Reborn As A Marine Fodder

Jeffery led a sad life, he had no drive, no goals, no ambitions, he was just waiting for it all to end, and one day his wish came true. After being hit by a truck, Jeffery found himself in another world, one he was familiar yet unfamiliar with. "....Am I in One Piece? But why am I a fodder Marine!" --------------------------------------------- Don't ask me about harem/no harem, I'll see how the story progresses and decide at the appropriate time. (even though that shouldn't really be relevant anyway unless the focus on this was R18 or romance which its not) Along with the last point no R18 there are enough fanfics with that shit, and frankly y'all can just usethe actual sites you bunch of degenerates. This isn't too serious read it if you want, no one's forcing you too so don't come raging at me if its not to your tastes, but I always welcome a negative review as long as its constructive. Lastly I obviously don't own the cover, or One Piece or any other franchises or works of fiction that may appear in this fanfic. That is all.

Chapter 9 Special Mission

"Captain!"

The marines saluted as a man appeared before them. He was quite tall standing at about 2.2 meters tall with a darker complexion. His eyes demanded respect and his muscles showcased his power. He was dressed in a purple suit with a Justice coat on top. This was naturally Captain Tyrone.

"You've all done well. I am surprised you managed to defeat the Red Blood pirates without me." Tyrone praised them as he looked towards the downed Captain Red Blood. "Sir it was all because of Seaman First Class Rak." A marine explained while motioning towards Rak.

"Oh the one who took down Captain Puff, you're just as strong as Evans described in that case. Good work. Come to my office tomorrow at noon I have much to talk with you about." Tyrone said placing his his hand on Rak's shoulder. "Yes sir!" Rak replied.

After that the pirates were taken into holding and the rest of the marines went back to what they were doing. Rak was quite drained after the fight, but he decided to finish his training anyway before falling soundly asleep.

The next day he got up bright and early, and began his day like usual before heading to the Marine Base. He assumed Captain Tyrone simply wanted to give him his promotion, after all the system had already indicated a promotion was on its way, so it made sense that he'd get it almost immediately after.

Entering the building Rak greeted the secretary. They had gotten to know each other some more over the weeks, after all Rak would see him everyday to get his task. "He's waiting for you upstairs, he's in the room with the big door." The secretary explained to Rak before doing some paperwork.

Seeing that he was busy Rak simply left and went up the stairs. After walking around for a minute he found a big door at the end of a hallway which he assumed was the door the secretary was referring to. Rak then knocked on the door and waited for a response.

"You may enter." Tyrone's voice sounded soon after. Hearing this Rak naturally opened the door and entered the office. "You did well in the last attack, Captain Red Blood is one of the strongest pirates in the South Blue, while not exactly my match, it stills impressive for you to defeat him." Tyrone explained.

"Because of this, I've made the decision to promote you to Petty Officer, along with that I have a job for you to do." Tyrone continued. 'A job?' Rak thought in confusion. Just as he was about to ask he heard a ding at the back of his head.

"I need you to infiltrate Polink Island. It is an infestation of pirates here in the South Blue but we've never been able to take care of it. Truth be told there are quite the number of strong pirates living there to the point where even I'd be defeated." Tyrone explained before taking a brief pause.

"But on their own the strongest pirates there are merely on the level of Red Blood. So your mission is to sneak into Polink Island under a new name and eliminate the 5 heads of Polink island. Since you're a relatively new marine no pirates outside the one's we've already detained know your face. Simultaneously I know this might be a lot of responsibility for you, so feel free to decline." Tyrone finished as he locked eyes with Rak.

"....I understand. I'll take the mission." Rak replied. 'With these system rewards how could I decline?' Rak sighed as he looked at the system, if he passed up this mission his progression would be stunted. Besides if they were only as strong as Red Blood then by the time he fought them he'd already be much stronger. "Great you set off tomorrow, enjoy your time you have the day off." Tyrone said. "Ah also here's a book with the necessary information." He added as he handed Rak a book.

Rak then left the marine base with the book in hand before going into his room. "This is going to be troublesome." Rak sighed as he finished reading the book. Polink island was quite the dangerous location.

It was swarming with 1000s of pirates, and had 5 heads. Each head as Tyrone had describe was as strong as Red Blood. But in reality their crews were comparatively much stronger, as the pirates on the island constantly fought amongst themselves. It was only in the presence of marines that they banded together. This created an environment were either you got stronger or died because of your weakness.

'But the system rewards.....' Rak sighed as he looked at the task given.

Rak would have considered not taking the mission, if the Skill Up Token wasn't there. At the rate things were going each level up of a skill would give massive gains, but the requirement for each level was exponentially higher than the last. Because of this Rak desperately needed that token for the future.

But Rak wasn't naive either, this mission was going to be harder than Tyrone described. 'If we take the Merit points rewarded for defeating a person as their approximate power, than Captain Ink is at least twice as strong as Captain Red Blood, at least according to the system.' Rak thought, but since he was entering a pirate island, who said he'd have to play by the rules?
