Where did it all go wrong?

To say that Inei was shocked when he appeared in this world as a solid shadow would be an understatement. It had taken quite some time, 3 months and 15 days to be exact, to learn just where he had come.

He pieced together the clues: strange body, strange energy in the atmosphere, strange creatures lurking around, and strange humans that called themselves jujutsu sorcerers.

It was a bit of a leap to immediately assume that he was in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, but after eavesdropping on the conversation of some unsuspecting sorcerers, and the several other places of similarities between this world and the one written by Gege Akutami, he felt it was a valid theory.

Being a cursed spirit in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen was like being a hooman in a pool of starving piranhas; you can't survive. Unless, of course, you join Geto or Jogo and his pals.

Thus, he chose the most obvious path for a person fearful of his life... he hid deep underground and started binging on anime and manga, of course! It was a bit of a pain getting the Wi-Fi to work so deep underground, but after a bit of hard work, it became possible for him to enjoy his carefree life.

That is, of course, until the white-haired, blindfolded, pretty boy came!

He had just started watching the newest anime by MAPPA Co., "Random but Good Anime Number 3". The studio had claimed that Mikoto-Chan herself had voice acted for the female-lead! Just as the first half of the video had finished, the white-haired, blindfolded, pretty boy with cool eyes intruded into his house!

It was good that he had taken improv classes back in high school. Playing the part of a cowardly and pacifistic cursed spirit that humanity's best interest in mind(he would never admit his cowardly tendencies), he could survive and the white-haired, blindfolded, pretty boy with cool eyes and space powers would leave him alone.

Yet, nothing ever goes according to plan and the 1.9 meter tall white-haired, blindfolded, pretty boy with cool eyes and space powers grabbed him, and teleported them away.

If he had human eyes, tears would be running down his face, no doubt!

Now, the 1.9 meter tall white-haired, blindfolded, pretty boy with cool eyes and space powers who was once friends with a main antagonist was fighting with Sukuna's vessel.

Sighing, Inei reached his hand into the bag Fushiguro Megumi was holding and took out some Kikufuku mochi. Crying as he swallowed two at a time, he gazed listlessly at Sukuna getting his ass handed to him by Gojo.

One might be thinking, why isn't he running away? Well, the answer to that would be because it is pointless. Gojo can stop him in his tracks with just a thought. If, on the off chance that he did escape, Megumi would just track him with his Divine Dogs.

Suddenly, the tattoos on Sukuna's vessel started disappearing as Itadori Yuuji regained control of his body.

The 1.9 meter tall white-haired, blindfolded, pretty boy with cool eyes and space powers who was once friends with a main antagonist and was almost killed by someone without any cursed energy, smirked before making Yuuji lose consciousness.

Megumi, who was alternating his gaze between Gojou and Inei, suddenly spoke up, "Gojou-sensei... who is this?"

"Ah yes, this is... umm... what was your name again?" Gojou said as he chuckled while rubbing the back of his head, as if embarrassed.

"Hajime Inei, nice to meet you," Inei said as he turned towards Megumi and bowed a perfect 45 degrees.

"Are you, by chance, a cursed puppet user?"

"No?" Inei said as he tilted his head.

"He is a cursed spirit," Gojou said as he motioned for Megumi to pick up Yuuji.

Before Megumi could say anything else, Gojou continued, "He doesn't bear any ill will towards humans, so I'm planning to take him to Shouko to see what makes him different".

He quickly pulled everyone together and teleported them in front of the Tokyo Jujutsu High. Quickly explaining Inei's situation to Shouko, he then teleported out of there, probably to reenact the opening scene of the anime.

Shouko, on the other hand, had taken out large tools of various shapes and sizes before pointing them at Inei.

Before Inei could tell her to stop, she had strapped him into a chair and performed a series of tests with the items that were basically torture devices.

Then, she started to ask him simple questions, like his likes, dislikes, dreams, and favorite celebrities.

An hour or so later, Gojou had come back and started asking Shouko questions.

As he listened to her report, a wide smile came across his face, he tossed Inei over his shoulder and went over to the principal's building.

The inside of the building looked exactly the same as it did in the anime, with there being a huge pile of plush toys and a serious-looking middle aged man sewing in the center.

Even after Gojou entered, he didn't stop or glance in his direction.

"You are a day early. I thought you were going to come with that Itadori brat tomorrow".

"I found something that you and the higher ups might like"

"Hmm," that caught the principal's attention. He glanced up, and when he saw Inei, his eyes, that were covered by his dark colored sunglasses, widened.

"A cursed spirit? What is the meaning of this, Gojou??!!"

"Calm down, principal. This is Hajime Inei, a cursed spirit I found while roaming around. Inei, this is Principal Yaga Masamichi. Principal, read this," Gojou said as he tossed the report Shouko wrote towards him.

"Huh. Strange. I suppose they would like to experiment on him"

Just as Inei was about to shiver in fear, Gojou interrupted Masamichi, "Actually, I had a better idea. What if we made him become the first ever Curse-Jujutsu-Sorcerer-Spirit? Its a good idea, right?"

The principal stayed silent before saying, "You know the higher-ups are going to be angry about this right?"

"Hehe, they were already angry about Yuuji-kun, what's the difference?"

"Although Itadori Yuuji is Sukuna's vessel, he is still a human. Inei is a cursed spirit, through and through."

"The higher-ups don't think of Yuuji-kun as human, though? In their eyes, everything not a human or jujutsu sorcerer is evil. Just thinking about what they'll look like when they see a cursed spirit beat up another cursed spirit gets my blood pumping."

"Alright, do what you want, but remember, you'll have to take responsibility is something goes wrong, okay?"

"Yes, yes," Gojou waved as he turned around with Inei in tow.

'I didn't even get a choice, 'Inei thought despondently, 'Where are the basic human rights that I'm entitled to? Humph.'

...

...

...

A few days later...

"So Inei-kun, when were you formed?" Gojou asked.

"3 months and 17 days. I was born from the fear and malice of hundreds of thousands of children that were imprisoned and tortured before they were used as sacrifices in a ritual that occurred every two years ever since one thousand years ago," Inei replied nonchalantly.

Nobara, Megumi, and Yuuji all turned towards him, wide eyed.

"Ha! Fear me mortals!!".

"Eh? You should be stronger, if that's the case," Nobara questioned.

Depressed, Inei continued to speak, "I sealed a lot of it to acquire human-levels of intelligence, freedom of will, and a human personality. Thus, I am but am also not a cursed spirit. I suppose the closest lifeform to me would be a cursed corpse".

This was not entirely true. Although the negative emotions of those children did indeed result in the cursed spirit being born, the children's wish of "Staying alive" and "Purging all evil" resulted in the cursed spirit's soul being restricted. It then brought Inei's soul over from his world and forced him to merge with the cursed spirit's soul. The result? A mixed amalgamation of human and cursed spirit.

For several weeks after his rebirth, Inei acquired a subservient split personality that would scream and shout at him, telling him to go aboveground and purge the world of the evil humans.

At first, Inei was indifferent, but after constantly hearing his voice, he decided to form a heavenly pact to get rid of it. Because the split personality was considered the full mind of the cursed spirit, giving it up would be the equivalent of exchanging ones mind, thus the benefits outweighed the costs. He then wiped the split personality in exchange for an innate ability to alter the mind.

"I also formed a vow with myself that would limit my cursed energy during the daytime while boosting it during the nighttime."

Inei felt that telling the first years of his vows and some of his abilities was reasonable, after all, he would be stuck here for quite some time.

"Wait, before you go any further, Inei go inside and exorcise the cursed spirit," Gojou said.

While they were talking, they had reached a cemetery. The purpose of this trip was mainly to test out the abilities of the first years, Yuuji and Nobara, as well as Inei, who Gojou had now taken under his wing.

Sighing, Inei walked forward through the cemetery. Rows of gravestones could be seen. The cemetery was built on a mountain, so as one goes up, the older the gravestones. The corpses of small deformed animals could be seen.

Suddenly, as Inei was walking forward, a beetle the size of a human came flying towards Gojou, ignoring Inei. Its sharp mandibles reflecting the orange glow of the sunset.

Before it could go any further, however, black claws pierced through its head, green juices oozes out of the wound.

"This is making me hungry, can we go eat some ramen?" Inei asked, as he wiped his goo covered claws on the ground.

Nobara's face curled into disgust, not because of the goo, but because of Inei's choice of food.

"Ramen? Right now? You can eat that anywhere! We should ea-"

Before she could say anything else, Gojou interrupted her.

"Inei-kun~ How long before your Nighttime vow activates?"

"It depends on the season, but when the sky turns black and no sunlight can be seen is typically when it happens," Inei shrugged before saying.
