couldn't help but laugh, and passed over a small sum of money. "Alright, here's some pocket money for your date. But remember, Mia, it's important to approach delicate matters like Raven's adoption with care and sensitivity."

With an eager nod, Mia's eyes glowed with a determined light. "I know mom! But I really don't have a choice now seeing that Raven can even attract my friends."

Sitting beside Mia on the bed, her mother's warm smile filled the room. "Raven has changed a lot since the summer break, and that's why I'm allowing you to do this in the first place. But please do remember that this is a topic that can't be taken in lightly."

Mia squeezed her mother tightly, feeling the warmth of her embrace.

"Come on, I know this! But Raven has matured a lot after the summer holiday." Mia muttered

She got out of her mothers arms and slipped into her chosen outfit.

She put on a beautiful pink dress with airy fabric and delicate lace trim, and paired it with white flats decorated with a small bow.

Mia carefully arranged her hair until it cascaded in glossy, loose waves down her shoulders and used a hint of lip gloss to finish her look.

Once she was ready, she stood in front of the mirror, her eyes sparkling with admiration for her reflection.

Her heart thumped as a blend of thrill and apprehension filled her.

This was the day she would confess her feelings to Raven and reveal the truth about his adoption.

Mia's mother's smile was like a ray of sunshine, radiating warmth and pride. "You look absolutely lovely, Mia. Just be yourself, and everything will work out. Remember, whether Raven returns your feelings, what matters is that you're honest."

Mia took a deep breath and left her room, her mother's words of support lingering in her mind as she prepared to follow her true heart.

She glided towards Raven's room and gave a gentle rapping on the door with her knuckles.

Raven opened the door, and when his eyes met his sister's, his expression softened in surprise.

"Damn Mia, why are you looking all jazzed up?"

Mia felt her cheeks heat as she tried to find the words to respond to his comment. "Th-that... Mom won't be making dinner, so I'll take you out."

Raven blinked and thought a little about it and changed into more fitting clothing.

He was more than happy to accept the offer of a free meal from his sister.

He walked out of his room and smiled, playfully ruffling Mia's hair. "Well, if you insist. I can't say no to a delicious meal and good company."

His response made her heart pound, and she had to steady her breath consciously as she pushed her nervousness aside.

She had to concentrate on both her confession and disclosing the truth about his adoption.

She had to take care to balance her responsibilities.

As they walked to a cosy restaurant in town, Mia kept stealing glances at Raven, her skin tingling with excitement.

She could hear her own heart beating, and the warm, comforting smells of their favourite dishes filled the room as Mia and Raven conversed over the table.

They laughed, the sound of their joyous voices filling the air, and shared stories, growing closer with each passing moment.

Mia glanced at the clock and saw that they had three hours left until eight o'clock in the evening.

Raven felt a sense of unease when he noticed his sister's strange behaviour.

He noticed her cheeks flare up and her voice stammer when she looked at him.

"That, Mia. Do you have anything to say?" Raven asked, his gaze lingering in her eyes.

Mia felt her Adam's apple roll and heard her heart beating faster as she felt his gaze on her. "Well… do you want to see a movie?"

Raven was transfixed, his mouth agape. That's it?

"Anything else?" Raven continued to investigate.

Mia felt a sudden surge of panic grip her chest. A couple of hours ago, she had been strong and confident, yet now all of her courage seemed to be gone as she used her mother as an excuse to ask him out to dinner.

She started speed walking ahead, the smell of popcorn permeating the area as she entered the cinema.

Raven followed behind and honestly stopped asking questions, seeing her embarrassment.

"What are we watching?" Raven asked, his fingers lightly tapping the screen in search of something to watch.

"Hmm, let's watch this one." Mia pointed at the movie with a pink stain on her face.

Raven gave a slight dip of his head in agreement.

He doesn't care what his sister chose, so long as it brings a smile to her face.

Mia picked a romance movie with a lot of twists, turns, and dramatic scenes, the most memorable being the climactic love confession at the end of the movie.

Mia and Raven enjoyed the salty, buttery flavour of the popcorn for two and a half hours as they watched the movie.

They both stepped out of the cinema, the sound of their laughter echoing off the walls.

Mia stopped walking and turned to Raven, the sound of cars driving in the background and a cool breeze brushing past their faces.

Mia's gaze burned into Raven, her eyes a deep, fiery red as she uttered three words.

"Raven, you're adopted."

Raven was struck dumb with amazement. Not because of her confessing that he was adopted, but because she rushed into his arms, sobbing right after.

Raven lips twitched and patted her on the back as she said. "I'm sorry. I should've told you sooner."

Raven continued to massage her back, the pressure of his fingertips easing away her tension.

"Don't worry, I already know this."

Right now, he is trying to figure out what's going on and why he was told so soon into his rebirth.

You know, he had to wait another eight years till they told him this.

"Also, there's another thing." Mia spoke again, her voice hot as she spoke, overlooking the fact that he knew he was adopted.

Raven's brow furrowed as he listened to Mia's words and he struggled to comprehend what she was going to say.

As she sobbed in his arms, he held her close, his arms offering her a gentle embrace of comfort.

He looked at her with worry in his eyes as he urged her to keep going. "What is it, Mia?"

Mia wiped away her tears and looked up at him, her eyes shining with determination.

"Raven, I've loved you for a long time. Not just as a brother, but... more than that."

Raven's eyes widened with shock as he tried to make sense of Mia's words.

His stomach was in knots from the conflicting emotions of surprise, confusion, and a sudden spark of realisation.

When Mia uttered those words, he was taken aback, unable to believe what he had heard.

"Cough. Mia. What did you just say?"

Raven's brain couldn't keep up with the current rhythm.

Mia said nothing more, and wrapped her arms around his neck and closed her eyes.

Raven's eyes widened in surprise as he felt the gentle, feather-like touch on his lips.

Vanessa's words caught him off guard and Mia slowly came back to her senses after kissing him on the lips.

"That… I Didn't mean to." Mia stuttered to speak after realising that she just kissed him.

Raven sighed and his fingers moved through her tangled hair, feeling the soft strands.

"Hey, you know that was my first kiss, right?"

Mia closed her eyes and breathed in the warmth of his embrace before whispering softly.

"It was mine as well."

Mia then stepped out of his embrace and looked into his eyes, her gaze steady.

"So, what's your response?"

Raven glanced at her eyes, which were filled with an impenetrable determination, and knew he had to give his answer right away or he would be slain in the next moment.

He had just opened his mouth to speak when the sound of a car horn blared from the side.

Raven and Mia both looked over.

Mia's voice shook with anger as she glared at the person who had interrupted her confession.

Just as she was about to let loose a string of angry words, she recognised the sound of her mother's honking car horn.

"Mom? How long have you been here?" Mia asked in horror.

Mia's mother gave a sly grin as she sat in the driver's seat of the family car, her hands resting lightly on the steering wheel.

"Long enough to witness the most eventful part of your confession, it seems."

Mia's face flushed with embarrassment, her eyes darting between her mother and Raven. "Mom!"

Her eyes glittered with amusement as she chuckled, and they were filled with the sound of her laughter.

"Oh, don't worry, my dear. It's a beautiful moment, and one that I'm sure you both will cherish. But right now, how about we continue this conversation at home? As it's getting late."

Raven was shocked at the turn of events, but the sound of his own laughter filled the air in response.

He leaned in close to Mia, and his whisper tickled her ear.

"I'll tell you my answer when we get back home."

Raven them hopped into the car straight after speaking.
