15 Fear finally strikes

She has the Sharingan.

I stared at her in disbelief, but apparently, they mistook it for fear. Was she planning to trap me in a genjutsu? The others felt unfazed by the method, which means she must have used it multiple times before. Aside from all that, why the hell is an Uchiha living in a hidden mist village? Hell no, why is she even alive?

Itachi massacred all the members of the clan, so how? He killed all of them except, except...

"If you want the pain to stop, then tell us who you are," she said, still not aware that I'm not under her Jutsu. Which makes sense as I'm probably the only one who can resist the Sharingan.

I changed my expression to exhaustion and fell to the side, hanging from my chains.

"What did you do? Did you take it too far?" one of the big guys exclaimed and I could hear her breathing loudly.

"No, I- I didn't mean to-"

"I'll take it from here, my lady... you should get back to the lord." That voice. Is he that 4th guy?

"I- thank you, Itsuki... be careful with her."

I could hear the footsteps fade away, but could sense his chakra, standing right before me. When is he going to leave? And how long should I stay like this?

"You can drop the act now." Oh shit, so he knows. Now, how do I play this...

"So, if you knew I was bluffing, why didn't you tell 'your lady'? " I asked and looked right into his eyes. Those were the only things that I could see since any other discriminants of his identity were covered by his black clothes. Those purple orbs saw right through me.

"Because if I had, they would have resorted to other ways to get intel..." the way he said it sent a shudder through my body.

"And why did you stop them? Aren't you a part of this cult or whatever-"

"Don't relax just yet. I stopped them today, but tomorrow the Lord will come to see you..." he looked away from me, and I paused.

"....and I don't think I'll be able to stop him," Itsuki said, as he walked away.

Normally, I would have maintained my cool and snapped back at him with a snarky retort. But standing in the cold cell with no possible means to protect myself from what's to come, my heartbeat sounded loud.

For the first time in my life, I was scared to see the next light of day.

My gut told me, that the worst was yet to come.

......................................................................................

"So, who is this lord you mentioned earlier?" I asked him, for the 3rd time in the past hour. And I was met with a grunt yet again.

I eyed my newfound, and possibly only ally in this dungeon, fully aware that I couldn't trust him one bit. But I knew he had helped me, and saved me from further interrogation. And shielded for me when my cover was almost blown. But why?

"How's your head?" he asked, and even though I knew he was purposely trying to change the topic, I couldn't help taking the bait.

"Wait, how do you know about my wounds?"

"The bandage is probably loose, should tighten it later..."

"Uh hello?! How long do you plan on ignoring me?" Has he been tending to my wounds? Is it to keep me alive, since I'd be no use to them dead?

His chuckle in reply surprised me. " got to admit, you were much easier to look after when you were knocked out." I didn't know what to say to that. The look in his eyes, what the hell?

I can't figure him out. He's the only puzzle I can't solve. Why does that piss me off so much?

"Itsuki... that's your name right?" I heard a sharp intake of breath, and silence followed.

I sighed and continued. " Look, I don't understand why you would help me, or what you gain from it. I do know that I cant expect your help anymore and anything after this is out of your hands-"

"How did you-?" He started, but I cut him off.

"Just tell me, will you? Why are you helping me? And what do these people want?" He looked at me for a second, then sighed. A look of resignation.

I smirked inwardly.

"Very well then, guess it's the least you deserve. You asked why I helped you right? Because..."

His voice dropped, and his eyes were unreadable, "it's because you're like me" he said and showed me his pale wrist. My mind went blank at what I saw there. 5 straight dots. Just like the three on my shoulder.

He's not from this world. He's from mine.
