50 Sports pledge.

"Are you feeling fine? No stomach aches? Nosebleeds?" My mother asked as we waited by the ticket booth.

"For the third time, momma, yes, I'm fine. Don't worry!" I said.

"Take an aspirin anyway. Just to be safe." She said.

"Ao-chan, that's enough. Let Haru take care of it himself. He'll tell us if he feels like it, right Haru?" My father said.

I nodded.

"See. Now go. They'll be roll calling you soon, won't they? We'll be in there," he said, " recording everything in HD. So do your best!"

"I will, Papa. Bye." I said, running to the waiting room.

As I entered the waiting room, Todoroki stormed out.

He stopped, turned to look at me, and declared.

"I'll defeat you too!"

"What was that about?" I asked.

"Something about being better than everyone else or something. He jad a spat with Deku over it." Kirishima said.

Oh! Right. Right. There was that thing in the anime about All Might and Endeavor and the future top hero or something.

Well, it wouldn't matter anyway. He was going to make it to first place in any event either way.

Can't win if you can't move after all.

An alert blared in the room, informing us that it was time to go out onto the field.

"Hey! Pay attention audience! Swarm, mass media!" Present Mic's voice echoed through the hallways.

"This year's rodeo of adolescence that you all love, the UA sports festival is about to begin. Everybody are you ready?"

"It's time for the students to enter the first year stage. Anyways, these are the guys, right? The miraculous new stars who overcame enemy attacks with their hearts of steel! Hero course, class 1A, right?"

Marching music began to play, confetti popped into the air, as we walked out onto the field to mass cheering.

Woooh! This feels awesome! More so than I expected.

In the distance, I could hear my mother cheer.

"Go! HARU!"

Hehehehe. Yup. This feels great.

"There are so many people!" Deku said, surprised at witnessing the grandeur first hand.

"Will we be able to give our best performance being watched by so many people? Is this also part of the training required to be a hero?" Iida wondered.

"Man! He's going overboard with that praise. I'm getting nervous." Kirishima said.

"They haven't been able to get much airtime but this class is also chock full of talent! Class 1B!" Mic continued.

"Next up, general studies classes C, D and E!"

"Support course classes F, G and H are here too!"

"And business course classes I, J and K!"

"All of UA's first years are here now!"

As the classes settled onto the field in clean lines, Midnight walked onto the podium, wearing a paper thin, skintight bodysuit, lined in bondage fashion.

"It's time for the player pledge!" She said.

"What is miss Midnight wearing?" Kirishima asked blushing.

"That's an R-rated hero for you!" Kaminari gulped.

"Is it okay fornher to be at a high school despite being R-rated?" Tokoyami asked.

"Quiet everyone! Representing the students is Shikimori Haru from class 1A." She announced.

"Why is it Haru-chan?" Deku asked.

"He did place first in the exam." Momo said.

"First in the hero course that is, tch!" A brown haired girl from the general studies course snarked.

Ignoring them I walked ontot he podium.

"What do I have to say?" I asked.

"Anything, really. It's up to you." She said.

"Anything?" I asked.

"To my knowledge, yes."

I smiled in a most sinister fashion.

"Alright then."

I took hold of the mic.

Time to walk the tightrope. I have to get my point across, make an impression and get at least a couple of pro heroes to agree to let me intern at their place. Not mention get media attention. So something bombastic. Something sensational. Something...me.

I got it. I activated Laplace Junior, as my eyes turned black, formulating the right speech for the job.

"When I was 5 years old, I wanted to be a forest ranger. I had always liked animals and plants. And my quirk was perfect for catching poachers.

But as I grew up, I came to realize that there were more important problems in society than poaching. And I mean of course there are. But for a 5 years old boy, all that exists are his friends, his family and one or two of his interests. In my case that was plants and animals." I said, waving my arm in a matter of fact manner.

"So when I was 13, I saw this post in a forum online from quirkless boy, who was getting bullied. The details he gave, how the system had failed him. That moved me. So I began to look into it. And what I found was more than just a record of bullying. It was the corruption of government officials, the cascading chains of negligence and failure from the education system, the apathy of the average person to such issues. And that just...shattered my world view. I used to think that the world was just this nice canvas of black and white.

Heroes were good just because, villains were bad because they were ugly and grumpy."

I gave an awkward laugh, before continuing.

"But with what I found, I began to hate hero society. And the more I hated it, the more flaws I saw in the system.

And I realized that there was need for a change. But of course, I wasn't going to do it. After all, what can a 12 year old boy do, how much can a 12 year old boy do? Surely there was change needed, but someone else, someone more qualified could do it."

I said, shrugging my shoulders.

"But when no one even tried to rise to the challenge, I decided, it was me or no one. And it was now or never."

I thumped the air with my fist.

"So, I began to prepare. I knew that a symbol was needed. Someone like All Might, that could blaze a path to the future. And All Might did do that, mind you. He reduced crime to levels heretofore unheard of. He was and is the symbol of peace. For now at least." I said, implying what everyone was afraid of, before continuing.

This would get me brownie points with stain and his cronies. And the millions who ended up agreeing with him.

"But he also brought on this era of excessive heroics. An era where obsessive narcissists like Endeavor and battle maniacs like Mirko can become heroes. People who are not heroic, but power hungry. More interested in money and fame than doing what's right!" I frowned and gripped the mic harder.

Here's an in with Dabi and the league.

"Hell, just a couple of months back, when that sludge villain attacked Bakugo over here, pro heroes, like Death Arms, Mt. Lady, and Kamui just stood there and watched the villain choke the life out of a poor boy and you know what they said?

The villain is too strong, I can't do anything about it.

Let's just wait for someone with a better quirk to save him.

They were willing to let an innocent boy die, because they didn't have the courage to fight a strong villain. Those are not heroes! And I have no trust in a society that allows such people to be heroes!

Do you know who defeated that villain though?

A quirkless boy did. A quirkless boy defeated a villain that these so called heroes didn't dare to stand against!

That's when I realized it fully.

Heroes are parasites on society. They get a government salary and qualified immunity like the police but are not held to the same standard. They can also go on commercials to capitalize on their popularity. They are more interested in looking good than helping people!"

I said, with great emphasis.

"I realized that hero society must be destroyed. Not just that, I have to be the one to do it.

And that left me with two choices.

I could become a villain and kill all heroes, which would be highly irrational and an absolute waste of great and useful quirks. Quirks that could be very beneficial in other professions.

Or, I could do what heroes are actually supposed to do - inspire.

I decided that I would become the greatest hero, a symbol of what all heroes should be." I said, fueling the competitive spirit of the students. After all who didn't want to be the next symbol of peace.

Now for the final blow. To regain the ground I had lost with the heroes for all that criticism.

"Alongside that came another understanding." I said.

"Why do we need heroes? Because the world is teeming with villains and monsters and great evil hiding in the seams, in the shadows, in every dark corner and backalley.

But consider this - a world that needs heroes is also a world so full of evil, it's terrifying!

And a world full of villains is not a world I want to leave for my children or their children.

I want to create a world without heroes. A world so kind, good and easy to live in that the people will happily cut out the tumor that is hero society with their own two hands.

A world so free of evil, that it doesn't need heroes anymore! A better world.

And to that end I'll bring about the end of hero society by becoming the number one hero."

The students below complained about cheesiness and cringe.

Doesn't matter. Gotta do what I gotta do.

"I know some of you think I'm stupid or just plain wrong for a million different reasons. And that's perfectly valid."

Confused whispers came out everywhere as I continued.

"You want to prove me wrong? Come at me with all your might! Fight me, defeat me! Show me what the last generation of heroes is made of! And most importantly, have fun doing it! After all, a world without fun has no future!

And I pledge, that I'll be number one!" I said, flashing a bright smile, amid boos and jeers and few precious cheers.

Bingo! Just the reaction I had hoped for.

And that last line was certain to get me Nighteye's invitation. That's a sponsor for the work study secured.
