4 Chapter 4: Loyalty in a Flesh

My conversation with Coby went on for a long hours. I told him many things about the outside world. Things about the four seas, Grand line and the new world. Since he wanted to be a marine, I also told him many things about the new world and how they operate.

I aslo mentioned that my Grandpa was the hero of the Marines Monkey D Garp. He almost went crazy when he heard this. He was puzzled by the fact that my Grandpa was the hero of the Marines while I am out here in the seas wanting to become the King of the Pirates.

He asked me why we are heading to Shells Town. He knew that Shells Town was protected by Marines and was under Captain Morgans. He was a little worried about me because as a pirate, it would be dangerous for me to go to where marines are stationed. I simply told him not to worry about it.

Our conversation went on for a long time and when I told him that I want to go shells town to recruit a certain someone. He couldn't help being a curious little boy so he asked me who that person is.

I looked at him with a calm demeanor and replied" It's Roronoa Zoro. Tehehe"

When he heard this, he freaked out.

"Eeeeeeeeee, but Luffy-san , don't you know that Roronoa Zoro is a pirate hunter. He might not want to join you since you are a pirate. In fact he might want to kill you. You shouldn't recruit him, he's dangerous" Coby said with a worried tone.

His worries weren't wrong at all.

But I told him not to worry. "Tehehe. You don't have to worry at all. Everything will be just fine. Well, if it doesn't go the way I want it to be, that means that's the way it should be. Teheheh"

Coby was left dumbstruck by my words.

It was already time for dinner so we have it while talking about some things. I have many Chicken soup for the soul in my words which I think he would need it in the future. Before bedtime, his admiration for me had grown sky high. His opinion of me had change a lot. At this point, I doubt that he would refuse even If I invite him to be a part of my crew rather than joining the marines.

I told him to use any room he want so he randomly pick one and went to sleep.

I already have a lot of plans for Zoro. Since he will be my first mate, I want him to be strong. And when I meant strong, I mean it like Crazy Strong. I want him to be able fight Some Yonko's commander at equal strength before we go to the new world.

I doubt he would want to use skills other than swordsmanship so his training should be concentrated towards swordsmanship.

There are still many ways I could help him train so helping him become stronger isn't a problem for me.

There is no way I would simply follow the canon on my adventure. Even though I don't want to change many things which might lead to a different future, I will still do things as I like.

I see no point in following canon exactly as it should be.

After 2 days of sailing slowly in the sea, we finally reached our destination.

I am so excited to meet Zoro. What type of loyal one piece fans wouldn't want to meet him. He is the epitome of loyalty, the reincarnation of loyalty, he is loyalty in a flesh. Who wouldn't want to meet and especially since he will be my first nakama, I can't wait to meet him.

I take Coby towards a restaurant that was situated near the dock. I don't want to act like an all knowing guy which might attract unwanted attention so I pretend like I was collecting information.

After asking a few questions to one of the waiter, he told me that Zoro was held captive and Also the reason for his temporary arrest.

Since I already know all the details, I don't ask him any more questions and order some specialty of the house, we ate it left the restaurant.

Coby asked " Luffy-san, are you really trying to recruit the Pirate hunter?"

I simply answered" Of course, Why Would't I? He is strong and is fit to be the right hand man of the Pirate king in the future. Hehehe. You should come with me. Since it was the marines that captured him, you can also learn a few things about the marines"

Coby nodded his head when he heard this.

We went towards the place where Zoro was held captive. It was surrounded by a huge wall. I pulled out a ladder from my ring and since this appeared out of nowhere, Coby was puzzled by it.

Before he asked how I did it, I climbed the ladder and told the him to follow me.

He was still curious but held his thoughts and followed me.

After climbing up, we find Zoro tied to a Cross at the center. Coby was a little scared seeing Zoro but he relaxed when he see that he was tied up.

I jumped down from the wall but Coby doesn't follow me. I walk towards Zoro and it seems like he was sleeping.

I pick a stick that was besides him and start to poke his nose. He doesn't wake up so I continued to poke him with the stick.

After a brief moment, he slowly opened his eyes and look at me with a lot of anger and contempt. Even though he woke up, I didn't stop poking at him and this made him really furious.

He tried to bite my hands but I quickly retract it before he had the chance so he was more furious than before.

He looked at me and said" Hey Teme, do you want to die. I am going to kill you when I got out from this place".

He was looking at me with a lot of anger but I don't take him seriously so instead of dwelling on his threats, I replied" Yo, what is your name?"

Zoro also replied with a calm and polite tone" I am the pirate hunter Roronoa Zoro". He realized that he was threatening me a moment ago and was angry again. "Hey teme, I said I am going to kill you. You bastard wait untill I am free"

I laugh and said" Yo, I am Monkey D. Luffy. I am going to be the King of the Pirates. Nice to meet you. Join my crew."

Zoro was left dumbstruck by my sudden statement. He looked at me and said" This idiot. There is no way I am going to join you. I am a pirate hunter. Just you wait, as soon as I am free, I will surely kill you"

I still don't pay any attention to what he said and replied" You should join my crew. It will be fun. Do you want me to untie you?". I was still standing in front of him without any trace of fear or worries.

He was looking at me like I was the biggest idiot in the entire world and said" Don't you know what I just said. You idiot. I said I am going to kill you. I will never join a filthy pirate like you. I am almost free from this and I will kill you once I am free."

I simply replied" So you still need to stay here before you join my crew. In that case, I will come back tomorrow".

I left him as soon as I said that and he was furious. He watched me walking away and murmured" I won't join a filthy pirate".

I then climbed the wall and left with Coby. We went to a nearby restaurant. Some people were discussing what happened to Zoro and when Coby heard the real reason he was held Captive. He had a weird feeling. His heart was filled with doubts and had a strange expression. To him, the marines were justice and all pirates were evil. But after what he hard, he even start to doubt his dreams.

Seeing this puzzled expression of Coby, I told him" Hey Coby,Don't think about it too much. As I told you before, Some pirates might be good while some marines might even be worse than filthy pirates that you knew. So all marines are not good while also, all pirates aren't evil. It depends on the characters of each individual."

Coby was still having doubts in his heart so I said" You will soon be able to judge them in the future"

Coby was a little at ease.

We left the restaurant after eating some food we went back to the ship.

The next day, I wake up at dawn and stayed in the ship till noon.

At noon, I take Coby towards the plaza where Zoro was held captive.

When we reached the place, We saw the little girl that we we saw yesterday and she was telling us what happened to Zoro.

She was there trying to feed Zoro but Helmeppo and his father's Lackeys showed up spoiling the food.

I decided its time for me to intervene because I do not want to stay in this place for long.

I walked slowly towards Zoro and everyone was staring at me with fear because I was releasing a little bit of Conquerors Haki but it was so little as I do not want to knock out anybody right from the start.

Everyone had a hint of fear in their eyes and watched me silently. Coby was behind me following me without a word.

When I reached Zoro, I waved at him and spoke" Yo, Zoro, nice to meet you again. I decided that we should sail out today so I am here to release you. Is there anything you need to do before we leave".

Since I was constantly releasing conquerors haki, no one disturb me and watch my interactions with Zoro with fear. Even Zoro wasn't as disrespectful as yesterday since he is also under constant pressure of my haki but he still refused" I told you I won't join any evil pirates. After I am released from here, I will hunt pirates again and I am going to become the strongest swordsman in the world"

I laughed at him and stop releasing my haki. I spoke to him" Well that's a nice dream. In that case, you are more fit to be in my crew. The first mate of the Pirate king is the strongest swordsman in the world. It also have a nice ring to the ears. Tehehehe. We should leave, this guy doesn't have any intentions to release you, he was trying to execute you so we should just break out from this place" and I point at Helmeppo.

Since I had already stop releasing my haki, The idiot Helmeppo couldn't help but speak "That is right, I am going to execute, how dare you defy me. I am the son of the great captain Morgans."

When Zoro heard this, he was furious and asked" Okay, I will join you, but I still need my sword. Even though I will join your crew, I will kill you if you let me do things that will part me from my dream. I will still become the strongest swordsman in the world. Is that okay, Captain?"

I had a wide grin and looked at Zoro" Okay, You can become the strongest swordsman in the world if you want. In fact I will even help you in your training."

Zoro was satisfied by my answer while Helmeppo was angry that we ignored him completely and told his guards to capture us.

I don't want to waste any more time so I released my haki and knock them all down.

Zoro eyes flashed with amazement.

I look at Coby and said" You should untie him while I go grab his sword, I won't take long".

As soon as Coby heard me, he start untying Zoro and I left. After a few moments, I see three swords and decided to return to Zoro and Coby.

Just as I was going to jumped down from the window, I saw Morgans and his minions pointing their guns at Zoro and Coby. They were in a pickle since Zoro didn't have his sword and Coby was scared shitless.

I heard Morgans ordered" Fire"

I quickly sped up to them and stand in front of them. Zoro and Coby looked at me with wide eyes and feared that I would be harmed.

But when the bullets hit me, It surprised everyone present because the bullets that hit me bounced back and hurt many marines.

I smiled and said, "That won't work on me. Tehehe"

Morgans look at me with a little hint of fear and asked" So you are one of the devils of the sea. Who are you and what is your purpose. What kind of devil's fruit did you ate?"

Hearing the word devil fruit, Zoro and Coby were puzzled since they thought it was just a myth.

I looked at him calmly and replied" I am here to safe my nakamas. My name is Monkey D. Luffy and I am going to be the king of the pirates. As for my devil fruit, You can call it 'The Sun God Nika'"
