Chapter 172: Sumer

Sumer, the cradle of civilization.

The first civilization, the first empire there had been many disputed and supported adjectives for Sumer.

It was a desert city enclosed within the Tigris Euphrates river system, the construction here was reminiscent of ancient society.

Cao Guang had heard of many legends about the Hammurabic code, according to the legend during the days of King Hammurabi there existed another dimensional element called Order.

He had discovered a stable method to awaken the element and introduced the affinity to the elements in humans, however as the civilization fell, the affinity for the element and the original method of awakening had faded from limelight into the shadows of history.

Cao Guang had recently learned how new elements could be awakened by humans, most of the original methods used by people like Hammurabi and Qin Shi Huang was either esoteric or expensive and therefore unattainable for most of the public.

Therefore the other method to Awakening them was introducing an affinity for the element in society through descendants, afterall there existed awakening stones only for the seven Classical elements, there were no awakening stones for Any other elements, simply Classical elements that has been affected by release of Forbidden Curses of other elements, they could be used as awakening stones for all Dimensional, Black and White magic, but their price was far above what even most Super level mages could afford.

He had also theorised that the Hammurabic stele that displayed the laws of king's land was a ritual to break through to the Forbidden level, he had read about such rituals in a book in Ancient Capital.

It was also widely spread that the King Hammurabi made an eternal Mausoleum in his quest for Order and that stele was originally in that mausoleum, however , no such construction had been found yet and therefore that too remained a myth.

Cao Guang and the team had made great progress over the past months traveling through one demon infested place to another.

However, right now they were stuck in Sumer as the magic association had locked the city down in lieu of an ancient ruin activating, there were plenty of rumours going on about the city how a weapon of mass destruction had been activated after four millennia.

" We can't remain here forever guys, if we miss the third resource point other national teams are bound to overtake us, I say we should look for gaps in their safety barricade and escape the city" said Guan Chen

" So the association can take us into custody and accuse us of stealing from the ruin?" Song Xia retorted.

" It's easier for you guys, you already have more than one element in the Advanced level, we were planning on taking battlefield missions once we got to Egypt to try for a breakthrough" Guan Chen spoke up again.

Song Xia remained silent as anything she said risked a fracture in the team.

" We'll wait for a few more days, if it doesn't clear up then we'll split into a few teams and escape into the desert" Cao Guang answered.

If there was an option he didn't want to take this one as he would feel obliged to bring Lu Zhangtian with him to deal with whatever shit he was being.

He was sure that Lu Zhangtian would not give upon revenge just because the situation had changed for people like it was more important than even the World College tournament.

Cao Guang meditated with his Fire element for the next three days to prepare for whatever trouble he was going to have.

" How are we going to split into?" Mu Yinfeng asked.

" Decide for yourselves, I am taking Lu Zhangtian with me and no that wasn't a question" Cao Guang interjected.

Lu Zhangtian had an apprehensive look when it seemed like Cao Guang had read his mind and come up with a counter.

The national team split into various teams and dispersed themselves into the deserts of Sumer in hopes of getting to Egypt faster.

After they had passed a few kilometres from the city Cao Guang finally spoke again as he asked.

" Where are they?"

" How did you know?"

" You alone won't be enough so there had to someone helping, what I don't understand is how you were able to spend so much money to hire Assassins"

" You don't need to know" Lu Zhangtian spoke up as two figures emerged from the ground using Earth magic.
