The Library

--AN) A Tad late, but here it is!--

When I stepped into the library, I stopped short when I saw the rows upon rows of two stories high bookshelves. Each shelf was filled to the brim with books as well. "How am I even supposed to find anything in here…."

"Bella over here." Mimi grabbed my hand and pulled me along.

She led me over to an orb that was on top of a pedestal that was twice as tall as me. "Bella, put your hand here." Mimi pointed to a panel on the pedestal. I did as she said, and as I did, the whole panel lit up, and the pedestal itself began to lower until the orb was at my height. "Now, just place your hand on the orb and think of the kind of book you wish to look for."

Doing as I was told, I put my hand on the orb and began thinking about the history of the world. Before I knew what was going on, a book suddenly appeared in front of me. "The History of Falienia…."

I took the book and held it in my hands. It was thick, so thick that if I was a normal five year old, I would never be able to lift it. I looked around and saw a small spot where red cushioned couches and a small table were set up. I walked over there with Mimi in tow, sat down, and placed the book on the table. Only then did I turn to Mimi With a smile and say: "Thank you!"

"I only know how to do all this because Master had told me the day before, so when you wished to enter the library, you could. After all, everything here runs on magic. Speaking of which, I think all the magic tools will now be put back in their rightful place, making things much easier on us servants." Mimi replied with a bit of teasing at the end.

I tapped my chin as if lost in thought as I muttered out loud to myself. "Maybe it is time for a new servant. This one seems broken."

"I am not broken!" Mimi stomped and pouted. I giggled and tugged on her hand. "I was just joking. To have a little sister you like is a blessing."

"You are five years younger than me!? How am I, the little sister!?" Mimi yelled out, causing me to laugh out loud.

"Anyway, I plan to stay here and study until it's time for dinner. If you have things you need to do, you can go ahead and do them. Or if you have no duties, you are free to do as you please." I said with a smile. I did not wish for Mimi to sit around doing nothing while I was studying. It would not be fair to her.

"It's fine. I was given permission to read the books here now. I planned to get something a bit easier to understand. But before that, I will get you some tea and snacks. This way, you will have something to keep your mind going." Mimi replied before running off. I smiled as I watched her retreating back. The girl was always thinking about my well-being, so I do hope she can grow up happy in this house.

I picked up the book and opened it up to see a large map that covered both pages. It was the map of the world itself. "Let's see Nosengade is here…." I found the kingdom I am currently in on the south side of the map, which was on a massive circular continent called Crilam. What was strange was that the middle of the continent was colored black. There were a few other continents as well, but they had no names as far as I could tell. But the middle of the continent I was on was what caught my interest because it said nothing as to what it was. "Is it unexplored?"

I pursed my lips as I looked over the map. Norsengrade was not as big as I thought it was. The elven kingdom to the west, the Kingdom of Tialonni was much bigger. But it seemed to be a huge vast forest. To the east was a huge mountain range that was also a kingdom called Iron Tide, this was a kingdom of dwarfs. I only knew it was a dwarf kingdom due to the map saying so under the name. And to our north was a massive kingdom bigger than the others, which was called the Empire of Dostlakia, a place ruled by orcs.

"I guess there really are many races in this world…. But this kingdom of orcs is right next to the dark area in the middle. Only the ring area around this area is filled with kingdoms of different races. I really wonder what is there." My interest was piqued. I could only hope this book would be able to explain things to me.

I flipped a few pages to the first chapter, which told about the origins of the world. "Let's see…."

'The world of Falienia was created by the Queen of Spirits, Lestaia. She created the water spirits who created the oceans in which the fish swam. She created earth spirits who created the land on which sentient life walked upon. She created the wind to allow for changes in seasons. She created fire to make life easier for those who were to come. She then created light so that the beings who walked the planet could see. And lastly, she created darkness to allow the beings to sleep.

'Once she saw that the world was in a position to thrive on its own, the Queen of Spirits went into slumber. During this time, since the dawn of the creation of the world, new elements were naturally created.'

I scratched my head, not quite understanding the passage here, but from the sounds of it, there is a goddess like figure who created the world. But why did the church not have a statue of this queen of spirits? Or did it, and I just missed it? I guess not everything I have seen so far is the total truth. Then again, this could just be some mumbo jumbo that really has no meaning. But with how there are angels and demons as well as magic of all kinds in this world, I guess it is best to keep an open mind.

I went through the pages one at a time. They talked about ancient wars and about beings so strong that they could destroy whole nations if they so chose to. While this was all interesting, my main concern is the most recent history. But since I was not in too much of a hurry, I still did not skip ahead because there was always a chance that this stuff could be important.

Mimi had come back and served tea. I sipped it as I continued to read all the way up until dinner. After dinner, I studied for a few more hours before going to bed. My days would now consist of training in the mornings and then studying until bedtime. It might seem strange for a child of my age to work so hard, but I really did not know how long I had to stay like this. I did make sure to set aside a few hours to spend time with my family within this new schedule, but I still worried about the future greatly.

Sadly I still had certain events I had to go to. Like right now, Mimi was getting me ready to go to the castle for the celebration party for my and my cousin's awakening. However, I am probably nothing more than an afterthought. After all, while at home I might be called a princess, it was a fact that I was not. So I can only go and try to hide my presence which I am quite good at, as long as no one tries to make me the main attraction of the event.

"Bella, all done," Mimi said as she put the brush down. She did my hair just the way I liked it, straight down to my waist. I actually loved the color of my hair. It reminded me of winter snow. I stood up and looked into the mirror once more before turning to Mimi and hugging her. "Looks great, thank you."

"Bella…." Mimi hugged me back. We were truly like sisters.

"Ready?" My mother's voice came from the door. I turned and nodded my head. "Then let's go. Mimi, make sure you do not leave Bella's side at all. The castle is not a place we can tread lightly."

"I promise even if I have to use my little life, I will protect Bella," Mimi said with a determined expression. But I could feel her body tense up.

"No, Mimi, she means so that you do not get taken," I said with a chuckle causing Mimi to blush. My mother also nodded her head.

"Mm… Bella is right. I said this, so you do not get used for some plot and make Bella worry. She sees you as her sister after all." My mother reached out and patted Mimi's head. "So be careful and don't worry Bella too much, okay?"

"Yes, ma'am…." Bella's blush deepened as she lowered her head.

"Alright, let's go!" My mother took both our hands and pulled us along. I could see that my mother did not see Mimi as just a maid.
