Problem during the wave mission

"Wow ! your plan actually worked Sakura chan !" Naruto exclaimed after holding the cage.

"It was a very simple plan. I wonder why didn't we tried it before ?

I remember waiting that demon cat with fish and cat food. But it never fell for it." Kakashi said outloud.

The saved plan was very simple.

Sakura bought a female cat and bathed her in fish scented water. Then she prepared a simple trap with that female as a bait.

Unless Tora is a sigma gigachad, he will definitely fall for it.

And he fell for it.

The cat was nothing special just a little good at running away.

After returning to the office the three of them watched in satisfaction how Tora was taken away by his owner.

"Hey gramps ! Before you assigned us another D rank mission, I will say no. And before you start your lecture on mission hierarchy, I know about them. So give us a c rank mission already. "

*Bonk* "show some respect Naruto ." Kakashi hit him.

"Kakashi do you think there ready for a C-rank mission on their own ?"

Hokage asked Kakashi.

"I think they are." Kakashi said smoothly.

The wave mission is finally here. It came very late almost after 2 months of our promotion. But I was not complaining. It obviously give me more time to prepare. I may have grown a lot in the field of strength, and overall power. But when it comes to real life experience then I am no where near at a satisfying level. I have killed animals before but I knew that human death will hit me hard. It is just a question how well I could handle the situation.

But that was not my main concern about this mission. There are two more things that I am concerned about.

The first was uncertainty of this mission. In canon Gato had hired only Zabuza. But if his personality is different, then considering the situation he might higher more shinobi. But that's not all. There are other factors, that might affect this mission. In canon, Sasuke awakened his sharingan during this mission. But Naruto was the one who grew the most during this mission. So the impact of this mission on the team will also matter.

The second thing I was concerned about is my own possible slip up during this mission. There is no doubt about it that the mission is going to be very tense and stressful. I have no experience what so ever when it comes to facing death. And I am really nervous that in the face of death I might lose my controls on my Chakra. And with Kakashi on the team I can rest assured that he will definitely raise the question about why I was hiding my true reserves. Or if the situation call for it, I might have to use some of my hidden tricks. And those techniques will definitely raise question.

But I wasn't going to back down. This mission is important for my own growth. Because after this none of our opponents will go easy on us.

That is true, only if Zabuza go is he on us.

After the dinner, I packed everything necessary for the mission.

Tomorrow is finally our turn to go to the mission of land of waves.

The first problem I faced during this mission was the smell of alchohol.

Yesterday when the old bridge builder introduced himself in the hokage's office, he was comparatively sober. There was the scent of alcohol in the air but it wasn't that strong.

But in the morning of the mission I found it quite strong. It was so strong that I found it difficult to stand beside him.

If this old man has this much money to waste on his alcohol then surely he could have easily afforded a higher rank mission.

Obviously then It wouldn't have been assigned to us, but at least it could have given him an excuse that he was honest. It is the fault of his enemy that he heard a high ranking shinobi.

Now I don't think I will feel sympathy for this old man when he would told his sob story.

Thanksfully Kakashi wasn't too late in this mission.

"Yosh ! Let's head out !" Naruto cheered. He wasn't as enthusiastic as he was during our previous mission as it was not his first time going outside the village.

As soon as we went outside the perimeter of the hidden leaf village, I found something odd. Bye no means I was a sensor. I can feel the Chakra fluctuation of peoples around me who are in my close proximity.

But I can't since anyone who is far away from myself.

This feeling of being watched was nothing more than a instinctual reaction.

Maybe the demon brothers were already following us. I wasn't sure about that. So we continude our walk.

Due to going in a civilian pace, it took us more than one and half day to get outside the border of the land of fire.

All that time Tazuna kept us entertained with his trash fantasy stories. His reaction was odd. So Kakashi tried to find out the truth in his own way of talking. Naruto and Sasuke might have not realised it but I had experience from my previous life about white lies and noble way of talking.

Although I hadn't used them much, but I recognised Kakashi's speech pattern.

But I had to give it to the old drunkard. Even in his drunken state he managed to divert many questions of Kakashi and sometimes even straight out lied to him.

I don't know Kakashi recognised them with his Anbu tricks or not, but I was really impressed with the old man's shamelessness.

From the stories the man told, the key points were, the wave is a poor country. And mostly depended on ships to manage there trade with the inland.

But after Gato company bought all the ships owned by the people of land of waves, he is monopolising his business.

That's why the economic condition of the land of waves is worsening everyday.

And the super bridge builder Tazuna is a saviour by building a world class bridge to the people of land of waves.

That's why they should protect him with their lives.

This height of shamelessness can be compared to that of Hokage. Well that might not be correct as I have not seen the any shameless behaviour of Hokage except for the time when he delivered the entrance speech of the academy and when he encouraged me to do my best in the medical field.

So it will be unfair to compare him to Tazuna. But I think this level of shamelessness is not far behind.

In the first night, Kakashi gave Tazuna his tent as the old drunkard has brought only a piece of blanket, a pair of dress and sake.

No food, no sanitary products, no tents.

He even ate our foods. !

I was aware all out his situation and his poverty. But I wasn't pleased with how much he was drinking.

His entire bag was filled with cheap alchohol.

And cheap alcohols are not exactly very cheap when someone consider the amount he was consuming.

And I wasn't going to leave it like that. He is going to get a lecture if he dares to emotionally guilt trip us on continuing the mission.

Thankfully Naruto's tent was extra large and he said it with Kakashi.

After taking some rest at night we travelled in the morning.

As I expected, not even an hour had passed, after we crossed the border of land of fire, and I found the puddle on the road.

It was the legendary puddle that actually started the Naruto series.

This puddle has played an important role in the first major character development in Naruto. He was scared for the first time in his life.

And for the first time we were showed his true determination after the fight with mizuki.

But let's not forget that I was in the real world of Naruto. So this was going to be very important for me too. Especially when this will be my first time witnessing a death scene. It might be fake but it was a death scene nonetheless.

I tried to maintain my body language like before and got mentally prepared. I increased the rotation speed of my Chakra inside myself.

It was to ensure that I do not slip up anything due to shock that I was going to feel.

I was so focused on myself that I didn't realise when we crossed the puddle.
