Becoming famous overnight

Raven and Mia walked up the driveway, their feet crunching on the gravel as it expanded out into a horseshoe.

The red bricks of the house glowed in the sunlight, contrasting with the blue tinted glass windows.

As Raven walked up to the white birch door, he felt the texture of the wood beneath his fingertips.

With a slight twist of the handle, the door clicked open and Raven peered inside.

"Yo, I'm still alive!" Raven shouted. His voice echoed around the house.

Without a word, Mia stared at Raven, her fingers fumbling as she removed her shoes and placed them on the rack.

Raven's mother appeared in front of them and uttered a sad sigh when she said, "Sad to hear, Raven."

"My heart!" Raven let out a loud cry, pressing his hand firmly against his chest.

Raven had come to terms with the fact that he was adopted, with no lingering feelings of doubt or insecurity.

Although it was an interesting find, they still love him enough to send him off to university in the future, which shows that they still care for him even though he's adopted.

Mia and their mother exchanged a look of exasperation at Raven's awful acting and took their places on the couch, their fingers quickly tapping away at their phones.

Raven ignored the two and climbed the stairs, eager to check his likes and views on YouTube and Twitch.

He opened the door to his room and the wooden door creaked shut.

He sat down at his computer, his fingers typing the keys with a gentle tapping sound, and checked his current numbers.

As Raven navigated through his YouTube and Twitch analytics, a thrill of excitement surged through him.

He had been refining his skills as a streamer and content creator, producing content regularly over the past few weeks.

Unbeknownst to him, his hard work was about to be rewarded beyond his wildest dreams.

He was amazed to see the sudden boost in his subscriber count, and his video views had skyrocketed in a matter of hours.

Fans and supporters flocked to him, expressing their admiration for his unique style and remarkable aim.

Raven was mesmerised by the sight before him. Overnight, it seemed like he had become a celebrity; people were buzzing about him everywhere.

He blurted out a question to Vanessa, asking for a plan to make the most of his newfound popularity.

"Vanessa, what should I do now?"

[You should gather up all your best twitch clips and use your future knowledge in the editing community to get yourself officially out there.]

Raven nodded. He's been editing his videos with a lackadaisical effort, relying on old-fashioned methods that would be considered good in 2017.

"Vanessa, can you take over and make it?"

[Yes I can, Raven.]

He heard the ticking of the clock as 30 minutes sped by and Vanessa finally completed the project.

Raven watches it in awe as the screen flashes by.

Raven couldn't help but admire the video and muttered, "Damn, even I am attracted to this," before posting it to YouTube.

With Vanessa's precise editing and Raven's raw skill, the video quickly picked up traction.

In a matter of hours, the views went through the roof, and the comment section was flooded with admiration and enthusiasm.

Raven's phone was a never-ending cacophony of notifications from social media, as people shared and commented on the video.

Raven reclined in his chair, feeling the warmth of the sun on his skin as he reminisced.

He tried to grow a YouTube channel at the age of 13 before his rebirth.

It just never took off. But now, as he watched his current channel soaring through the sky, a strange emotion stirred in his chest.

"Raven! Dinners ready!"

Raven was brought out of his trance by the sound of a voice, and he descended the stairs with his stomach growling.

A day had gone by since Raven had posted the video online.

The video on YouTube had achieved a dazzling 5 million views and a stunning 100,000 likes, making it an impressive success.

As he walked through the school hallways, he heard one student discussing his videos with enthusiasm.

Raven's ears perked up as he overheard the student discussing his videos.

He couldn't help but eavesdrop, curious to hear their thoughts.

"Did you see that gaming video from the YouTuber Raven? It was insane! His skills are out of this world!" one student exclaimed.

"Yeah, I've been binge-watching his content lately. He's got such a unique style and insane aim. It's no wonder he's blowing up," another student chimed in.

Raven couldn't believe his luck.

His popularity had become so strong that it had reached the hallways of his high school.

Witnessing the impact of his work firsthand was an awe-inspiring and surreal experience.

He was relieved not to have to show his face on camera, or he was sure he wouldn't be allowed to roam the halls of the school again.

After this incident, the second bell in the school tolled, a deep sound that filled the air and signified a one hour and ten-minute break for the students.

Raven met up with his circle of friends in the halls and chatted.

"Yo, have you heard of the YouTuber/Twitch streamer, Raven?" A boy named Jacob asked.

His round figure filled out the bright orange shirt he had chosen, which matched his orange locks.

Whenever someone in the group had a question concerning mathematics or other academic subjects, they all knew to turn to him, the group's resident genius.

"Nope, I don't care," Hunter said. "He's just shit, anyway."

Lucas, standing to the side, nodded in agreement with Hunter.

Raven was filled with a sudden sense of disgust as he remembered why he had disliked these two friends in high school, and by grade 10, he had lost contact with them.

They were your typical kids saying, "Don't care" or "Didn't ask" if they didn't have a proper argument.

It pissed Raven off because they'd use this as mockery as well.

The condescending tone of their voice made him want to shake them sometimes.

Jacob, who had a short fuse, yelled at them in fury. "Do you have anything intelligent to say? Or you going to repeat the same fucking words?"

Hunter and Lucas jeered and taunted louder, while their friends watched, amused by the spectacle.

Raven couldn't stand it anymore.

He and Jacob had known each other since high school and had many conversations over the years, often staying up late talking and laughing.

Raven stepped forward and broke the silence that had descended, his presence cutting through the escalating tension between Jacob and his other two "friends".

He placed a hand on Jacob's shoulder, signalling for him to calm down.

"Look, I know that the two of you like to be your own discord kitties," Raven said, his voice steady but firm. "But do you have to sit on your ass every day and hate on everything?"

When Raven spoke, the room was filled with an eerie silence.

Breaking the silence, Raven called out, "Come on, let's go," and the sound of his footsteps followed as he left the school.

A few seconds later, Raven heard 2 other people following him.

They were Jacob and Evan.

The corners of Raven's mouth turned up in a delighted grin.

These were the only two people he would turn to for conversation and friendship during his university days.

"Thanks Raven, I was about to lose my shit back there." Jacob said, appearing next to him.

"It's fine. I can't stand that group anymore and would break up sooner than later." Raven waved his hand.

"What about you, Evan?" Raven turned to look at Evan.

Evan was always clad in head-to-toe black, his brown hair hanging in front of his face and obscuring his thoughts.

"Just follow you guys. I don't like those hypocrites,"

Raven nodded, and they kept walking, the sound of passing cars buzzing in their ears until they reached the MAX station.

"Hey, isn't that Caleb and his dad?" Jacob gestured towards the centre of the parking lot, illuminated by the flickering streetlights.

Raven and Evan heard Jacob's voice and followed the direction of his outstretched arm. A middle-aged man wielding a metal bat towered above the huddle of high school students.

"So it's this." Raven muttered.

"Huh? What did you say?" Jacob furrowed his brows, perplexed, as he looked at Raven.

"Nothing, don't worry about it," Raven waved his hand. "Let's go in and ignore them."

Evan nodded. "Let's watch it from inside."

Raven glanced at him in disbelief and his head shook, as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Look out!"

Raven froze in his tracks when he heard the voice he knew so well, sounding in his ear.

When he spun around, he heard a loud whirring sound as a silver metal object whizzed towards his face.

He felt his heart stop and time seemed to stand still as his body moved in a blur, dodging the object like an action hero.

Raven's heart raced in his chest, and he felt a cold sweat cover his body as the surroundings returned to normal.

"What the actual fuck was that!" Raven said, laying against the wall with his hands on his chest.

"Vanessa, was that you controlling my body just now?"

[Yes, I detected you were in extreme danger, so I took over till the danger was gone.]

Raven let out a deep breath of relief at hearing this. Without her, he was sure he would be a goner.

"Raven!" He heard the familiar voice ringing in her ears once more.

When Raven turned his head and saw four girls approaching him, the first thing he noticed was his sister's fiery red hair.

"Raven! Are you alright?" Mia's voice cracked as she spoke, a single tear running down her cheek.

"Ha, don't worry. This fucker won't die." Raven said, calming down his mood.

"Raven, who's this?" Jacob surveyed the four girls, his eyes lingering on Nora's face as he asked his question.

"This one is my sister," Raven said, putting his arm around her. "And these are her friends, though I don't know them." He shrugged.

"Hey! You know me." Nora looked at him charmingly.

Raven rolled his eyes and ignored her, and looked towards the mob of students that were still busy jumping a middle-aged man.

"Let's leave this place before anything bad happens again." Raven said to his two friends and started walking back to school.

He spun around, giving his sister one last wave before he left. "Thanks for the heads up, or I might be in the hospital today!"

Mia's face lit up with a smile, and she swished her hand in a wave.

As Raven walked back to school, Jacob's arm was steady and warm on his shoulder. "Do you think you can introduce me to that girl who said she knew you?"

Jacob's face was flushed as his embarrassment grew, and he wished he could find a hole to hide in.

Raven chuckled, seeing his expression. "You mean Nora? Sure. As long as it isn't my sister, I don't care."

Jacob gave a thankful tilt of his head, and the sound of their footsteps echoed through the air as they marched back to school.
