Chapter 103: Sidetracked

Cao Guang stood on the walls of Northguard Fortress looking over the plains. The area was arid and dusty with barely any trees, it also held large amounts of Earth element resources in it's crevices and canyons.

He had bought the information he needed to set out to hunt some Beijiang Desolate Beasts. The information vendors didn't have accurate knowledge as to where the Commanders or Rulers where, Cao Guang and other Hunters assumed the army were keeping an eye on them.

He had decided to go solo this time and monopolise any resource he found. The Beijiang Desolate Beasts used Earth elements primarily. It was said that the Desolate Beast Emperor and Qin Emperor once compared their mastery over the Earth element.

Their 'friendly spar' had left a wasteland in the middle of a desert like area. The place was the centre of Desolate Matriarch's rule.

The people had once occupied that area as well and lost out as an outbreak of Ice from Siberia had forced them back.

The Desolate Beasts had won the subsequent war for the 'Hole'. Like it's name it was a gigantic crevice on the surface of Earth. One as large as the magic City. It was crawling with the Desolate Matriarch's kin as she spent more time underground searching for more resources.

The army and extremely strong Hunting groups took trips to the hole to find resources or subvert the Desolate Beasts. Cao Guang didn't intend to go within fifty miles of that place.

There were on the Matriarch's kin living in the Hole. The other Rules lived with their kin in the plains, migrating from one part to the other based on the availability of resources. He was going into the area of the current weakest of three Rulers beneath the Matriach, East Desolate Monarch.

Magic Associations usually used location, elements or directions to name various Demon beasts. This was a tradition dating back from the Totemic days of the association.

Cao Guang set out after he bought a Camel Beast temporarily. These beasts were great for traveling desert regions. They could hold large amounts of water in their bodies and survive for days in the drought laden areas.

They had little to no meat or element energy on their body and were found repulsive by almost all Demon beasts. They were actively avoided by demon beasts because of their uselessness. A fact any mage or merchant would be happy to make use of.

They were one of the universally loved demon beasts. Cao spent his days travelling his days travelling and the cold and unbearable nights cultivating the Fire element. The Desolate plains were filled with poisonous creatures like scorpion type tribes and snake species.

They were also a type of food for Beijiang Desolate Beasts. Cao Guang had to avoid those beasts as much as possible. Because of their disadvantage they travelled in groups led by a Commander, which was something he couldn't face up to right now.

Because of this he spent his nights with Little Flame Belle keeping watch for him. He needed to be on alert to evacuate and onle Little Flame Belle could stay for long periods of time.

He was progressing at a speed of ten stars a day right now in cultivation, that along with his two weeks of retreat allowed him to control one hundred and forty stars of Fire Galaxy.

The next morning he went out of his tent on the Camel Beast only to meet the Desolate Beasts for the first time. He spotted two Warriors before they could find him, they were both in a state of coitus when he happened to find them, giving him a chance to attack before they could respond or call for help.

He directly accessed his flame wizard form as the Calamity Fire and Prairie Flames surrounded him in an instant. The Star Pattern connected far quicker than before, as an Advanced mage he had better control over the stars as well as he had truly reached the peak of third level in Mental Strength instead of relying on his equipment that wasn't a hundred percent efficient.

Meteorite Fist Nine Dragons

The nine dragons eviscerated the beasts that made him look bad for being a single dog and exited the state quickly to save energy. The Little Flame Belle appeared infront of him in her form as a porcelain doll barely the size of his fist.

But this time she was burning up, she was near her evolutionary limit and was slowly loosing control over her flames.
