Chapter 1: The end of her last life

It was a dark and stormy night.

As the rain pounded the roof top of the mansion that once felt like her safe haven, you could barely make out the heart wrenching screams over the loud gun shot that still seems to ring through the night.

Holding onto the gaping, bloody wound in her side, she refused to give up and let this horrid couple feel the satisfaction of seeing her weakened, "Why, why me?" she asks.

Upon hearing her words, a hysterical like laughter breaks the silence as a young women, similar in age to the beauty who is struggling to stay standing, repeats, "Why you? You had everything, whether it was money, family, or those alluring looks that seems to draw any man to you. I had nothing and you were always just happy as if rubbing it in my face while pretending to be little miss innocent as you gave me whatever I asked without a second thought. Then to top it off the man that I had always loved, that I saw first, you fell in love with him at first sight."

Fighting the urge to vomit upon hearing the jealousy of who she thought was her friend, she says, "Arabella, I never knew.." She starts to explain, but is cut off.

"LIAR. How could you not know, you were always trying to act all loving with him around me. Well you were always an idiot Serenity, because Alex was always mine. He was only with you for your inheritance but you foolishly gave it to him without batting an eye because you trusted him. Everything that was yours, is now mine. I just had to get rid of that grandfather and brother who were like annoying flies trying to stand in my way." Arabella exclaims humorously as if she just told the best joke.

Hearing the last sentence, Serenity finally finally feels the last string start to break as she shouts, "WHY, you didn't have to hurt them, your problem is with me, they were innocent in this. I gave you everything you asked for?"

With her emotions rising, she only felt numb to the pain from the wound on her side that was oozing blood. She should have passed out by now, but the pain of betrayal was worse than any other pain she had experienced.

This time the man who has been silently watching with an emotionless face and holding onto Arabella, looked at Serenity as if he was looking at gum under his shoe and spoke, "Your stupidity got your grandfather killed by me and your brother put in prison for it, you can only blame yourself for being so naive, who would love a whore like you. Ari already told me about all of your grand "sleepovers" with other men. To think I thought you wouldn't let me touch you because you were so innocent when you were just dirty and didn't want me to find out."

Not being able to listen to anymore of this nightmare, she ran with all the strength she could muster up, she ran down the stairs that seemed endless as her face went horrifyingly pale from the blood loss caused by the bullet wound in her side, but the adrenaline was stronger than the pain which kept her going.

She escaped out the back door of her childhood home and ran toward the forest that occupied her backyard. This forest always felt so haunting to her with the dark aura it leaked out and growls you could hear from animals that lurked inside if you got close enough.

She just bit her lip, as she no longer had a choice, there was no way she could escape, it was better to die in the forest than by their hands.

Without sparing another thought, she continued to run into the forest and refused to look back even as she could hear the sound of those people coming after her.

After running for what seemed like miles, she was out of breath and unfortunately, she was out of a pathway to run on as she stumbled onto a cliff overlooking a vast ocean.

'Is this really how it ends?' She thinks to herself as she looks at the ocean that seems to call her name, enticing her to jump.

From behind, she hears the laughing of the person she thought was her best friend and her fiance as they approached closer to her.

"Did you really think we would let you escape so that you could speak of this, well not that it would do you any good since no one would believe you after everything I had told them about your arrogance and willingness to jump into any mans bed to land a business deal while having a loving fiance waiting for you. Nobody will be surprised about your ending or care for that matter, with your grandfather dead and brother rotting in jail. You might as well just give up and die by my hand." Arabella says as she grabs the gun from Alex and aims at the women's head who was always so much better than her at everything.

Serenity was the stupidest genius there was, if you could even call her that after tonight.

'Such a pity, but she can't be allowed to live any longer.' Arabella thought to herself as she raised the gun with an evil grin.

Seeing the gun aimed at her, Serenity no longer has to weigh her options as she gives into the oceans temptation, closes her eyes and allows her body to relax as she opens her arms falling backwards off the cliff into the vast ocean just as the gun fires and narrowly missing the fatal blow.

Falling into the ocean, she felt like her bones had been shatter by millions of ice cold needles on impact as the water wrapped around her as if it were pulling her into it's embrace.

The pain gradually lessened as she allowed the water to comfort her in her final moments and just let go of everything she was feeling, the loss, the hurt, the anger, and the betrayal. She just felt nothing but emptiness.

Almost like a prayer, she thinks, 'If I could redo it all, I wouldn't be so naive to love and friendship. I'll protect what is mine diligently, I won't throw my families happiness away again.'

With millions of thoughts and prayers in her head, her mind finally shuts down as she takes her last breathe laying on the ocean floor and closes her eyes for the last time...

Or so she thought..
