1 Danger

….Ding…..

The bright red light suddenly turned green , and the door below it was slowly pushed open with a slight creak .

The people waiting outside , lifted their heads up with anticipation .

A tall and thin young woman wearing a white coat , walked from behind the door. When she saw her, an elderly woman rushed toward her with a worried expression and eyes gleaming with hope and expectations .

" Doctor Lin, please tell me, how is my son doing ? W..will he be fine ?"

The young woman looked at the elderly in front of her , although her expression was cold showing a slight of tiredness, her calm beautiful eyes gave off a warm feeling . She responded in a serious tone.

" The surgery was successful , the tumor has been completely removed, but we must keep him under observation to insure his full recovery ".

The elderly listened attentively with tears of joys running through her cheeks , her dear son was finally freed from this nightmare .That thing in his brain destroyed his life , some doctors even said that he will not be able to pass his twenties but thankfully , there were still some hope, the famous genius neurosurgeon, Lin Qiao, finally retuned from America ,she studied closely her son 's case and in less than a month she found a new approach . The Elderly woman couldn't retain her tears as she hugged tightly her son's savior, then she said with a sobbing voice ;

"…sob… Thank you ,really thank you so much…. Sob …. I didn't know what to do if I lose my only son … I will be forever grateful to you …thank you …"

" Thank you , although we will not be able to repay you in this lifetime , we will never forget your kindness " . The other members approached Doctor Lin and thanked her wholeheartedly one after another . Lin Qiao glanced at the woman in her embrace and gently patted her back .

" It's my job as a doctor , and I will continue doing my best " After some short exchange Lin Qiao left the crying family and headed into the main hall, Mei , a nurse charged of the reception spotted her and smiled brightly at her .

" Qiao , how was it ?"

Lin Qiao glanced at Mei and replied calmly to her :

_" The surgery was successful"

_" I knew it ! Any patient sister Lin laid her hands on , will be surely cured .by the way you should rest you look a little tired "

" I'm fine , I have some works left ,and what are you talking about ? From your words , we may think that I have some kind of super powers"

" It may be the case ! I always knew that sister Lin is special !"

" I don't have anything special , I only use my brain and all those years of studies"

" Calm , kind ,a capable person who can succeed in all what she does, and also humble ,please marry me "Mei looked at Lin Qiao with her puppy like eyes .

" Stop joking around and resume your work ,also give me room five's patient's folder" Mei hurriedly searched in the pile of document and quickly handed over a folder to Lin Qiao with her head down .

" There , Master! Anything what master say this servant should comply" Lin Qiao ignored Mei 's joking glare and headed to room five with the field in her hand . Mei looked at Lin Qiao back with a bright smile before returning to her work .

After some times , Lin Qiao exited the room and walked toward the reception , but suddenly her steps halted , and a frown was shown on her face. The originally joyful Mei was now slightly trembling , although she tried her best to remain calm a gleam of fear could be seen in her face as she looked at the two men before her , one has a pale expression and was leaning on his partner's shoulder the other looked nervous and talked impatiently to Mei .both of them wore black masks covering their noses and mouths .

Lin Qiao with her expressionless face , resumed her steps , when she approached, the impatient man was slightly afraid and his hand instinctively touched his right pocket . Lin Qiao ignored the two men ,and only spoke to Mei with a calm and unhurried tone .

" Mei , Patient in room number five need a new transfusion now, and I can't find nurse Xia , can you be in charge of this task ?" Lin Qiao handed the folder to Mei and looked at her seriously . Mei instinctively looked at the two men a little hesitant ,but when she saw the serious and calm Lin Qiao she complied and stood up under the watchful gazes of the two men . When the impatient one was about to say something , Lin Qiao ,turned toward him and said :

" Excuse me , because of some circumstances , I will be the one in charge of you , I'm Doctor Lin , welcome to XXXX hospital , how may I help you ?" The man examined the woman before him from head to toe before talking.

" My friend got injured and is in a real pain , I hope you 'll be able to heal him ?"

" Let me examine him first, please follow me in room number three" The three of them entered a room which contained four empty beds , Lin Qiao helped the paled man to lay on one of them before starting her examination ,in the other hand , the nervous man make sure to shut the door and the curtains surrounding the bed , then he stood beside the bed in front of the doctor looking intensely at her every movement with his hand inside his right pocket .

Lin Qiao didn't really mind the man , she directly put her focus on the pained patient before her eyes who on the left side of his shirt has a bloody mark covering a bloodied spot just on the right side of his stomach , it was obviously caused by a gun shot , but Lin Qiao wasn't surprised , she knew there were something fishy with the two men and what was also expected ,is the gun locked at her forehead just in front of her .

Lin Qiao calmly lifted her head to glance at the gun before looking at the man holding it .

" Look , I…. I don't have any intention to kill anyone here , all what you have to do is to obediently treat my partner ,...then we will silently leave without involving the cops "

In normal cases, when the hospital receives a civilian with a gunshot wound , the doctors must immediately inform the police to start an investigation ,that why this man resorts to threats .

" I understand , but you must promise me that until you leave you will not injure anyone in the hospital " Said Lin Qiao with a serious tone . The man was a little surprised by the calm Lin Qiao, ordinary with a gun locked on them people would start shivering in fear , but this doctor was different . With a sigh , the man replied "If everything goes well , I promise I won't injure anyone".

Satisfied with the answer , Lin Qiao resumed her work , ignoring both man and gun , she gathered all the needed tools ready to start the extracting of the ball , but when she was about to inject the anesthesia , the man stopped her .

" Don't use anesthesia "

" Don't worry , this is local anesthesia it's won't make him unconscious "

[Don't worry , I'll make sure you leave as soon as possible]

Lin Qiao resumed the surgery , everything went smoothly , the man didn't make any rash movement , and Qiao skillfully removed the bullet , but when she was about to close the wound , the door of room three suddenly opened and someone walked in . The man standing was startled , his hand holding the gun slightly trembled and was now locked in the direction of the door ,but thankfully the curtains surrounding the bed were close the newcomer can't see what was happening behind it , therefore he would not know that his life was now on the line.

Seeing that ,Lin Qiao slowly stood up , gesturing at the man to stay calm and to let her handle it , after receiving his agreement she walked from behind the curtains ,the nurse Xia that just came in was startled , she thought that room three was empty but soon after identifying the person before her she smiled .

" Oh ,Doctor Lin , it's you ! I didn't know you were here , also congratulation for your successful surgery , I knew you'll be able to save that child ".

" Thank you nurse Xia , I was just doing my job , and ….. May I know what you are doing in room three ? I thought this room would be empty until tomorrow morning."

" Yeah , it was the case before , but we just received a call , a car accident occurred in the national road, and we need to prepare this room , that why I'm here ." Nurse Xia gently explained the situation to Lin Qiao .

" I see ! When will they arrive ?"

" Maybe in one hour or less "

" I understand, Nurse Xia, I have a patient here, and he can't be removed right now , can you please give some time to finish the treatment , then we will empty the room for you to prepare , it won't take long ". Nurse Xia, looked at the closed curtains behind Lin Qiao, she could not see anything , but she trusted Doctor Lin, so she smiled at her and agreed.

" Of course, no problem but do you need any help ? "

" No need, thank you nurse Xia"

" Then, please continue your work , I won't disturb you any longer , if you need anything just call for me ." After bidding farewell to Doctor Lin , nurse Xia left the room . A cold sweat run down Lin Qiao's forehead , she was nervous , something awful might have happened but fortunately it was not. Qiao returned beside the patient and resumed her work .

After leaving the room ,nurse Xia headed toward the reception . A person was sitting there, head lowered , fists clenched slightly trembling , she seemed to be worried about something .

" Mei, are you alright ? Is there something troubling you ?" Mei was surprised she didn't notice anyone approaching, she lifted her head and saw nurse Xia looking at her worriedly.

" I'm fine ,It's just that…..i 'm worried about Lin Qiao ".

" Doctor Lin ? What are you worried about ?"

" A moment ago , two men came here asking for treatment , they both wore black masks and one of them seemed sick , don't know why but …. They seemed nervous , Lin Qiao spotted them and asked me to let her handle them …there is something wrong with them , … I think … they are dangerous ." Nurse Xia thought carefully about what Mei said before replaying .

" Mmmh….I don't know about the two men you are talking about , but I just saw Doctor Lin in room three". Hearing this Mei suddenly stood up and took nurse Xia by her shoulder .

" What did you say ? Did you see Lin Qiao ? Is she alright ?" Nurse Xia was startled by Mei sudden movements , and answered her immediately .

" I think she is fine , she looked like always, calm and composed "

" Is that so ?" although knowing this , Mei couldn't relax .

" But I found something strange …"

" What?"

" She said she was with a patient in room three but in the register the room is supposed to be empty , …maybe she forgot to write in the register , but it's rare , it's the first time she makes a mistake".

Mei frowned , she knows Lin Qiao , and this person is not that careless , perhaps she is being a little paranoid with all these thoughts but still….something is wrong , and it better take some precautions. After taking a decision , Mei took a long breath to calm down , then she extended her arm to take the phone of the reception .

" Security department , how may I help you ?"

" Huh….. Hello, I'm the nurse in charge of the reception , I saw two suspicious men in the hall , could you please come and check the issue ?"
