I was in my room, I had been sent a pin. That pin was essentially my room's key.

My room was fairly big, though basic. It had a desktop, a closet, and it was even an en suite room, so it had a bathroom in it. The bed was a double bed, so it was big enough for me toss and turn in despite my larger body.

There were also other things provided, books, several sets of school uniforms were in my closet, there was even a minifridge.

Now, the Academy didn't pay for everyone's stuff. I just got stuff for free since I was a commoner who didn't belong to a particularly rich family so I was given all this stuff for free. Not only did they give me free stuff, but I also got an allowance every week.

Sighing, I got into a set of pajamas that was also provided by the academy and after washing up, I got into bed, thinking about how to get even stronger.

I thought about the Student Council president's ability to manipulate wind, and thought about how I was able to create shockwaves through physical strength, those shockwaves were something I could utilise in combat.

Everyone could do that, even ordinary humans could create small shockwaves if the punched fast enough. However, the ability to manipulate that air pressure wasn't an ability that existed as far as I was aware.

Shockwaves and air pressure, they were a result of lots of air being displaced quickly. The only ways to generate more air pressure would be to either get faster, or to displace more air. And, to actually be able to effectively manipulate air pressure in my current state, I'm going to need to learn how to displace lots of air.

The reason I want to learn how take advantage of air pressure is because it'll offer me ways to attack and defend without relying on relying on regeneration. At the moment, I can't use Blood Manipulation with a weapon in my hand as Blood Manipulation relies on my regeneration to be used to it's fullest.

And, I can't use both Weapon Enhancement and Arcane Healing at the same time. Abandoning my weapon isn't exactly something I want to be forced into, and losing the ability to attack at range and the ability to properly defend myself isn't something I want.

If I can learn to manipulate air pressure, if I can create a Mana Art that controls air pressure, then I won't need to abandon my weapon in combat to have ranged attacks.

Sighing, I got out of bed.

Technically speaking, I didn't need to sleep to survive. It was just nice, and it also stopped me from hallucinating. However, I was behind in terms of the theory content. And, if I want to create a Mana Art, I need to have a better understanding of science.

Mana Arts often were a mix between Mana and science, so I couldn't slack on my learning. And, if I decided to make good use of all 24 hours of my day, my growth would be tremendous. Though, my goal for just now would be to catch up on theory stuff.

I already understand the basics of how to generate air pressure, so it shouldn't take too long to create the Mana Art.

'I suppose I'll have to look into how air is displaced, but first thing first, I gotta study.'

And so, I got out of bed and sat at my desk. I reached for one of the books, deciding it probably didn't matter which one I picked up first.

I opened the book, and squinted. I strained eyes, I looked at it from different angles and even began to read it aloud.

'Yeah. I'm so screwed. What do these words even mean..?'

Sighing, I decided to change my clothes and headed to the library. The library was open 24 hours a day. At night, you couldn't actually borrow books as there wasn't a librarian present. However, you could read the books in the library and use it's facilties to study.

'Okay, since maths and science work the same as they did back home I should probably spend more time on geography, history and that sorta stuff. Oh I should also look at stuff to do with combat. Fighting also has its own theory.'

After picking out some books on combat theory, I began to read through them.

Awakened needed to understand tactics, and strategy on a fundamental level so as to not be nuisances in battle. An Awakened who just rushed into battle without plans would only die, when it came to large scale battles anyways.

In a one on one situation, it wasn't that bad an idea to rush in depending on the situation.

Awakened like myself who worked for a nation also needed to learn how to minimise damage. Many Awakened decided to take advantage of their power compared to the unawakened, and committed crime.

And so, in the Empire anyways, Knights were responsible for handling criminal Awakened. In recent years, most of the crime was just handled by Caelus Tempest.

The guy could hear about an incident on the other side of the country and solve it in the same minute due to his sheer speed.

Prior to his existence, each major city had a group of Knights stationed there while smaller villages had a singular Knight to protect them. Knights also protected ordinary people from Mana Beasts.

Knights were almost always Awakened. Ordinary people could enlist into the army, but they were referred to as soldiers rather than Knights, they also used more modern weapons.

A Knight could use a gun, but there wasn't a huge point. Why use a gun when you could outrun a bullet moving at top speed? There were more powerful guns and bullets of course, but they were pricy. And, the stronger Awakened could quite literally just stand there and be showered in Magical Bullets, which were kind of pricy Magic Items, without sustaining even a scratch.

It was much easier to use a sword that had a high level of Mana conductivity, that way one could take advantage of their superhuman abilties. Or, if one was more suited to it, raining down bolts of fire or whatever from afar was more effective than shooting regular bullets.

'And, there's people like Reinhardt's brother, Gunther Hyperius who don't even need Mana to be bullet proof.'
