28 Chapter 28 : One Week

One week passed in the blink of an eye. Cao Guang fell into a lull with the patrol missions, smithing with Max and searching for better milk powder for his daughter.

Little Flame Belle was growing up and lost control over her Calamity Fire occasionally, she was going from Infancy to Youth Phase. She needed some Soul grade seed fragments that he could barely afford.

However the Incendiary Fire project had come to an end in terms of development. As long as he could demonstrate it tommorow to his combat instructor successfully, he could sell it and his ideas for streamlining, safe and execution.

Tonight he had reached the Wall taken his position as Squad 17 captain.

" Squad 17 assist Squad 5 to eliminate the Warriors".

The Heavenly Eagle scouts had detected two Fierce Bone Generals approaching the Wall that needed taking immediately. The Outer Wall was still half finished and needed to be protected every second of the night.

Squad 5 had undergone massive upgrade in terms of responsibility after Fenrir's evolution. Since they could handle a Warrior with it's help, the Lieutenant did not mind training these guys.

As for Squad 17, they had already built rapport with them, but their leader has changed as he succeeded in breaking through to Advanced level. 

Fenrir greeted the Fierce Bone General with a Lightning with Luo Heng as the team got into position. 

Gao Xuan cast a Brilliant Light near the undead blinding it. Their Lightning had paralused the creature from moving from its radius for a second as it's body was scorched and undone for a brief window.

Fiery Fists of Explosion 

Luo Heng and Cao Guang hit the Bone General with their signature combo, it gave Fenrir the time to crush it's right legs. Song Xia casted a Death Song Bow directly through the gap left by Fenrir's attack.

Although Cao Guangn and Luo Heng released spells together they did less damage to a Warrior than Fenrir or Song Xia. Song Xia's spell made the Bone General's right hand turn to powder.

The Skeleton looked weird as it attempted to stand straight after loosing an arm and leg in quick succession. 

Telekinesis Illusory Claw

Cao Guang had finally mastered his third basic spell as he swiped at the General making it tumble to the ground as Fenrir landed a Thunder Bolt on it.

"Let's finish this up" 

Cao Guang, Luo Heng and Song Xia prepared their attack as Gao Xuan weakened it's defences further.

As the creature died, and azure glow came out of its body.

It had dropped a Soul Essence.

Cao Guang had gained one soul essence the whole week after Little Tora pendant condensed one from the Soul Remnants it collected. He used it to improve a star of the Summoning element. 

He did it just to see if it would work and it did. Strengthening the stars of Summoning element would not increase its power. It would reduce consumption and allow the Summoned beast to stay in real world longer.

Decomposing this warrior level Soul Essence would leave him with enough to bring his Basic Summon spell to the fourth tier.

How nutty was that. Right now Fenrir was his strongest card. He couldn't fight the wolf easily either. This had boosted the Fenrir's arrogance quite a bit, up to the point Cao Guang decided to unleash his Daughter and used his new elements as well.

Cao Guang made his way to meet his combat instructor Fei Jiao. He had made an appointment in the name of cultivation. No one would believe he had made an amazing invention of the bat. Besides he didn't need the combat instructor's secretary blabbing.

"Come in" 

Fei Jiao was sitting on a dark green couch reading a disheveled book. He seemed to enjoy the book. Cao Guang glanced at the cover. It read 'Ancient Magic Formations'. The author's name or symbol was illegible.

" Do you have any interest in ancient magic, Cao Guang?"

"Some, but I am only a beginner in formations."

"It is good to read, if you are interested you should start with ancient languages. The ancient civilizations have much to offer. This book was found only last week. It dates back to Qin Emperor's time. It even helped me loosen my bottleneck. I'll be taking time off soon to attempt a break through."

Cao Guang was curious of the book's origin when he heard the combat instructor mention Qin Emperor. The Qin Emperor and Ancient Capital went way back. Cao Guang was not as gutsy as Fei Jiao. Maybe it was because he knew the nature and origins of the Dark Abyss. He wouldn't mention the guy's name if he had a choice.

This was a land were power of Curse held great power. Cao Guang regained his thoughts and spoke to the combat instructor.

"Combat instructor, do you know about petroleum?"

"Petroleum, you mean the substance that is found deep in the ground in certain regions. Yes I know of it".

" I may have found a use for it that the military would be interested in acquiring".
