16 Tears Of Boredom

Chris hurried to pick up the phone and listened to the other side speak without making any facial expression.

“Are you the guardian of the patient named Bella in room no 23?” A male voice spoke from other side of the phone and asked Chris, his voice somewhat calm but Chris knew what it meant when a doctor became calm and silent.

“Yes, I am.” Chris turned his face away from Sherry and spoke in a low whisper. He was still worried about Sherry suspecting things between them.

“…..”, You won’t still change fir better, will you? Sherry looked at his actions and shook her head as she thought how laughable his actions were.

Nevertheless, she waited for him to continue speaking in whispers. She too wanted to know about the condition of Bella and her aunt and uncle who had gone to the hospital along with her as if their own daughter was sick.

“Might as well take a seat.” Sherry made herself comfortable on the nearest couch whole rubbing her hand where Chris had caught. It had a light scar on the place where he had caught her before.

‘A brute! Shameless!’ Sherry cursed in her heart. Her hazel eyes that were looking at her hand shifted from it to the crouched down back of Chris.

“Please be calm when you listen this..” The doctor had a little bit of hesitation in his voice. Chris was still facing away from Sherry so he had little idea about the meaningful gaze she was giving him.

“Hurry it up..I have something really important to attend to.” Chris was getting impatient at this point. He was worried about Bella, there was no doubt about this but he was much more worried about fixing things with the naïve Sherry.

He had a feeling that with a little bit of more persuasion and a little bit of sweet talking, she would once again be head over heels for him.

Then they could continue their marriage after that and he could resume his plans even though that might take a long time.

Only if Sherry knew what kind of thoughts Chris was having in his mind, she would have kicked him from where she was seated, at the private place where it was going to hurt the most. And if he became impotent or something like that because of her…Pfft..She would have thrown a celebration for it.

The doctor was taken aback by quite a bit when he heard the man being rude.

“Miss Bella is in a critical condition at this moment.” The doctor informed Chris.

‘Of course I know it damn it!! That’s why I took her to hospital without even bothering to confront this dumb Sherry!’ Chris cursed inwardly at the insensitive doctor who was only taking up his time.

“Oh….There is a fat man and a skinny woman there with her, right? You can ask them for anything.” Chris answered irritably while gritting his teeth in an attempt to calm himself down.

“I am really busy now.” Chris was implying he was going to cut off the phone call.

“About that Mister, the couple who were beside her left just a moment ago.” The doctor was also starting to get impatient with Chris.

“Wait what…” Chris yelled at the phone when he heard the last statement of the doctor but was interrupted by the calm voice of the doctor. He stopped midway when he was about to touch on the red end the call button on his phone.

“Since both of us are busy, let me get this straight. Miss Bella just had…..” The doctor gave the shocking news to Chris who had not expected any thing of that magnitude.

Sherry was also startled by the sudden outlet of Chris and realized something great must have had happened.

When the three people had carried the seemingly pale and almost unconscious Bella out of her room, as a doctor she knew there was something wrong regarding her pregnancy.

Although she was a doctor, she did not have much expertise in the field of gynecology and such, but still if she had taken a look at Bella, she might would have realized the problem but well…

She just did not care much about it as she thought about the indulgence last afternoon they had which was a little too much for someone who was almost 9 months pregnant.

Sherry let out another bored out yawn, the corner of her eyes were wet with tears of boredom. She really wanted to get back to her bed and sleep after settling things with Chris so that he won’t come bugging her some other time in future.

Fixing things right now was the only option for her!

But looking at how Chris was reacting all of sudden, Sherry realized that something ,much serious had happened which also meant she had to wait until things settled down on his side.

OOff….Sherry could only let out a depressed sigh.

“What happened?” Sherry stood up from her seat and walked towards Chris swiftly. Placing her hands on top of his shoulder, she asked with a concerned face.

“Get you hand off….” of me..was what Chris about to shout when he felt her hands on his shoulder but quickly changed his tone. The presence of Sherry made him snap back to reality and also get back the composure he had lost.

“Sherry…” His voice trailed off as he looked in to her eyes which were a little wet. He mistook her tear of boredom as tear of pain upon seeing him all riled up.

Seeing her concerned face, he came to realization that Sherry was still the old kind and compassionate girl despite the change she had shown.

“Your best friend…She…” Chris tried to create a face that was in a great deal of shock but not too much so as not to seem obvious and spoke with a stuttering sound.

“Something really bad happened to Bella..” Chris sighed looking at Sherry who also had the *I am so worried and nervous* expression clearly in her face.

‘It’s working!’ Chris commented inwardly as he used the news of Bella to turn the things around for himself.

As long as he could garner the sympathy and forgiveness points from Sherry, he was sure things will look brighter for him and Bella in future.

As for Bella’s condition now….He could just turn blind eye to it and wait until he settled the mess that had appeared because of Sherry’s sudden change.

‘Just wait for me Bella honey, I will make sure to get back at this dumb girl for your loss.’ Chris was determined in his heart as he waited for Sherry to break down in tears and beg him to take her to see her best friend who was currently in the hospital.
