15 {Woolly Protector}

-{4 years and 5 months ago}-

A few feet away from the rocky coast a large platform of ice floated on the water. On said platform, a 15ft white dragon crouched as it looked into the ocean water.

After a few minutes of waiting he pounced trying to catch a fish that he had seen. Sadly as he pounced the platform moved violently scaring the fish away. He jumped out of the water and into the ice again.

He revealed an annoyed expression and sighed causing his nostrils to expand. He then flew up and shot out a small ball of blue mist. The moment that it made an impact with the ocean water a small misshapen ball of ice was instantly formed.

The woolly dragon then quickly dove into the water and retrieved it revealing a medium-sized fish that was frozen inside.

After flying back to land he closed his mouth completely crushing the ice and it began eating his trapped prey.

He then began making his way back to the forest but suddenly stopped in his tracks when he smelled something. What he smelled was the scent of blood along with the creature that he had seen around many times near there.

It was the red creature who he had tried imitating a little bit ago.

Out of curiosity, he began to follow the scent until it led him to the rocky area in the forest. There in between two rocks, he could hear the sharp cries of several creatures. When he took a peek inside he found the bloody creature lying still as four smaller versions of it cuddled around it.

After seeing that it showed no signs of life the dragon sighed and began retreating before it heard a small snarl. When he looked back he found a small fox putting itself in the entrance as it bared its small teeth.

He ignored it and flew away.

The next morning as he went to his usual hunting spot he spotted 4 small red spots looking around the clearing forest.

When he was done fishing the woolly dragon began flying back towards the mountain top which he called home. This time however he was carrying a mass of ice with a fish inside of it. When he went back to the place where he had seen the creatures they were no longer there. After some more searching he finally found them again.

He dove down and landed on a nearby clearing and began making his way toward them. When he found them the four creatures had hidden themselves.

Not caring that they were scared of him he shattered the ice with his powerful jaws and left it on the ground.

After waiting a good bit the creatures slowly began making their way to the fish until they had surrounded it and tried to bite into it. The frozen fish however proved to be too much for them which the dragon took note of before it flew away.

The next day he tried to hunt fish as he had seen the creature's mother do so many times before.

After many many tries he lowered his head in defeat and shot a blue mist ball at a nearby fish. As he was about to collect it a small dragon tried to grab it and fly away but it was too heavy for it.

Annoyed by the tiny thief he flicked his tail and sent it flying into the water. At that moment his expression changed as if he had gotten an idea. He quickly shot the water near the dragon who was struggling to keep its head above water.

Almost immediately from the neck down the little dragon was encased in a chunk of ice. It tried to breathe fire and free itself but a growl from the woolly dragon made it swallow its built-up attack.

With a piece of ice in his mouth and another in his front legs, the large dragon flew up. When it landed near, the four creatures ran towards him as if forgetting how frightened they had been at first.

He broke the ice where the fish was and laid it down. The creatures licked their snouts and began running to the fish but he stopped them by creating a wall with his tail. He then placed the mini dragon in front of it and used his head to point at the fish.

The small dragon was confused but it did as it was told and torched the frozen fish. The four creatures now had an easier time eating and devoured the fish entirely.

As he looked at them eating the small dragon tried to slip away using its unfrozen neck and head but the Wolly dragon dragged it back with his tail. He then lay on the ground with one leg on top of the ice.

Over some time the same process continued until the small creatures had become fully grown. They each went their separate way in search of mates and every now and then he would look at their families from far away.

Sadly there were also times when he came upon corpses of them or their litters. He couldn't do much since their mates and hatchings were afraid of him. The best he could do was scare away the nearby predators that attacked in packs.

-{Present}-

After having survived a deadly attack from a strong dragon he had decided to rest and refill his water storages as well as get something to eat. As he was crouching ready to pounce he heard steps.

The steps belonged to something big and it carried the scent of blood…no that wasn't all. It had the scent of someone familiar, one that he had etched into his memory.

The unmistakable scent of one of the hatchlings of one of the four he had protected.

He was quickly fueled with rage as he dove into the water and made his way to the unknown creature. When he jumped up he found a two-legged creature, one of those who had tried to hunt him many times before.

As he prepared to kill said creature, from behind him a red furball came running and snarling at him.

At that moment he was brought back to the day when a scared little creature tried to protect its own mother from danger. Something he had been unable to find the courage to do when he himself was a hatchling.

Though confused as to why one of the hatchlings was behaving in such a way he stopped his attack. The two-legged creature slowly backed away and called out to the hatchling to follow.

He slowly followed them until they reached land and once there the two-legged creature dumped rabbits from his bag. He threw one to him but he moved it aside with his tail. There was no way he was going to trust this creature.
