Preparations for War II

Tokyo, Japan...

Devil Hunter's HQ...

Seated within her office, an exasperated expression hung in the face of the pale auburn haired young woman, as she felt the sense of trepidation grow even stronger.

With an anxious expression on her face, she reclined in her seat and heaved a sigh, however after a few moments, a small smile uncontrollably formed on her face, as she pictured how perfect her life together with her loved on would be in the utopia if they managed to win against the devils.

However, after a while, the smile morphed into a frown, as she sighed once more and buried her face in her arms.

The normally headstrong and emotionless Makima was gone, replaced by an anxious woman who was scared of what would become of her loved one, seeing as how he was in the forefront of the war against the devils.

She could see all the gazes of the young devil hunters on him, as if they were casting all of their burdens and the weight of their hopes onto him. Although he still managed to keep that confident smile on his face, she could tell he was worried in a way.

After all, who wouldn't be worried if he or she was carrying the hope of the world on his or her shoulders?

No matter how powerful he was, there was at least an element of doubt and worry at the back of his thoughts, because if he failed to deliver or falls in battle, the world was done for.

Just as she was in deep thought, a stealthy figure slowly crept up from behind her and poked her on the cheek as she instantly turned around with a furious expression. However after seeing who it was her heart regained its calmness before she let out a breath.

"I thought you'd be resting by now, you know, I intentionally excused you of all duties so you could rest and prepare for the battle.."

Looking right at his handsome face, she flashed a small smile.

"I was resting but then I decided to come see you.." The newcomer, the silver haired youth and the strongest devil hunter smiled and spoke.

"Besides I get that the war is coming and all that, but you should relax a bit. I brought ice cream.."

He placed an ice cream box in his hand and pulled her by the hand to her feet before he embraced her beautiful figure with a smile.

"Fine. If you say so.." Makima buried her face in his chest and mumbled under tone.

.

"I can just imagine how beautiful the world would become of we win the war. A perfect utopia where we can be together forever.."

After cuddling for a few minutes they sat to enjoy the ice cream together as Makima suddenly uttered while looking through the glass wall.

"Actually, about that...I just found out something recently." Satoru chipped in instantly as he wiped his lips with a small napkin.

"You know, devils are formed from the fear of the concept that they embody. Meaning, if a devil is to be killed, the concept would still remain. Even if the devil is killed permanently, the concept does not disappear.

Meaning that even if we manage to win the war and eradicate all devils, the probability that in about another century or two devils would once more respawn is extremely high. "

He spoke and looked at Makima who had a raised brow.

"What I'm trying to say is, even if you manage to kill the death devil, famine devil and war devil, the concepts of death, war and famine would still remain because the devils are not the concepts itself, rather they're just a materialization of the fear of the concepts.."

Satoru cleared his throat and explained even further as Makima's frown deepened.

She understood what Satoru was trying to say, it was just that she found it hard to believe that her life long goal was actually an impossible one.

"The perfect utopia would never exist for creatures as diverse and uncontrolled as mankind. Cause fear develops from the souls of humankind and as long as there is fear, the threat of devils still remains.."

He spoke and sighed.

Sighing, Makima moved close to him and embraced his figure as a tear dropped from her eye. In her desperation for attention and love, she had almost eradicated all of her siblings from the face of the world. And now, not only had they become irreparable enemies, they were planning on banding together to seize control of the earth from humankind.

.

Darkness Devil Dimension...

The dark dimension belonging to the Lord of Darkness was unusually gloomy and the eerie silence that reverberated was enough to break even the sturdiest souls.

Meanwhile, 3 figures sat at a small table with distraught expressions on their faces. The first two were familiar figures being Fami and Yoru, while the third was another young woman with night black hair and unusually black sclera with white rings circling within it.

"I still can't believe you two were bested by an ordinary human and Lord Darkness had to come save you..."

She laughed in ridicule, seeing the distraught expressions on the face of her sisters.

She was the death devil, the oldest among the four horsemen and arguably the most powerful. "You don't need to rub it in our face sister. It's just that, that particular human was unusually powerful, and not just that, his ability to manipulate space doesn't seem to come from any devil.."

Yoru chipped with her distraught expression as Death laughed even further.

"He can even create black holes. He's not a normal human at all.." Fami spoke while rubbing her forehead in exhaustion.

"I never thought Makima would team up with a human to try to eradicate us, I still can't believe it.." Death pursed her lips and shook her head. Maybe things being like this were probably for the best.

"Lord Darkness has gone to meet with the other Lords in order to fully plan his descent on Earth. We need to be ready to back him up when it's time. Yoru summon every arch devil and hold a meeting with them. Time is running out.."

After saying her piece she vanished leaving behind her siblings.
