Chapter 86: The Challenge

Cao Guang was a bit disoriented when he realised he would need to find resources to evolve his wolf soon. He calmed down when he realised that Fenrir would fail with his current cultivation, he would need atleast his Summoning element to be at the Advanced level.

But he soon panicked again thinking about his talent. Damn excellent talents had their drawbacks too!

---

Cao Guang went to the Lightning institute's arena on time for the challenge. In total there were fifty challenges to be held today.

With Gu Yan vs Nanrong Xu supposed to be the one anticipated by all students and not just the lightning institute. However, fate had willed for another battle to be on the minds of every student of the lightning institute. It was Luo Meirong vs Cao Guang.

Lin Mu practically catered to their wishes when he put that one as the fight battle for the day. The arena was barely filled as students of other institutes would only show up for the battle for rank one. However, it did have an extra audience other than the Lightning institute and the healing mage.

A certain fan of Cao Guang had made his way from Chaos institute with an embarassing banner that said 'Go Cao Guang, Beat them all up'.

The students of Lightning institute practically mutinied when they saw the banner and had to be sent back to the stands by an exploding Lin Mu.

Cao Guang took his position on the battle arena opposite Luo Meirong with a sigh and a changed perspective.

It wouldn't make a difference, what I say or do now would it? I shouldn't have sponsored that kid. That's thirty million I am not gonna see again.

Lin Mu stepped off the arena and announced the beginning of the battle.

Cao Guang didn't waste any time and casted a Lightning spell of the bat. He was able to complete the spell before Luo Meirong due to his cultivation forcing her to activate her equipment.

Lightning Strike Electric Field.

A Bolt of lightning seperated from his hands and spread around Luo Meirong like a tightening coil while applying shocks to her. The fourth tier Basic spell with a 3 x multiplier overwhelmed the defences she prepared and broke through inflicting some damage on her.

But with her tier two cultivation of the Lightning Nebula she had significant resistance to overcome that sort of lightning. A level lower and she would have lost just like that.

Cao Guang didn't gave her any time to breath as he connected a Star Pattern again and he flinged it at her with his arms.

Thunderbolt Yaksha.

A Bolt lightning fell from the dark clouds and split into five as it drowned her while she was still paralysed from the Lightning Strike. She had connected a Star Pattern and cast a Water Shield on top of her other equipment.

It made little difference as the Lightning still injured her penetrating through her defences. Cao Guang had prepared a strike with Telekinesis in case she didn't admit defeat, but Lin Mu ended the battle and declared Cao Guang the winner.

The arena went silent as the battle ended in just a minute after it started and Luo Meirong lost rather badly to Cao Guang indicating that he was probably stronger than just rank twenty. Even Gu Yan and Nanrong Xu had their eyebrows raised as they couldn't see his bottom line.

Cao Guang looked at the audience after taking a breath and decided to fulfill his role.

" I am sure that you think I won due to luck, I will welcome any and all challenges in two weeks time. I will also challenge the number one rank then as well. Prove to me that the Lightning institute is as strong as you guys think"

Cao Guang lept off the arena leaving a stunned and angry audience and a suprised teacher Lin who realised the kid had the strength he bragged that he had.

Like all great teachers he realised that this could be a teaching moment for his students as looked on to the crowd who were cursing at Cao Guang at the top of their lungs.

Cao Guang went up to Liu Mingrui to talk about the immense 'help' he had provided him with. The kid had ruined all chances of reconciliation with a single banner. It seems the kid was too free after joining the Pearl Institute.

He would need to supervise his cultivation for a while and don't look at him like that, the kid probably needed it
