She looked up and saw her man, excitedly standing up, "You're back!"

"I'm catching up on my studies. There's an exam coming up soon, and I want to prepare well," she said crisply.

Dane's expression became even stranger. He knew almost everything about her, and Callie's performance at school was no exception. He knew better than her that she was an uninterested straight-F student. Why did she suddenly become so motivated?

"Why are you reading these books? You’re in college."

"Of course, I'm starting from the basics," Callie said, looking at his strange expression and puffing up.
