38 Chapter 38: Office Skunks

"EEEEEK"

I don't quite know how long I was asleep for in Colton's office, but I'm pretty sure that damn sex god in the other room should know I like my sleep and don't take kindly to being rudely woken up, which is definitely what I call the ugly screech I just heard.

I rub my eyes gently before sitting up and looking around the room. My eyes stop just outside the door at what I assume is the source of the noise.

A woman who looks a few years older than me is being stopped by one of Colton's goons from entering his office. My eyebrows knit a bit at the realization that those buffoons left me all alone here and now I am going to have deal with whatever tedious drama this lady wants to act out.

I lean back making myself comfortable again, "Did you need help with something?"

The goon looks at me knowingly and apologetically, while the lady looks speechless.

'Was it not her purpose to wake me up?' I think, annoyed and raise my eyebrow at her at in question.

"I don't know how you seduced this man into letting you in here, but Colton is going to ruin you, if he catches you in here. I was trying to save you face by warning you." she says confidently.

At this point, I am really not surprised at how Colton manages to attract all these airheads to him. 'Some of them should really consider getting into screen writing though, I heard recently that hot affairs in romance are selling rather well. Scratch that, maybe I should just do it.' I can't help but think of this instead of responding right away.

The airhead takes my pause and takes advantage the shocked speechless goon at the doorway and walks past him and up to me.

"Did I stutter or do you need my help getting out of here too?" she spits as she reaches for my wrist.

I easily avoid her reach and kick her shin while crossing my legs and simultaneously using a cloth that was set aside on the coffee table to wipe the spit off my face. Every ounce of me is bouncing to get cleanse my face with boiling water and disinfectant.

"Are you unable to speak without spreading your filth? Disgusting, and what is that smell?" I say, pinching the bridge of my nose, ignoring her last few comments and that she is holding her shin in pain, near tears. Dear god, I was so concerned about the spit show, I didn't even notice that smell before I breathed it in.

"What are you talking about you stupid..." She is cut off by me swiftly pushing her aside and walking to the door.

Colton had just arrived and was on his way to his office when he saw his peculiar little goddess rushing at him. He smile subconsciously when her saw her delicate little face all scrunched up and pinching her nose. Her watery eyes looked like she may just cry.

Before he could think a second longer about how cute she looked, she crashed into him and took a deep breathe, "You left and allowed some office skunk to come in, my eyes sting and my ears are ringing." She complained in a soft whisper as if all her energy was used up.

Colton bent over slightly and gathered Serenity into a princess carry, feeling a little too triumphant that she didn't protest. He glared at the guard, "I had Louis stand guard, I only stepped away for a while, but next time I will have two." He paused and glanced at the woman in question, "Who are you?"

"Your secretary sir, I have been here for three months now..." She stammered out, suddenly very unsure of the situation she had thought she knew very well moments ago.

"Well looks like it's time again for a new secretary who can decipher right from wrong. Louis make it happen." He ordered, and within a few seconds, Louis had escorted the offending woman out of the premises and left the couple too themselves.

Colton sat down in his sleek office chair, and pinched Serenity's tender little cheek, "All better now?" he asked her with warm eyes.

She smacked his hand away and pouted her bottom lip, "I'm not a child, and stop looking at me like that, obviously you hadn't got a whiff of whatever abomination perfume she was wearing."

He laughed, "Yes, yes, it is my fault, how am I looking at you?" He asked curiously and swore he heard her mutter something under her breath.

"As long as you know." Serenity said matter of factly as she sat upright on his lap and ended up face to face with Colton and couldn't help but be drawn to look at his lips as she recalled that day in the hotel room and how his lips felt pressed against hers. Her face felt very hot all of a sudden and she pulled her attention to his eyes only to be met with a knowing look. 'Damn this man. Always messing with my thoughts.' She cursed in her head.

"Is there something on my face baby girl?" He said with his voice dropping a few tones.

She fought the urge to smack him. He clearly lowered his voice on purpose, and she couldn't fight the lust that threatened her as she wiggled on his lap for a moment only to have his hands stabilize her waist. "Don't move." He ordered, make her glance at him and laugh.

"Keep laughing princess, and you're messing with fire." He warned.

She leaned toward his ear, "Maybe I want to get burned."

Before he could respond, she was off his lap and out the door, happy he couldn't see how red her face was. At this rate, she wasn't sure she could fight these feelings, or that she wanted to.
