28 The Captain wakes up

It's been about a year since my fight with the abomination, I'm still mad at myself for how it went, I can't wait for the avengers to be formed so I can fight others close to my strength so I can get practice with fights at this power level.

I can fight and dominate everyone weaker then me but it doesn't help with beings close to my skill and strength.

Shortly after I came back from a Strix table meeting I went to my lab to once again work on one of my many projects.

Before I could start on anything I got a call from Fury, "I thought you'd like to know that we found your old war buddy."

Actually interested in what he has to say, "oh, you finally found him?"

"Finally?"

"Yeah me and Howard never actually thought he died, we just couldn't find him."

"So I finally got something over on you?"

"No, not really I just gave up on looking after Howards death, I knew he'd show up eventually."

"I think your just trying to make yourself feel better, I'm taking this as a win.

Anyways he'll be flown into a safe house in New York in two days if you'd like to be there."

"See you then."

I put my phone down then stared at the wall for a moment.

"Raphael, use our satellites to find and keep an eye on the captain to make sure he makes it to the states safely."

"I was already on it."

"Good how is Tony's gift?"

"So far every test is successful."

"Good keep me updated, I'm going to see if Natasha is doing anything.

Two days later.

I stood on a roof as a helicopter landed and a couple of medics took Steve out and headed inside.

I watched then as the doors shut.

After they wheeled him inside, I turned back to the helicopter to see Fury step out with his coat flowing in the wind.

"I definitely had to see it for myself, he definitely didn't age a day."

"Our scientists speculate it's because of the ice surrounding him, it made a protection of sorts."

"Who actually found him?"

"You have no faith."

I just stared at him without blinking.

"Fine some random explorers found him and called it in, no one believed them but we caught wind of it and sent a team to get more information."

"Glad you did, any word on when or if he will wake up?"

"Doctors says his system started to work again shortly after he started to thaw out and somehow they are predicting he should wake in a week."

"Great I'm going to see him."

As I walked downstairs, (Raphael, any predictions?)

(Without scanning his body I could make a guess that his super quick recovery is because he has your blood in his muscles fibers from the serum.)

(Good.)

I walk into the room they setup for him, "long time no see old friend, I tried to keep everyone alive for you to see again, I couldn't keep Howard alive sadly, but he did have a son, I don't think you two will get alone but I know I'll have a laugh at your guys meeting."

After a couple more moments I left the room to discuss how Fury plans on breaking the news to him about the 70 year nap.

After talking to Fury and completely throwing his idea out the door and basically calling him stupid came up with a better one.

I'm going to use my magic to make an illusion around the room they are constructing and make it look like the 40's in New York again, I'll also change my look back to Nathan for a while until I make sure he won't break anything, after that I'll simply talk and break it to him slowly.

Roughly a week later.

I'm sitting in the only chair in Steve's room waiting on his lazy ass to wake up, I got bored so I took out my phone to send some messages to important people in my business and the Strix.

Before I could finish sending all the messages I needed to send I heard a grown, I quickly put my phone in my pocket.

I walked to his bed, "hey Mr. Hero are you awake?"

Looking around, "how did I get back to New York? Did we win?"

"You were found and flown here, and because of you we did win the war."

"I'm glad, how long have I been out?

I'm surprised the others aren't here."

"You've been out for a little bit, and don't worry your dance can wait a little bit longer?"

"Peggy has she visited I need to see her."

"You can see her after you rest up you've been asleep for a while you're body has to rest."

"I feel normal and strong as ever."

"Good, I need to tell you some things."

(Raphael, you made sure the cameras are not working right.)

(Already guessed you'd want it done, they got turned off and a fake feed was fed to them as soon as he awoke.)

(Your the best.)

(I know, you can praise me all you want.)

I just rolled my eyes.

After making sure this room was cut off I told Steve about me being a Original vampire and some of my powers, then showed him my current/ true form.

"But your still the same person I know right?"

"Of course, I don't hide who I am when I change my face."

"Good, I have a feeling there's more then what you've told me."

"Still amazing as ever with your investigation skills."

He just smiled.

"You've been asleep a lot longer then I led you to believe."

Taking a deep breath, "how long have I been asleep?"

I put my hand on his shoulder, "you've been asleep in ice for around 70 years, I'm sorry."

Looking completely shocked and sad.

"How's Peggy?"

"How am I not surprised that's your first question after learning you've been asleep for so long."

"Well I had a date."

"A lot has change in the last 70 years, technology has grown a lot.

At the moment Peggy is away doing experimental treatments to keep her alive." [I said this because after she was informed about him being awake she said she wants him to get used to the world before she comes back and throw him back into the past.]

"At least she's still alive."

"You'll see her eventually."

He looked like a stone was lifted off his shoulders.

"Howard?"

"Unfortunately he isn't here anymore, but he did have a happy life, he finally settled down and had a wife and kid."

"Wow, Howard had a wife that surprising, him having a kid not so much I thought he'd get a girl pregnant eventually."

I couldn't hold back my laughter on that one.

But it stopped on his next question, "what about yourself?"

"Nope no kid or family, to busy saving Howard's son he's a handful."

After a bit more catching up and me explaining how the world is we finally left the room and I introduced him to Fury.

As I left the building for the day I couldn't help but think how much I enjoyed that, it's good to see an old friend every once in a while.
