54 Chapter 54 - First Class [4]

'Inexperienced? Why does she want experience out of me... So unreasonable.'

"Is that to say your only gripe about me is my inexperience?"

I said, adjusting my grip on my greatsword and preparing to attack.

"Well, no. But, it's one of the major ones. I'm sure you know your swordsmanship is awful, but you're getting smarter. That's for sure. I'm still impressed with the blood armour thing you made up, where'd you get the idea?"

I took a step and tried horizontally slicing her.

"My brother, his body is like armour when struck but when he attacks its like a blade. Using the blood armour, I can pretty much replicate what he can, but it's hard to use since I need to draw blood out, soldify it and then take it back into my body if I want to use it with weapon enhancement."

She jumped, dodging my attack entirely.

'A kick again. To my head.'

I made a guess, if I wanted to get better at fighting, then I should do what the strongest people around did. And that was predict their opponent's next move.

My prediction felt reasonable and likely, but my gut, my instincts, told me otherwise. They told me that she was going to use her sword.

And, she did exactly that. She held her sword with both hands, and sliced, trying to split me vertically. I moved my sword, defending myself in time.

The weight behind her blade was impressive, but since she was holding back, I could at least hold my own.

'It's a shame I can't use ignition, if only had somewhere to train that... or better yet, someone to train that with.'

She then, pushed against my sword with hers, jumping back.

"Let's leave it here for today, you should take the time to digest what you've learnt, heal up and watch me and Arthur. Takes notes if you want."

I looked at her, scoffing as I put my sword into my cloak.

"Are you implying I'm weaker than him?"

She sighed.

"No, I'm telling you he's an infinitely better swordsman."

Shrugging my shoulders, I sat down, and even took a notebook out.

'I guess she isn't exactly wrong, this guy's like, 50...? 60...? I'm not even sure how old he is, but he's an old man deep down.'

Arthur looked at me, extending his hand.

"Your sword. Hand it over. I'll show you how to use it."

I obliged, this sword wasn't special or anything so I didn't mind if he ended up breaking it or something.

'That reminds me, I need to get a proper sword at some point. Some sort of Artifact would be nice.'

Arthur stood infront of our teacher, the air around him was different compared to when he fought me.

'Now that I think about it, the day he fought me should've been the day he regressed. So, he probably wasn't at his best. But, since he's had a day to properly assimilate to this body, he should be even stronger. Though, only his technical skills will grow, output isn't something that can grow overnight'

I stopped enhancing the rest of my body, and used Blood Manipulation and Arcane Enhancement only to enhance my eyesight. After all, Awakened often moved faster than the eye could see, and even if I could see everything, they'd move so fast that I wouldn't be able to turn it into a learning experience.

And so, Arthur enhanced his body with Mana before further enhancing it with Lightning Magic to better his movement and reaction speeds.

And so, Arthur swung his sword.

My jaw dropped a little. Even an ordinary person could see just how incredible certain pieces of art were. However, to truly understand how great something was, one had to have tried learning it.

To truly appreciate something, you had to know at least a little about it. Despite having spent only a short amount of time with the sword, I could understand what I was seeing right now.

'How can a sword swing be like that? Aren't they just ways to shred flesh, why's he swinging it in such a, for lack of a better term, pretty way.'

To me, a sword swing was a method to achieve destruction. But, to Arthur, it was an art that he had very clearly honed for decades.

Looking at Adrienne, it was clear that even she was stunned, her eyes had widened as she looked Arthur in genuine confusion.

"I'm not even going to question it at this point, just come at me already."

Arthur used Eaeth Magic to create highly compact balls of powdered stone.

Adrienne prepared to dodge, but the balls exploded into a cloud of dust, obscuring her vision. Adrienne swung her sword, dispersing the cloud of dust but had to rub her eyes to get rid of the bits of powdered stone that got in her eyes.

But by the time she did that, Arthur was already in the air. Using Wind Magic, he maneuvered himself whilst airbone by creating powerful gales before landing behind her, then he swung his sword at her.

Thanks to his wind, he had also removed any dust particles that would've otherwise impeded his own vision.

She also swung her sword and managed to block the attack through sheer speed.

Arthur managed his range, making sure to stand at a point where her blade would never reach him, but close enough to where his blade could reach her.

I realised something, whilst maneuvering in the air he had made sure to land at the perfect range, and as such he hadn't needed to take even a single step since he landed. Manoeuvring in the air using Magic was already hard, but to make sure to land the perfect distance whilst taking into account weapon range was another level of precision entirely.

He swung his sword, Adrienne blocked it each and every time. Each and every swing was perfect, they maximised the force produced whilst minimise the energy and Mana used.

I paid close attention, refusing to blink as I watched one of the greatest swordsmen who had ever lived fight.

Well, Adrienne was there too I guess.
