10 10. Grant was brainwashed

"What do you mean!?" asked May

"Go through the old files of SHIELD during world war 2, he was one of the persons captured by Peggy Carter one of the most loyal followers of Red Skull and went by the name Werner Reinhardt, you will find him," Grant said.

"As for that person Coulson I don't exactly know what happened but I am pretty sure that he or she must have died after that no matter what healing power they had after all if that person was still alive he or she would have been on SHIELD Index and Whitehall would have once again gotten his hand on that person," stated Grant as he started at Coulson

May glared at him which was enough for Grant to understand that he has to keep his mouth shut if he doesn't want to get beaten by the Cavalry again.

"Let us check up on this first if what you said is true and we do find him then, you can tell us the rest about Daniel Whitehall," said May to which Grant nodded his head in acceptance.

Coulson didn't say anything else to Ward and simply walked out of Vault D with May at his heels.

"May ask the team to go through the old files of SHIELD when it was SSR, I want to know about Werner Reinhardt," said Coulson as he stepped out of Vault D.

Mary nodded her head and headed to her right to inform the team while Coulson moved to the left towards his office.

While Coulson and May were having their talk with Grant, Fitz was sitting in the lab and researching something on his laptop when he once again started to hallucinate Jemma who asked "What are you doing Fitz!?"

"Wh-What does it look like Jemma!? I-I am do-doing rese-research " Fitz said

"Yes, I can see that Fitz! But why are you researching on brainwashing!?" asked imaginary Jemma.

"Because I be-believe that Ward may have been brain-brainwashed!?" Fitz said.

"Fitz do you think that he was Brainwashed, Brainwashing also called Coercive Persuasion, systematic effort to persuade nonbelievers to accept a certain allegiance, command, or doctrine. A colloquial term, it is more generally applied to any technique designed to manipulate human thought or action against the desire, will, or knowledge of the individual. I don't think that Ward did anything against his will when he throws us into the bottom of the ocean." said imaginary Jemma.

"Yes, but it-it was to save us. The medical..... the medical pod was supposed to float and Ward was right. If-If we stay-stayed in the bus we would have been sho-shott dead by the other Hydra agents or-or maybe even by Mike." Fitz said, "And you-you heard the story he told us, how-how he was iso-isolated for 5 years since he-he was a teen-teenager right"

"By controlling the physical and social environment, an attempt is made to destroy loyalties to any unfavorable groups or individuals, to demonstrate to the individual that his attitudes and patterns of thinking are incorrect and must be changed, and to develop loyalty and unquestioning obedience to the ruling party. You are saying that Garret kept him in isolation for 5 years so that he could brainwash Ward into his little minion." stated the imaginary Jemma.

"Yes, exactly. If- If it's true then-then...." seeing that Fitz was having a problem with completing his sentence imaginary Jemma helped him by completing his sentence "Then Ward was a victim as well and we need to help him"

"Yeah," said Fitz with a smile, something which has not come on his face for a long long time.

"Then, are you going to tell this to Director Coulson," asked imaginary Jemma.

"No, I don't have eno-enough info-information for it. I will have to talk to Ward some more be-before I can go to him." Fitz said

"But even for that, you will need Coulson's permission," imaginary Jemma said.

"I am-I am sure he will give it to me," said Fitz as he stood up from his seat and walked out of the lab to walk straight towards Coulson's office.

In his office, Coulson was going over what Ward has told them about Daniel Whitehall A.K.A Werner Reinhardt when someone knocked at his door.

"Come in" called Coulson as he looked up to see Fitz peeking from behind the doors.

"I-I am sorry to di-disturb you director," said Fitz as he entered the door.

"No, it's alright Fitz is there something you wanted from me," asked Coulson.

"Yes, I wanted your per-permission so that I-I can talk to Grant again," Fitz said while looking towards Coulson.

The moment Coulson heard Fitz's request alarm started to go off in his head as he thought this was what Grant was after so he directly denied the request, "No, you can't talk to him, Fitz"

"Wh-What!? Why!?" asked Fitz in surprise.

"Because that's what he wanted from the start when he decided to tell us information about Hydra this was what he was aiming for he knew that you are kind and that's why he wanted to talk to you he is trying to exploit your weakness, Fitz," said Coulson explaining his reasoning.

"I-I am not WEAK, I went on a mission with Ward where a spe-specialist like him needed my help to save him, I am not weak," Fitz said shocking Coulson because not only Fitz raised his voice but he didn't stutter much.

"I am not calling you weak Fitz, but you already believed in him once, and look what happened!?" Coulson said.

"It wasn't his fault, Ward did try to-to save us and it was the rig-right way but the med.....medical pod mal- malfunctioned, how could Ward have known about this!" said Fitz

"That may be true but he still has hurt a lot of people Fitz and killed a lot of people as well, Billy Koenig lost his brother cause of him," Coulson said as he stood up from his seat, "Why do you want to talk to him again Fitz!?"

"Umm... I-I just umm...."
