24 Genin Team Assignment

It had been a week since Team Kakashi disbanded and Satoru was still recovering from the injury he sustained during their last mission. His left hand was now covered in bandages, making it difficult for him to perform the missions. The doctor at Konoha Hospital advised him to take 3 weeks of rest.

Satoru sat on the roof of his house, his gaze fixed on the clouds that lazily drifted across the sky. He had managed to escape from his usual duties as a ninja of the Hidden Leaf Village.

"Man, this is so troublesome," Satoru muttered to himself. "Why do we have to go through all these missions and battles anyway? It's such a drag."

He stared up at the clouds, watching them drift by lazily. The shapes and patterns they formed seemed to mimic his thoughts, constantly changing and shifting. He found some solace in the calming effect of the clouds, which helped him clear his mind.

Just as he was lost in his musings, his friend Bob appeared out of nowhere, startling him. "Hey, Satoru!" Bob exclaimed with urgency as he bounded onto the roof.

Satoru jumped in surprise, nearly toppling off the roof in the process. He managed to steady himself at the last moment, but not without cursing Bob.

"Bob, you scared the life out of me!" Satoru exclaimed, his heart racing. "What's with the serious face?"

Bob's expression turned serious, and he looked like he had something important to share. "Satoru, I've got news," Bob said in a hushed tone, leaning in closer.

Satoru raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Bob's sudden change in demeanor. "What is it?" he asked, forgetting his boredom for a moment.

"We have finally been assigned a genin team," said Bob with a wide grin.

"What?" Satoru replied, his eyes lighting up with excitement. He had been eagerly waiting for this moment. With a decent team leader, his strength could grow by leaps and bounds. He might even have a chance to learn a powerful B-rank or higher wind ninjutsu.

But Satoru couldn't shake off a nagging thought in his mind. "Why didn't anyone inform me of the news?"

Bob quickly answered Satoru's doubts, "An hour ago, a shinobi came to my house and told me to report to the administration block of the academy. He said I've been assigned to a genin team and asked if I knew you. When I said yes, he told me to pass on the message to you too. Looks like we might be on the same team."

Satoru let out a sigh and thought, "What a lazy messenger." However, he was relieved to be on the same team as Bob. The only thing that worried him was, "Who could be our team leader, and who is the third member?"

He recalled that it had only been a year since they graduated from the academy, and the usual course duration was 3-4 years. It was uncommon to graduate in the second year, so whoever this third member was, they must have also applied for advanced graduation.

Satoru couldn't contain his curiosity as he eagerly anticipated meeting his team.

As Satoru and Bob made their way through the empty hallways of the academy, they suddenly came across a small figure with wild, unruly hair. As they approached closer, they could see that it was a young girl, around 7 years old, with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Her appearance was quite distinctive. She had tanned skin, a lean frame, and an energetic posture. Her hair was a wild mess of dark brown locks that seemed to have a mind of their own, sticking out in various directions. She wore a simple black outfit, consisting of a sleeveless top and shorts, adorned with several belts and straps that gave her a slightly rebellious look like a delinquent.

Satoru immediately recognized her as Anko Mitarashi.

As Satoru glanced at Anko, he couldn't help but reminisce about their time together in the academy. He remembered how Anko had always stood out as a genius among their peers, even from their first year.

Back then, Anko had been one of the top students in their class, second only to Kakashi, who was already famous for his prodigious skills. Anko's talent had been undeniable, and she had quickly earned a reputation as a young kunoichi with immense potential.

Satoru recalled how Anko had excelled in all aspects of ninja training. She had been exceptionally skilled in both ninjutsu and taijutsu, with a keen intellect and a natural aptitude for strategy.

Satoru himself was one of the top-rank students in the academy in the first year. He was ranked fourth in the first year of the academy, closely following Asuma who had secured the third position by just two points. Satoru didn't consider his fourth rank in the first year of the academy as a major setback, as he had chosen advanced graduation. He had to focus on studying upcoming topics in addition to regular coursework. On the other hand, Bob had ranked fifth in the first year of the academy. He had also been a talented student but had faced tough competition from Satoru, Asuma, and others.

Anko looks in the direction of Satoru and Bob asks, "Why are you guys so late?"

Satoru looks behind him confused as to look who is she talking to. He sees nobody. He didn't immediately realize that she was addressing him and Bob.

Satoru points to himself and says "Who, me?"

Anko replies "Yeah, you! Were you taking a nap or something? Our jonin sensei have been waiting for so long because of you guys."

Satoru scratched his head, trying to come up with a witty response, but his mind was racing. He couldn't believe that Anko was actually the third member of their team. And if she was on their team, then Satoru had a pretty good idea who their sensei might be.

The thought of 'him' being his sensei, sent shivers down his spine.

Anko looked at the dazed expression on Satoru's face and added with a teasing tone, "Have you started daydreaming now? Let's go to class 1-B, Sensei is waiting there." Satoru snapped out of his thoughts and nodded, following Anko along with Bob.

Bob, being his usual self, couldn't resist asking Satoru a question as they walked to the classroom. "Hey, Satoru, isn't Anko cute?" Bob couldn't help but blush as he looked at Anko walking ahead, who had a mischievous tomboyish aura about her. "Apparently, Bob is into tomboyish delinquent girls," Satoru thought with a grin. Satoru, still lost in his thoughts about their sensei, gave a distracted nod. But Bob was not satisfied with just a nod. He leaned in and whispered, "No, I mean, like really cute."

Satoru couldn't help but chuckle at Bob's obvious crush on Anko. "Well, she does have a certain charm," Satoru replied with a smirk, knowing Bob's tendency to be infatuated with anyone attractive. Bob nodded eagerly, a dreamy look in his eyes, as they continued towards the classroom where their sensei awaited them.

Satoru couldn't help but be amused by Bob's crush on Anko, but his mind was still preoccupied with the mystery of who their sensei might be, especially with Anko's connection to 'him'.

Finally, they reached the classroom. As Anko pushed open the classroom door, Satoru's eyes fell upon a dark silhouette standing inside. As the figure turned towards them, Satoru's breath caught in his throat.

It was Orochimaru.......... unmistakable with his long, sleek hair, pale skin, and piercing yellow eyes. Orochimaru's presence exuded an eerie aura.

Satoru's heart skipped a beat as he laid eyes on the person standing in the classroom. Orochimaru, the infamous villain from the first half of the Naruto series, dressed in Konoha's Jonin outfit. Satoru felt a weird mix of familiarity and unease as he entered the classroom along with Anko and Bob. Orochimaru seemed calm on the outside, but there was a palpable and almost scary aura that surrounded him. His demeanor was in stark contrast to his unsettling presence, and it gave Satoru a sense of unease as he stood in his presence.

"Hello, I am Orochimaru, and I will be leading this team...Hehehe " he said calmly, but with a slight, eerie laugh at the end.

"Where Orochimaru goes, trouble surely follows." thought Satoru. Anyone associated with this guy can't live a simple life.
